Chapter Nineteen
Early in the morning, the driver came to pick up Mo Wansheng.
She opened the car door and was somewhat surprised to see Huo Yuzheng already sitting inside.
Because we had originally agreed to go to Jingjiang Garden separately.
"Didn't we say we'd all take different cars?"
"I saw I had time this morning, so I had the driver bring it over directly."
"Oh." Mo Wansheng didn't say anything more.
The car quickly drove into Jingjiang Garden, where Mo Ningchuan, as always, came out early to greet them.
This time, Mo Wansheng told him in advance that she had something to do and it would be inconvenient for her to stay here that night.
Mo Ningchuan did not insist.
Compared to when she went home with Huo Yuzheng a month ago, their interactions now feel much more natural.
She easily took Huo Yuzheng's arm.
It's no longer the stiff acting of the beginning.
“Dad, you said this Pu’er tea was fragrant last time, so I brought some more for you.”
"I only mentioned it casually last time, but Xiao Huo is really thoughtful!" Mo Ningchuan took the tea cake, his eyes showing even more appreciation.
"Don't stand, let's sit down and talk."
The three of them went to the tea room together, and this time Huo Yuzheng did not immediately let go of Mo Wansheng's arm.
Instead, he led her to sit beside him.
The tea steamed gently, and when poured into a cup, the tea was clear.
Mo Wansheng took a small sip, and the flavor was as rich and mellow as ever.
Unlike last time, this time Mo Ningchuan didn't bring up matters of the group that she didn't care about.
How have you been lately? Busy?
Mo Wansheng unconsciously tightened her grip on the teacup. She wanted to look at Huo Yuzheng, but she held back.
Her gaze fell on the tea, unsure how to respond.
Their relationship seemed to have been going well for a long time, but she wasn't sure.
She didn't know how to answer.
After a brief silence, Huo Yuzheng spoke first.
He remained calm and composed. "Everything is fine, Dad. Don't worry."
He then turned his head to look at Mo Wansheng and added, "Wansheng is a bit restless when she sleeps."
Mo Wansheng was like a cat with its fur standing on end. How could he say such private things in front of Mo Ningchuan!
Besides, she had only slept in the same bed with him once.
My ears instantly burned, turning red all the way to the base of my ears.
She quickly retorted, "Dad! Don't listen to his nonsense! I always sleep very soundly!"
Upon hearing this, Mo Ningchuan burst into laughter. Didn't he know what kind of person his daughter was?
From childhood to adulthood, the nanny always said that she was a restless sleeper.
Mo Ningchuan's gaze swept over the two of them. Seeing their interaction made him feel much more at ease.
“Yuzheng, you have no idea, when Xiaosheng was little, her blanket was always on the floor! You would cover her up, and then she would kick it off. I’m telling you, you definitely don’t know. Sometimes, she could even sleep from one end of the bed to the other.”
Mo Wansheng's face turned completely red. "Dad! Why are you bringing up my childhood embarrassing moments again!"
A slight smile appeared on Huo Yuzheng's lips.
Mo Wansheng reached out to pinch Mo Ningchuan's arm, but before she could reach out, her wrist was grabbed by a large hand.
She turned to look at her accomplice, her voice tinged with a hint of anger, "Huo Yuzheng! Why are you still helping him?"
"It's not that I'm helping Dad, it's that I'm afraid you'll spill the tea," Huo Yuzheng said calmly.
Mo Wansheng snorted lightly; he certainly had a lot of fallacies.
"Xiao Sheng is restless at night, so I'll have to be patient with her, Yu Zheng." Mo Ningchuan's tone was full of entrustment.
"It's not a matter of taking responsibility; Wansheng is just fine as she is."
Mo Wansheng pouted slightly, her cheeks puffed out in anger, and refused to look at the two of them anymore.
These two, working together, love to make fun of her.
She pretended to be angry, looked out the window, and let her gaze wander casually among the bushes.
Suddenly, a plate full of nuts was pushed in front of her.
Those hands with distinct knuckles never stopped moving from the very beginning.
Mo Wansheng glanced at the pile of nuts that had already formed a small mountain, and couldn't resist taking one and popping it into her mouth.
The sweet, crispy flavor burst in her mouth.
Because she ignored the two people, they started talking about financial topics that she didn't understand.
Mo Ningchuan took in their subtle actions, and his smile deepened.
One after another, the entire plate of nuts disappeared into her stomach.
This relaxed and harmonious atmosphere continued into the afternoon.
After sitting for a while, Huo Yuzheng glanced at his watch and said, "It's almost time, Dad."
"It's time to go back." Although Mo Ningchuan was a little reluctant, he also expressed his understanding.
He looked at Mo Wansheng with loving eyes a few more times, "Seeing you all, I feel relieved."
"Whenever you want to come back, we can come back together." Huo Yuzheng stood up and naturally extended his hand to her.
Without hesitation, Mo Wansheng took his hand and stood up.
Mo Ningchuan escorted them all the way to the door, giving them several more instructions.
Only after watching their car disappear at the end of the road did he feel at ease enough to go inside.
Compared to when he saw them last month, he could clearly sense that the atmosphere between them had changed slightly this time.
The two returned to the suburban villa together.
After dinner, Huo Yuzheng returned to his study to handle official business.
Mo Wansheng looked at the wine in the cabinet with a determined look in her eyes, as if she had made a decision.
She took a stemmed glass, filled it with wine, and drank it all in one gulp.
One cup after another.
She stopped when she felt a little dizzy.
She returned to the master bedroom and pulled out the nightgown she had bought last time from deep inside the closet.
After changing, she paused for a moment in front of the full-length mirror, examining herself closely, her cheeks flushing.
She blushed, whether from genuine drunkenness or shyness, it was unclear.
Before leaving the master bedroom, she took a silk coat and put it on.
Finally, she took a deep breath and gently knocked on the study door.
A deep "Come in" came from inside the room.
"What is it?" Huo Yuzheng looked up at Mo Wansheng.
Wearing a thin coat and reeking of alcohol, Huo Yuzheng frowned slightly.
Wearing so little clothing and drinking so much alcohol.
Mo Wansheng gently placed the warm milk on a corner of the desk, carefully avoiding the documents.
"Drink some milk. You don't seem to have much of an appetite for dinner." Her voice was a little slurred.
"Thank you," Huo Yuzheng replied softly.
"Me too, thank you." Her voice was soft.
This expression of gratitude is not only for his companionship on her journey home today, but also for many things that have happened in the past.
Huo Yuzheng stood up and pushed a chair in front of her. "Sit down."
He saw hesitation and doubt in her eyes.
He guessed half of Mo Wansheng's thoughts; she did indeed have something she wanted to ask him.
She sat down and placed her hands on her knees.
"The first thing, can I ask about the donation?" She looked up, her eyes somewhat unfocused.
"What do you want to ask? Your assistant should have already told you the general situation last time."
"Why in my name?" she couldn't understand.
“I think Mrs. Huo is willing to help those children, and those auction items were all bought by you and given to me as a gift.”
Mo Wansheng retorted, "But I have already given it to you, so it should belong to you."
"I don't think Mrs. Huo needs to be so clear about things with me."
Huo Yuzheng paused for a moment, then leaned forward slightly, "Besides, I think Mrs. Huo can fully represent me."
His reasoning was more compelling than any other explanation.
Mo Wansheng panicked. What did he mean?
In what capacity does she represent Huo Yuzheng?
Why did he say that?
Seeing that she remained silent, he continued, "Does Mrs. Huo have any other questions?"
Yes. Why are you sometimes so nice to me?
The alcohol was taking effect, and her speech was becoming slurred.
The thin silk coat slipped off her shoulders and fell to the floor.
Large swaths of her fair skin were exposed, revealing a breathtaking view to Huo Yuzheng.
The delicate straps of her lace nightgown accentuated her slender shoulders, and the air seemed to freeze at that moment.
A dark undercurrent flashed in Huo Yuzheng's unfathomable eyes, and his Adam's apple bobbed slightly.
Seeing that Mo Wansheng moved the chair closer to him, he leaned back slightly.
Seemingly pressured to get an answer, her gaze toward Huo Yuzheng grew increasingly intense.
Before he could even speak, Mo Wansheng had already boldly taken his hand.
Her body was very hot because she had been drinking alcohol.
The scalding heat traveled along the palm of my hand.
“Mo Wansheng, because you are my Mrs. Huo.”
The next second, Huo Yuzheng leaned down and kissed her lips.
Their warm breaths mingled together.
This kiss was not like the fleeting peck on our wedding day.
It is fierce and powerful.
Mo Wansheng let out a muffled groan; she was already having trouble breathing.
The sweet fragrance emanating from Huo Yuzheng enveloped her, and she still loved it just as much.
Unable to resist, she wrapped her arms around his neck and deepened the kiss.
Subconsciously, her body began to move, her restless hand sliding down her neck to Huo Yuzheng's chest.
She tried to unbutton his shirt, but a large hand held her down.
The long kiss came to an end.
Huo Yuzheng gently moved her hand away, breathing heavily. Mo Wansheng, who had already closed her eyes, opened them wide.
This action instantly brought her to her senses.
She was somewhat at a loss, and the flush on her face was more of an expression of embarrassment and awkwardness.
Huo Yuzheng bent down, picked up the thin coat from the floor, and carefully draped it over her shoulders.
He said in a hoarse voice, "It's getting late, get some rest."
Huo Yuzheng opened the study door for her, his eyes filled with emotions she couldn't decipher.
Good night, Mrs. Huo.
Mo Wansheng gently pulled on her coat, wrapping it tightly around herself, and practically fled.
As she ran past Huo Yuzheng, she whispered, "Goodnight, Mr. Huo."
He gently rubbed his temples and exhaled.
He almost lost control.
He was crazy about that kiss.
She wanted to numb herself with alcohol and find the answers within herself.
But he didn't want to do that.
When he kissed her, he could even feel her trembling slightly.
She was awkward and uneasy; she seemed to be taking a test.
He could sense that she hadn't fully accepted their relationship.
Huo Yuzheng opened the study window, and the cold winter wind blew on his face, driving away the warmth in his heart. He needed to calm down.
He couldn't help himself.
Recalling her helpless and bewildered expression, he smiled bitterly.
Perhaps tomorrow, she will avoid him, feeling embarrassed and annoyed.
But he prefers it this way.
