Chapter Nine

Chapter Nine

“Mr. Huo, shall we talk?” Mo Wansheng looked at Huo Yuzheng, her mind blank at his sudden invitation.

Their relationship had undoubtedly become very mysterious, and she needed to clarify everything.

“Okay.” Huo Yuzheng gestured for her to sit down.

Mo Wansheng questioned, "Don't you think something's wrong right now?"

"What's wrong?"

"Think about it, a month ago you said that getting married would be a mutually beneficial arrangement. So why are you sending me so many gifts this week out of the blue?" Mo Wansheng spoke directly; she couldn't stand being kept in the dark.

She was sulking, clearly dissatisfied with Huo Yuzheng's actions.

He always did some strange things, causing her to have unnecessary misunderstandings and expectations.

The worst thing about relationships between people is unrequited love and wishful thinking.

Huo Yuzheng asked in confusion, "Don't you like it?"

Mo Wansheng turned her head and snorted, answering bluntly, "I don't like it."

"The reason." His voice remained calm, without any hint of emotion.

Mo Wansheng clenched her fingers. What she disliked about him was his perpetually calm and nonchalant demeanor.

Given his background, how could he possibly be interested in choosing a gift carefully? At most, he would just buy material things with money without putting any thought into it.

She took a deep breath and unconsciously shrank back.

"I just don't like it, there's no reason needed."

She didn't intend to continue the topic.

Since he invited her to stay, she didn't stand on ceremony with him.

"It's getting late. If I stay, where will I sleep?"

"My room or the second bedroom."

Mo Wansheng was blunt, her tone laced with undisguised provocation, "Then I want to sleep in your room."

After all, she had shared half of her bed with him last time, taking over his territory, and tonight she was determined to have him.

A hint of surprise flashed in Huo Yuzheng's eyes, but it disappeared in an instant.

"Then I'll sleep in the second bedroom."

He got up and strode quickly toward his lodgings for the night.

His footsteps were hurried; what was he hiding from?

Mo Wansheng originally wanted to argue with him, but she didn't expect him to choose the second bedroom directly.

Seeing that Huo Yuzheng had already entered the second bedroom, she went into his room.

The metallic wardrobe exudes a cool texture, blending seamlessly with the room's understated yet luxurious simplicity.

She reached out and opened the wardrobe.

A few pajamas were prominently displayed next to a row of neatly arranged men's clothing.

It's a women's nightgown.

The air was stagnant.

Mo Wansheng ripped off a silk nightgown.

The pajamas are of very good quality and are brand new.

She reached out and touched several other pajamas of different styles, all of which looked brand new.

For some reason, a strange feeling welled up in her heart. She wanted to throw all these pajamas away, and she really wanted to ask him who the owner of these pajamas was.

At least, it won't be her.

Mo Wansheng stared blankly at the few pajamas, when she heard soft footsteps behind her.

He came back from the second bedroom to retrieve some items.

I saw her standing in front of the open wardrobe, staring intently at the women's pajamas.

Huo Yuzheng stopped in his tracks instantly, his expression frozen.

Mo Wansheng turned around and threw the pajamas she was holding onto the bed next to her.

Her voice carried a hint of annoyance, "Who is this for?"

Embarrassment crossed Huo Yuzheng's face. He pursed his thin lips slightly, his embarrassment slipping away, only to be concealed by his composure.

He lowered his voice, remaining calm and composed, and quietly revealed the truth of the secret: "It was prepared for you."

At this moment, it was Mo Wansheng's turn to panic.

Those five short words, like a monstrous wave, surged towards her, pounding against her heart.

She quickly closed the wardrobe, her confident questioning vanishing without a trace, replaced by a flustered and helpless state of mind.

With its claws bared and teeth extended, only the cat's paws remained.

She desperately tried to justify herself, "Why...why are you preparing this? Are you preparing it for someone else?"

You're definitely lying to me!

Huo Yuzheng shook his head, took a few more steps forward, and picked up the pajamas that Mo Wansheng had just thrown on the bed.

He showed her the size and said, "Mrs. Huo, this is your size, right? I don't need to prepare one for anyone else."

Mo Wansheng grabbed the silk nightgown, her face already flushed red.

When did he become so familiar with her size?

"I know, I know!" she stammered, wanting nothing more than to get rid of him. "Take your things and leave now."

Huo Yuzheng's gaze fell on her reddened ear tips; she was more susceptible to teasing than he had imagined.

Instead of leaving, he took another step forward.

He slowly bent down, leaned close to her earlobe, and whispered, "Mrs. Huo, next time you come to check on her, you can just order directly. You don't need to bring takeout."

Mo Wansheng pushed him away, lowering her head to avoid his gaze. "I know! I know! You go now! I want to sleep!"

Huo Yuzheng chuckled, took what he wanted, and left.

Mo Wansheng let out a sigh of relief and locked the door.

The pajamas she was holding felt cool to the touch, yet inexplicably hot.

After hesitating for a moment, she finally changed into her pajamas.

It fits surprisingly well, and the silky fabric clings to the skin.

He seemed to be a little better than she had imagined.

Although she didn't understand why Huo Yuzheng would prepare essential items for her within his own domain.

If she hadn't barged in here on her own initiative, Mo Wansheng guessed he probably wouldn't have invited her here.

She messaged "Blueberry Cake" to ask her for advice and learn from her experience.

"Let me tell you, my arranged marriage partner is really strange."

"?"

The other party clearly didn't understand her seemingly random message.

"As I told you earlier, he sent me a ton of gifts, so I went to see him. He even gave me his bedroom to stay in and prepared pajamas for me."

Suddenly I realized that this person is actually not a bad person.

"By the way, let me tell you, a few days ago he even taught me how to play games, and my skills have improved by leaps and bounds."

"When do you have time? I'd like to come and play a few rounds of 'King of Fighters' with you. Maybe I can even beat you."

Once Mo Wansheng started typing, she couldn't stop.

"Hey bro, didn't you say you were getting married last time?"

"Do you have any good suggestions that could make him happy?"

After a moment's hesitation, the other party gave a reply.

"Why don't you give her something too? I feel like my fiancé would be happy to receive a gift."

Mo Wansheng pondered for a moment, and it was indeed a good idea.

Huo Yuzheng suddenly started showering her with money without any sincerity. Why didn't she retaliate in kind? Let him experience what it's like to be "thrown" with material things but not feel genuine affection.

She's no less wealthy than him anyway.

She originally wanted to give him a genuine return gift to make him happy, but the suggestion of "blueberry cake" undoubtedly led her astray.

Mo Wansheng had long forgotten Huo Yuzheng's "tiny" merits.

Let's get right to it.

For the week after she returned to the apartment, she sent Huo Yuzheng a different gift every day.

On the first day, the driver delivered a ostentatious watch studded with diamonds to the front desk of the Huo Group.

The watch was quite valuable, but it was very different from Huo Yuzheng's usual style.

Mo Wansheng specially included a card with a strong woody scent, on which was written, "Mr. Huo, time flies, I hope you take care."

That rich woody scent was the perfume Huo Yuzheng had given her.

She likes perfume, but hates woody scents.

When the receptionist asked her assistant, Lin Hexuan, to deliver it to Huo Yuzheng, the entire company was in an uproar.

Everyone was discussing the boss's legal wife, whom they had never met.

The next day, the gift was a complete set of priceless golf clubs, top-brand, custom-made. However, everyone in the industry knew that Huo Yuzheng disliked playing golf, and no one would give him a set of golf clubs that would offend him.

As always, Mo Wansheng left a card that read, "Mr. Huo, exercise more and stay healthy."

On the third day, right on time, there were even gossipy employees waiting at the corner next to the front desk for "Mrs. Huo's" gift to appear.

Several boxes of Wagyu beef were airlifted in, and they were still emitting a white, cold aura when they were unloaded from the truck.

Today's card was simple and direct: "Mr. Huo, please have something good to eat."

Lin Hexuan handed the gifts over to Huo Yuzheng's office. When he reported the gifts to the boss's wife, Huo Yuzheng simply grunted and gestured for him to leave.

He was also puzzled as to what was going on with the lady.

This forced him to endure countless questions from gossipy employees every day.

Some of the department leaders came over specifically to ask him what Mrs. Huo had given the boss.

The junior employees gossip, while the leaders fawn over them.

They pressed on relentlessly, eager to uncover the secrets they desired.

After a week, the office was already a complete mess.

Every time a gift arrived, Huo Yuzheng would receive a message from Mo Wansheng right on time.

"Honey, did you receive the gift?"

He simply replied calmly, "Received."

These piled-up items were expensive, but they didn't suit Huo Yuzheng's tastes at all. Some of them even specifically touched on his sensitive spots.

Mo Wansheng's mood would brighten for a while after she completed her daily gift-giving task.

She could picture him staring at the gift boxes in his office, unsure of what to do with them, his brow furrowed, a look of bewilderment on his face.

She will celebrate her revenge!

However, imagination is ultimately just imagination.

Reality ultimately differed somewhat from her imagination.

Huo Yuzheng was only slightly surprised, but showed no anger or annoyance.

He made a phone call.

“Contact the children’s charity and auction off all the gifts she has sent recently in Mrs. Huo’s name.”

He paused, then added, "Tell them that this is Mrs. Huo's heartfelt wish, and that she hopes to help children in need as much as possible."

Several boxes of Wagyu beef stored in the freezer were obviously not going to sell at auction, so he brought them back to his suburban villa over the weekend.

Mo Wansheng had not yet returned, so Huo Yuzheng personally cooked a Wagyu beef feast, preparing some of the beef.

Before she even stepped into the villa, she could smell the aroma of meat wafting out.

Almost running, Mo Wansheng opened the villa door and strode into the kitchen.

She wanted to ask the head chef what they had cooked today that smelled so good.

However, when she looked up, she saw him, Huo Yuzheng.
