Chapter 18 He's My Boss
Yan Sui strolled along leisurely, and before she knew it, Sui Sui had run ahead.
"Grandpa Xu's house is here, where are you going?"
They've already gone too far and are still running.
Unexpectedly, Sui Sui kept running and ran all the way to the edge of the fishpond.
From a distance, Yan Sui could see a man sitting there.
He wore a white shirt and black pants, and had a slender figure.
Others fishing exude an indescribable sense of leisure and freedom, but he is different; he possesses a kind of solitary loneliness that seems detached from the world.
Sui Sui is very outgoing and friendly, patting his lap with her little fleshy paws.
Fu Yansheng glanced at it casually and ignored it.
He tilted his head slightly, and his sharply defined features came into Yan Sui's eyes.
Her eyes resembled peach blossoms, long and slightly upturned.
Despite having a pair of affectionate eyes, there was an indescribable sense of coldness and aloofness.
Yan Sui's eardrums seemed to vibrate from the sound of her own heartbeat as she stared blankly.
The moment he appeared, all she wanted to say to all the short videos she had scrolled through was one sentence—
"Everyone here is trash!"
Yan Junming looked at Sui Sui, then at Yan Sui, and couldn't help but squint his eyes.
Something's not right, something's very wrong.
"Sister, wipe your drool."
Yan Sui glanced at him, "You don't understand."
Yan Junming: "I really don't understand, I'm not that old yet."
Yan Sui clicked her tongue. Why the personal attacks?
"At his age, he has a charm that you don't."
"What charm? You just think she's good-looking."
Yan Sui clapped her hands, "So you also think he's good-looking, which proves that my aesthetic sense is normal!"
Yan Junming angrily shouted, "Last time you told Grandma Zhang that you were still young and there was no rush to find a partner."
Yan Sui ignored him; marriage and dating are two different things.
Based on her extensive experience with men online, this was definitely top-notch.
Who says you can't find a good one in the village? Look, she found one!
Yan Sui was about to step forward when she suddenly stopped.
"Go home and do your homework."
Yan Junming: "?"
"Sis, that's a bit hurtful."
Yan Sui: "Otherwise, what are you going to do staying here? Be a third wheel?"
After shooing Yan Junming away, Yan Sui lowered her head and straightened her clothes.
This was quite a surprise; she seemed to be dressed rather casually.
Who's that pretty girl who's trying to strike up a conversation by wearing two pairs of cotton shoes?
Her hair was loosely clipped back with a large hair clip, and she was without makeup.
Yan Sui took a deep breath. If her appearance wasn't good enough, she could make up for it with her looks. She would look good even if a burlap sack were put on her.
She mentally hypnotized herself several times, and she made a dazzling entrance as if she were walking the red carpet in her cotton shoes, just like she was wearing high heels.
Yan Sui pulled Sui Sui back and then squatted down next to Fu Yansheng.
"I'm sorry, my cat is being naughty and bothered you."
Sui Sui: "Meow?"
Fu Yansheng replied in a cold voice, "No."
Yan Sui rubbed Sui Sui's head, glancing at his face with her eyes.
At such close range, it's an absolute visual feast.
"Sir, you look unfamiliar. You're not from Changqing Village, are you?"
Fu Yansheng sat upright with his eyes fixed straight ahead, his demeanor exuding an air of noble languor.
Qu Jiang had reported Yan Sui's situation to him early in the morning, suspecting that Yan Sui had come after him.
Fu Yansheng glanced at her sideways. Yan Sui was a head shorter than him and was looking up at him.
The girl's flawless white face was on full display, and her bright eyes shone like stars.
There wasn't a trace of acting in it.
Fu Yansheng examined the situation for a moment before looking away.
Or perhaps she really doesn't recognize him.
Either her acting skills are so superb that she can fool him.
"no."
Yan Sui pursed her lips, saying very little.
Are you fishing?
She tilted her head and looked into the bucket.
Fu Yansheng's eyes narrowed slightly as he inexplicably recalled that the cat had done the same thing.
As expected of the master.
Yan Sui raised an eyebrow; the bucket was empty.
"Do you live in that courtyard house over there?"
She had heard Tian Xiangjuan mention that there was a big boss inside, and his assistant.
She's already met the big boss, so he must be the assistant?
"It's freezing cold, why aren't you out fishing with your boss?"
"Boss?" Fu Yansheng raised an eyebrow.
Yan Sui cupped her face in her hands. "It's another guy. I've met him before. He seems to have some mental issues. But most company leaders are like that—busy, useless, and sick."
Fu Yansheng: "..."
He nodded slightly. "Yes, he's my boss."
He remained calm and composed as he put away his fishing rod.
Yan Sui then realized that there was no bait on the hook.
"You won't catch any fish like that."
Yan Sui's round eyes widened as if she had just thought of something, looking exactly like Sui Sui's.
"I know, your boss did it on purpose! He's mistreating you, deliberately not giving you bait, making you fish here in this freezing weather, right? That's just too much!"
Fu Yansheng remained silent, so there was no need for him to overthink it.
"No need to say anything more, do you think I don't know how miserable it is to be a beast of burden? What we get for going to work isn't a salary, but compensation for our mental anguish!"
Fu Yansheng, the capitalist: "..."
There's a feeling that Yan Sui is subtly criticizing someone.
Yan Sui slapped her thigh and lamented, "Are you stupid?! Why are you still working for a boss like that?! He drives a Rolls-Royce, and you're working yourself to death. Is it worth it?"
Come with me, I'll take care of you!
She was screaming internally.
But it was only their first meeting today, and she was afraid of scaring him.
Fu Yansheng remained calm and said in a low voice, "I have a sickly father and a spendthrift mother at home."
Yan Sui felt even more heartbroken; it was just too tragic!
Fu Yansheng: "And my intellectually disabled older brother."
Fu Wenyang, who was soaking in a private hot spring at a resort, suddenly sneezed violently.
The beautiful woman snuggled closer. "Mr. Fu, are you too cold?"
Fu Wenyang sneered, "Someone must be talking badly about me behind my back!"
Yan Sui felt sorry for him, but also puzzled.
"How much does he pay you to be so devoted to him?"
Fu Yansheng paused for a moment. Is this how you use "devoted to one's life"?
He deducted two-thirds from Qu Jiang's annual salary.
Two million.
Yan Sui: "..."
Suddenly, I can't empathize anymore.
I recognized the dog in its eyes; it's a dog I can't afford to keep.
Fu Yansheng turned his gaze to her, wondering why she wasn't saying anything.
Yan Sui seemed lost in thought, but a hint of regret was evident.
He didn't linger, picked up his fishing rod, and turned to leave.
Yan Sui absentmindedly tugged at its fur and sighed, "As expected, good-looking men are all expensive."
Meow~
It's not that he's expensive; it's that she's too poor.
Yan Sui sighed, patted her bottom, and left.
As soon as they arrived at Xu Mocun's house, they saw Fu Qingci come out with a dark face.
When Fu Qingci saw her, for some reason, he gave her a sarcastic smile.
"What, you realize you were wrong? You regret it?"
“Yan Sui, if you sincerely apologize to me now, I might consider giving you another chance.”
Yan Sui: "You're blocking my way, I need to go in."
Fu Qingci looked up in surprise, then chuckled.
"Do you know who lives in here? You think you can just walk in like that?"
Yan Sui looked impatient. "Do you think you know better than me who lives here? When did you start working as a doorman?"
At this moment, Xu Mocun opened the door and came out.
Upon seeing Yan Sui, he frowned.
"What are you standing there for? Wait for me to come out and invite you in, so hurry up and come in!"
Yan Sui pointed at Fu Qingci, "He's blocking me from getting in."
Xu Mocun said in a deep voice, "What's wrong with you, young man? I've already told you I'm retiring from writing, don't you understand? Hurry up and leave, don't make me lose my temper."
Fu Qingci's face turned ashen. If he hadn't heard that the old man liked Xu Mocun's calligraphy, he wouldn't have bothered to come and fawn over him.
Yan Sui proudly raised her chin and, under Fu Qingci's incredulous gaze, followed Xu Mocun inside.
"When did you stop writing? Are you still going to eat strawberries?"
Xu Mocun stroked his beard lightly, "Whether someone retires from writing or not depends on the individual."
Fu Qingci outside the door: "..."
You're speaking so loudly, as if you're afraid I won't hear you, right?
