Chapter Seven

Chapter Seven

Mo Wansheng adjusted the controller and finally opened "The King of Fighters". She turned to look at Huo Yuzheng, who was still very relaxed and calm.

"You know how to play this, right?"

Huo Yuzheng nodded.

During the role selection process, Mo Wansheng politely offered to let him choose first, but he declined.

She shrugged slightly. She had given him a chance, but he didn't seize it, so there was nothing she could do.

Mo Wansheng chose a character ranked T0 in strength without hesitation.

For her, when it comes to games, competition comes first, and being a gentleman comes last.

"It's your turn."

Huo Yuzheng casually picked one, quickly pressed the buttons on the controller, and stopped when the light stopped on a particular character, selecting that character.

Mo Wansheng confirmed with him that the intensity was completely overwhelming, "Are you sure you want to choose this?"

The role Huo Yuzheng chose was not as strong as her previous choices in most aspects.

"Yes, this is it."

Mo Wansheng snorted lightly, "She's about to die and she's still pretending to be profound."

Let's see how she slaps him in the face later.

When she plays games, she especially likes to say tough things like, "Don't cry if you lose later."

Huo Yuzheng: "Let's begin."

As she moved to the start button, Mo Wansheng suddenly remembered something.

She suggested, "How about we make a bet? The loser has to do one thing for the winner?"

"Can."

Seeing how readily he agreed, Mo Wansheng smiled, a sly smile playing on her lips.

"One game decides the winner!"

Without hesitation, she pressed the start button.

The game loads, and the battle begins.

She focused all her attention on the game screen and the controller, and with a flurry of clicks, the character moved swiftly to the opponent's side.

Immediately following a light punch, followed by a light kick.

The attack struck the opponent heavily.

She then used a special technique.

A smug gleamed in Mo Wansheng's eyes.

Compared to her series of actions, Huo Yuzheng's actions were like a wooden scarecrow, not moving at all.

However, she didn't expect that she was happy a little too soon.

When her opponent's health was reduced to the lowest possible level by her punches and kicks, it seemed she could decide the outcome of the match with a clean, light kick.

However, to her surprise, her opponent suddenly became more agile.

Huo Yuzheng's expression remained calm, though his gaze became slightly more focused. He manipulated the seemingly disadvantaged character with remarkable precision.

With each strike, he perfectly evaded her attacks.

For a moment, she panicked.

Huo Yuzheng controlled the controller, and the character on the screen dodged, defended, and neutralized every attack she launched.

He judged her with unerring accuracy, as if he could predict her next move.

He was a completely different person from the one who had been passively attacked just moments before.

Immediately following a finishing move, the controller vibrated.

The character controlled by Mo Wansheng had most of its health points deducted.

She pressed the controller harder, but brute force did not make the character more powerful.

The character was very agile under Huo Yuzheng's control, making good use of his close-range advantage, while the meticulous control also avoided damage.

Mo Wansheng was undoubtedly in a state of anxiety.

After Huo Yuzheng unleashed his last special skill, the character controlled by Mo Wansheng collapsed.

A large "ko" was flashing on the screen.

Huo Yuzheng put down the controller. "You played pretty well."

Mo Wansheng pouted, threw the controller on the bed, and turned to look at Huo Yuzheng.

"Are you doing this on purpose? You're so powerful, yet you deliberately lowered my health and then humiliated me."

He's so good; it's obvious that his initial mistake was an act.

Just to keep the health bar as low as possible, so as to demonstrate top-notch skills.

Huo Yuzheng calmly shook his head. "No, I also need to observe your attack methods to find a weakness."

"I've never played this role before, and this is my first time using it, so I need to get used to it."

"Your problem is that you're attacking too aggressively. You haven't controlled the pace well. Appropriate pauses are necessary."

Mo Wansheng snorted lightly, "You won. What do you want me to promise you?"

"I didn't expect that. We'll talk about it later."

"Okay." Mo Wansheng then remembered something, "Give me your phone."

She stretched out her hand, gesturing for Huo Yuzheng to place the phone in her palm.

Huo Yuzheng handed over the phone without any hesitation.

"password?"

He answered naturally, "1227".

The phone is unlocked.

Mo Wansheng added, "A birthday?"

"No, it's my first day taking over the company."

She was slightly taken aback. Only he could treat such a mundane day as an anniversary.

She then turned on the recording function.

"I, Mo Wansheng, will unconditionally grant Huo Yuzheng one request in the future, and this will serve as proof."

After recording, she even renamed the file "Spoils of War".

"Here you go." She handed the phone back to Huo Yuzheng. "Keep the receipt safe, so you won't say I'm untrustworthy. Let me know when you've made up your mind."

"good."

Although she was somewhat unwilling to accept the loss, she still acknowledged Huo Yuzheng's skill.

Mo Wansheng coughed lightly, adopting a humble and inquisitive demeanor, "Since you're so skilled, and I've even given you spoils of war, could you perhaps offer some pointers?"

She's not good at video games, but she's persistent.

A few years ago, she played "King of Fighters" and her performance was even more appalling.

Even the strongest characters, under her control, are reduced to nothing more than a barrage of attacks that can be completely dodged.

Thanks to "Blueberry Cake's" advice, otherwise she would have lost even more miserably today.

Once Huo Yuzheng got serious, she was able to keep up with a few moves.

"Still playing this?" Huo Yuzheng's slender fingers picked up the controller that had been placed aside, a gesture that clearly indicated his agreement.

Mo Wansheng gave him a bright smile, "Thank you!"

She felt that Huo Yuzheng's skill level was no less than "Blueberry Cake's," and he was clearly a veteran player.

She was thinking of secretly learning a few tricks, her mind racing with calculations.

In a few days, I'll find "Blueberry Cake" again for a good match, and then give her a big surprise.

Mo Wansheng gestured for Huo Yuzheng to sit on her large bed, and even moved her body to the side to make room for him.

"Why don't you sit here? You're so far away, and your voice isn't loud, so I can't hear you clearly."

Seeing her persistence, Huo Yuzheng did not refuse. He got up from the sofa and sat cross-legged next to Mo Wansheng.

He was very tactful, and after sitting down, he added, "I apologize for being so presumptuous."

The two returned to the character selection screen.

Huo Yuzheng: "Which one do you want to practice? Each one is a little different, but the general principles are similar."

“This is it!” Mo Wansheng pointed to the role she had just chosen.

"Offensive role. Just start the game."

Mo Wansheng obediently pressed start.

Huo Yuzheng: "Give me the controller."

She handed the handle to Huo Yuzheng, intently watching his slender fingers.

"Look, a combo attack." His fingers flew across the controller buttons without the slightest pause or hesitation.

The characters in the picture also came to life quickly.

"Then there are fire skills."

"You attack."

Mo Wansheng quickly picked up the controller that Huo Yuzheng had thrown aside and took control of the character he had chosen.

She controlled her character as she charged towards Iori Yagami.

As a result, he was brutally beaten and died.

The word "ko" lit up on the screen again.

"This is revenge! Where is the teaching?" Mo Wansheng pouted. What kind of teaching is this? This is blatant bullying of novices.

The combination of extremely powerful characters and an exceptionally high level of gameplay is like stacking buffs on top of buffs.

Huo Yuzheng ignored her accusations and continued his teaching.

"This is a demonstration. Pay attention to the intervals between the movements, and then do it again."

A series of massacres.

Huo Yuzheng handed the controller back to Mo Wansheng, "Now you fight Iori Yagami."

She could tell that her movements weren't as smooth as Huo Yuzheng had demonstrated for her; after comparing them, both the speed and continuity were much worse.

"For this kind of excessive intensity, there shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as the operation is continuous enough. Your problem is precisely that you're not skilled enough in controlling it, so you can be exploited."

Mo Wansheng nodded thoughtfully.

She tried a few more times, but ultimately she was still a little short.

During the fight, Huo Yuzheng quickly analyzed each of her key presses.

In the new round, Huo Yuzheng gestured for her to begin, "You start fighting directly, imagine an enemy, and fight using your usual tactics."

He then put down the handle in his hand and leaned closer to Mo Wansheng, so close that a faint yeast scent lingered on both sides of her neck.

His finger hovered over the handle Mo Wansheng was holding, and at a crucial moment, his fingertip lightly touched Mo Wansheng's finger.

"This is it. After the heavy hit, you need to punch quickly to cancel the recovery animation. Otherwise, you'll be stunned for a second. Pay attention to control and don't focus too much on the screen."

His touch was subtle and ticklish.

A strange sensation followed the touch and startled her.

It stirred her heart, causing it to tremble slightly.

"Oh, okay." Mo Wansheng's voice became somewhat strained.

She instinctively held her breath, trying to focus all her attention on the game controls, rather than on him beside her.

"Try again."

"good."

Following Huo Yuzheng's instructions, the attack seemed to go much more smoothly than the last one.

The sweet scent that had drawn her so close eventually faded, and he straightened up again, no longer so close.

Mo Wansheng asked in confusion, "Is there a better way to train?"

"Muscle memory".

"It mainly relies on your habitual reflexes, rather than the feedback from the screen. Sometimes you pay too much attention to the screen feedback, but no matter how fast the screen is, it is still slower than the feedback from the operation."

Mo Wansheng understood the subtext: basically, if you're bad at something, just practice more.

Once the techniques have been taught, there are no better alternatives.

Only practice.

"Okay, thank you, Teacher Huo." Mo Wansheng leaned against a large cushion, put down the controller in her hand, and collapsed onto the bed.

She tapped her phone; there were only five minutes left until midnight.

Before they knew it, the two of them had been playing the game for more than two hours.

Seeing her lie down, Huo Yuzheng prepared to get off the bed, but Mo Wansheng reached out and grabbed the hem of his clothes.

She slightly raised her head. "You're not going to sleep on the sofa, are you?"

He answered decisively, "Yes."

Mo Wansheng gave a soft hum, "Sleep here." She patted the bed.

Her tone carried a hint of arrogance, "You have to go to work tomorrow, don't go to the company and get a stiff neck."

She rolled over, undoubtedly giving him more space.

Seeing that Huo Yuzheng did not lie down, she added, "It's nothing, Mr. Huo, we still have our licenses legally."

A soft "hmm" was accompanied by the sound of clothes rubbing against the mattress.

The bed was pressed down by another force.

Huo Yuzheng lay down beside her.

Mo Wansheng turned off the bedroom light, and everything fell into silent darkness.
