Chapter 33

Chapter 33

The orange was casually cut into several pieces. Before heading to the study, Mo Wansheng sent another message to "Blueberry Cake".

"Hey bro, what should I say when I get there?"

"Adapt to changing circumstances."

Mo Wansheng steeled herself and gently knocked on the study door.

"Enter."

She pushed open the door and entered, trying to make her steps appear natural, and casually placed the fruit plate in front of Huo Yuzheng's desk.

"You've been working long, haven't you? Would you like some fruit?"

She stared intently at Huo Yuzheng, observing his next reaction; she was ready to respond at any moment.

Huo Yuzheng shifted his gaze from the computer to her. "Thank you."

He picked up his fork, ate a piece, and commented, "Very fresh."

Before he could finish speaking, another piece of orange was forked up. "Would you like a piece?"

The orange pulp on the fork is plump and full.

Huo Yuzheng sat in the chair, holding a fork.

His eyes remained calm.

Mo Wansheng thought of the "blueberry cake" and her words about "being flexible". Was he doing this because he was sure she wouldn't dare to eat it?

She steeled herself, bent down slightly, and took the orange from the fork.

After the orange was taken away, Huo Yuzheng suddenly leaned forward.

The distance between the two closed in an instant.

Mo Wansheng met his dark eyes and quickly straightened up.

She remembered the "cake kiss" on her birthday, and she was afraid that he would sneak up on her again, which would completely throw her off balance.

The orange pulp burst open in her mouth, releasing its sweet and sour juice.

She feigned composure and said, "Yes, it is quite sweet."

Huo Yuzheng: "Mrs. Huo, why were you hiding just now?"

Thinking he hadn't noticed her little actions, Mo Wansheng was speechless for a moment.

Huo Yuzheng chuckled softly, "Are you afraid I'll steal your oranges?"

Mo Wansheng was about to argue when he suddenly changed the subject.

"But it's so late, Mrs. Huo, is there something you need that you suddenly brought over oranges today?"

Mo Wansheng decided to fight back directly; she wanted to gain the upper hand. She discovered that the more she dodged, the more disadvantaged she became.

"Blueberry Cake" is right, she needs to "take the initiative".

She met Huo Yuzheng's teasing gaze, took a step forward, and placed both hands on the table. She bent slightly, mimicking Huo Yuzheng's sudden attack, and stared at him intently.

"It's nothing, I just wanted to check if Mr. Huo was alright."

Huo Yuzheng clearly did not expect her to change her strategy so directly.

His eyebrows twitched slightly, and he did not back down because of her imposing manner.

Instead, taking advantage of her approaching posture, he moved even closer.

Warm breaths mingled in an instant.

"Mrs. Huo, of course, no problem. You are welcome to review it at any time."

He was too cooperative; Mo Wansheng felt as if her heart was about to leap out of her chest, and her thick eyelashes trembled slightly with tension.

She forced herself to remain calm, raising the corners of her lips to maintain a smile.

Huo Yuzheng's slender fingers moved to his collar and slowly unbuttoned the buttons.

Mo Wansheng caught a glimpse of his actions, and when the bite marks became visible, she quickly withdrew her head.

Their previous arrogance was completely extinguished.

Her words became stammered, "Mr. Huo... what are you doing?"

Huo Yuzheng smiled at her, then stopped after unbuttoning the third button.

"Nothing much, just fulfilling Mrs. Huo's wish to inspect it."

"Besides, it really hurts."

Huo Yuzheng made himself sound pitiful, as if he were really in unbearable pain.

Mo Wansheng had no intention of backing down, but she never expected him to bring this up.

Seeing his disastrous masterpiece, his cheeks turned completely red.

Her eyes darted around, not daring to look at the ambiguous traces anymore.

She wanted to defend herself, but couldn't utter a single word.

Huo Yuzheng leisurely enjoyed watching her embarrassment. "Mrs. Huo, are you satisfied with the inspection?"

He paused, then added, "Would you like to come closer and admire your masterpiece?"

"Mrs. Huo, it really hurts. Could you please blow on it for me?"

Mo Wansheng took a deep breath and silently repeated "blueberry cake" and her words in her mind.

This is her home turf!

Finally, she fixed her gaze on Huo Yuzheng's smiling eyes, and she could almost see the flush on her face reflected in those deep eyes.

Perhaps having made up his mind, courage suddenly burst forth from somewhere.

She reached out and touched the mark she had created in her hazy consciousness.

"Mr. Huo, if it hurts... please be careful next time."

Slender fingers occasionally brushed against the bite marks, causing a subtle shiver to run through the body.

After boldly teasing Huo Yuzheng, she quickly put her hands behind her back and retreated to a safe distance.

She stood at the door of the study, turned around and smiled, her blush still lingering.

"Mr. Huo, remember to eat oranges. They're good for clearing heat and reducing internal fire."

After doing all this, Mo Wansheng ran away as if fleeing a famine.

Huo Yuzheng looked down at the dazzling evidence on his collar, then glanced at the rapidly disappearing figure.

He forked a piece of orange and put it in his mouth.

Indeed, it helps to reduce internal heat.

Mo Wansheng ran back to her bedroom and locked the door.

She took a few deep breaths and then eagerly opened her phone to report her latest achievements to her relationship strategist.

"Hey boss, how did I do? Did I successfully infiltrate the enemy camp?"

"Really! This happened while I was fully conscious, and it just happened like that."

"Oh? What was his reaction?"

Mo Wansheng blinked a few times, trying to recall Huo Yuzheng's reaction at the time.

However, she was completely immersed in her role, and it was already quite an achievement for her to suppress her embarrassment; she had no idea how the other person had reacted.

"Uh, I forgot. After he made that joke, my brain just went blank."

"It's okay. We can try to observe it next time. The reaction can reveal whether the strategy is effective."

Mo Wansheng carefully read the suggestions sent by "Blueberry Cake" and found them to be quite reasonable.

A feedback mechanism is also quite necessary.

"I'll try harder next time! (starry-eyed emoji)"

However, after thinking it over, Mo Wansheng was also puzzled.

Over the course of their time together, Huo Yuzheng seems to have become increasingly "shameless" in his speech and behavior.

This forced her to find ways to retaliate.

If she had been the refined and aloof wooden figure she was at the beginning, how could she blush so easily and always be at a disadvantage?

Meanwhile, Huo Yuzheng in his study did not continue working.

He edited a post on his WeChat Moments that could only be seen by one person.

The accompanying picture shows the plate of oranges that Mo Wansheng brought, and the ambiguous traces under the warm light.

It even included a note: Oranges are good for clearing heat and reducing internal fire.

...

Still feeling guilty, Mo Wansheng got up very early the next day.

The winter sky was still completely black.

She slipped away before Huo Yuzheng could get up.

She sat in the dessert shop, sipping her refreshing coffee.

Since she couldn't fall asleep while lying there, she just scrolled through her phone out of boredom.

I opened WeChat Moments and swiped my finger across the screen.

She saw Huo Yuzheng's post on WeChat Moments last night and was stunned.

They've already made a big fuss about it, why post it on WeChat Moments?

Although she wasn't mentioned, every word Huo Yuzheng used was a subtle hint about her.

Mo Wansheng turned her phone face down, her ears already flushed.

She stopped scrolling through her phone and quietly gazed at the world outside the window until dawn.

My phone vibrated.

It was a schedule reminder that tomorrow was the day to visit Mo Ningchuan again.

Huo Yuzheng's assistant gave her a schedule that tomorrow was a day off, so she didn't tell him in advance.

The thought of going back to him that night and having to go through another round of negotiations gave her a headache.

I haven't had the energy to spend on games lately.

She absolutely has to go back to Jingyuan tonight to play games.

Last time, "Blueberry Cake" mentioned that he had been busy lately and hadn't had time to play games.

Now I've become her emotional strategist, and I don't know if I'll have time to continue being her gaming partner.

"Hey bro, do you still have time to play games together?"

"Let's wait a while longer."

"All right."

At the same time, news of Huo Yuzheng also arrived.

"Up so early? Have you had breakfast?"

Mo Wansheng only drank freshly ground coffee and gave a perfunctory answer.

"I ate it! I ate it!"

She ignored Huo Yuzheng's message and continued sending messages to "Blueberry Cake".

"I still feel so embarrassed this morning. I ran off before dawn. I've only had coffee this morning, it's so incredibly awkward!"

"Don't worry, I'll get a good rest today, and I'll definitely be even more energetic tonight! I won't let you down!"

Blueberry cake: "Keep it up!"

The grandfather clock in the dessert shop had already started striking seven o'clock.

Mo Wansheng tidied herself up, put down her phone, and went to the kitchen to prepare.

At 7:30, a clear bell rang at the door.

Mo Wansheng came out of the kitchen; she was a food delivery worker.

"Ms. Mo? Did someone order takeout for you?"

She took the delicate insulated bag with some confusion; she hadn't ordered takeout.

The bag was printed with the logo of a Cantonese restaurant she really liked, known for its light and healthy dishes.

This restaurant doesn't offer delivery; you have to go and buy it yourself.

The sender on the insulated bag is Huo Yuzheng.

She clearly told him she had eaten breakfast, so how could he know it was a lie?

But she was really hungry and didn't think too much about it.

I stopped trying to figure it out.

She opened the insulated bag, inside which was a compartmentalized lunchbox.

One compartment contains a soft and fragrant seafood congee, another contains refreshing stir-fried lily bulbs and asparagus, and a small portion of delicate shrimp dumplings.

It also included a handwritten note with strong, vigorous handwriting:

"Drinking coffee on an empty stomach can upset your stomach. Oranges can help reduce internal heat, and porridge can soothe your stomach."

Mo Wansheng held the card in her hand, her fingertips slightly burning.

She sat down and scooped a spoonful of warm seafood porridge into her mouth.

It was delicious and soothed her empty stomach.

She couldn't resist picking up her phone and opening the chat window she had just tossed aside.

After much hesitation, I finally typed out a line of text.

Mo Wansheng: "I received the takeout, thank you."

Messages are replied to almost instantly.

"Um."

Are you cold?

"It's warm, just right."

She gritted her teeth and sent another message.

See you at Jingyuan tonight.

See you tonight.
