Conspiracy

Conspiracy

Inside the dungeon, Xie Sili listened to the old man's words with his eyes closed.

In the past two days, the old man has been very concerned about her, constantly asking when she can go out, and occasionally asking about Fang Ye, to which she patiently answers each question.

To test their character, the jailers brought them food that was either smelly or spoiled, making it impossible to swallow.

Whenever she saw the old man wanting to eat, she would give him some snacks to fill his stomach.

"Young lady, you have such great self-control!" the old man exclaimed in admiration. "Look at those who came in; they've all become thin and lost their former charm in just a few days, but you haven't changed at all."

Xie Sili glanced at the old man and chuckled softly.

"Girl, do you think I can still go out? Will I really be able to witness Fang Ye's unfortunate day?"

Xie Sili's eyes, which had been slightly closed, opened slightly.

The old man was pale and thin, looking withered, but he was not yet on the verge of death. He only needed proper care to recover.

“Of course,” Xie Sili replied in a low voice. “If you are able to leave this place, would you be willing to come with me? I guarantee that someone will take care of you in your old age and see you off in your final days.”

a long time.

The old man's voice rang out beside me, "As long as the young lady doesn't mind this old geezer."

"I don't mind." Xie Sili glanced at the old man again, a slight smile appearing on his lips.

Sensing the footsteps, Xie Sili opened her eyes and looked in that direction. Besides Lu Shiyuan's footsteps, there were two other unfamiliar footsteps, which should be people Lu Shiyuan brought.

She went through the list her brother had left her before he died in her mind.

Although the identity of the visitor is unknown, anyone brought by Lu Shiyuan must be someone he trusts.

In the midst of her thoughts, she heard the sound of the cell door being opened, and Lu Shiyuan appeared before her with two other people.

"My name is Guan Lingsong, Minister of the Court of Judicial Review."

"My name is Wei Lin, Minister of Justice."

Guan Lingsong and Wei Lin's voices rang out simultaneously.

Xie Sili sized up the two people in front of her, then turned her gaze to Lu Shiyuan.

Guan Lingsong and Wei Lin were both people left to her by her elder brother.

She didn't know how her brother had instructed them back then, but more importantly, she wondered if they would choose Jun Qiyu and support him to ascend the throne, just like she had.

"My name is Xie Sili." Xie Sili looked at them and smiled. "It's kind of you two to come and visit me in prison. I wonder how Fang Yuanchao is doing now?"

"Don't worry, young lady. The deeds of the Fang and Zhao families will soon be known to the world, and they will surely be able to clear your name." Guan Lingsong looked at Xie Sili with an appreciative expression.

"If Fang Yuanchao goes to cause trouble for that young lady, I'll trouble you gentlemen to keep an eye on her," Xie Sili said softly.

“That girl is a pitiful person. She has lost her maternal grandfather. If we can lend a helping hand when she is in trouble, we will surely repay her kindness in the future.” Xie Sili coughed a few times as he spoke.

"How is the young lady's health?"

Lu Shiyuan knew that Xie Sili was pretending to be sickly and had persisted until now probably so that the old man next door would know that Fang Ye's actions were a foregone conclusion.

"I...I..." she said, then suddenly vomited a mouthful of blood and fainted.

“Miss…Miss…” Lu Shiyuan said as he helped Xie Sili up.

He picked up Xie Sili's body and walked outside. Guan Lingsong and Wei Lin were greatly surprised to see this, but they followed Lu Shiyuan and left as well.

The old man watched the group leave with a look of deep regret.

Lu Shiyuan carried Xie Sili to a side room in the Jingzhao Prefecture to rest, and then sent his trusted confidant to inform Du Heng to come.

After taking Xie Sili's pulse, Du Heng immediately collapsed onto her body and burst into tears, a sight completely out of character for Manager Du. "My poor girl, how could you leave us so suddenly?"

Lu Shiyuan, Guan Lingsong, and Wei Lin were greatly alarmed.

"Du Heng, what did you say?" Lu Shiyuan asked anxiously, "You said the young lady has gone..."

Du Heng looked up at him and nodded, his words tinged with sadness, "My poor girl..."

Using this as an excuse, Xie Sili knew what Du Heng was thinking.

"Enough!" Xie Sili opened his eyes and sat up, his gaze falling on Du Heng. "Look at the state you're in now."

Everyone's attention then turned to Xie Sili.

“Miss…” The three of them swallowed nervously.

“The sickly persona is just a persona for outsiders.” Xie Sili looked up at them. “He was like this in Yuzhou City too. It’s not good to make Grandfather and the others worry.”

She lifted the covers, got up, walked to the table next to her, sat down, and poured tea for them.

"I have something to tell you all," Xie Sili said, looking at the group of people who had already sat down. "I will support Jun Qiyu to ascend the throne and become emperor."

"The person the young lady has chosen is actually His Highness the Prince of Yan?" Lu Shiyuan was slightly surprised.

“His Highness the Prince of Yan is a dissolute and womanizing young master. Even if we were to force him to ascend the throne, I’m afraid he wouldn’t be able to hold onto this empire.” Guan Lingsong looked slightly troubled. “Miss, why did you choose His Highness the Prince of Yan out of the blue?”

Hearing Guan Lingsong's words, Xie Sili turned his gaze to Wei Lin, knowing that he probably had the same idea.

With that identity and the power she now possesses, she could support Jun Qiyu's ascension to the throne even without using the people her brother left her.

But just as Guan Lingsong said, Jun Qiyu is now nothing more than a person who frequents brothels and indulges in beautiful women.

"May I ask a question, young lady? Why did you take a liking to His Highness the Prince of Yan?" Wei Lin thought for a long time before speaking. "Other princes would have been better choices."

Why did you choose Junqiyu?

Is he the male protagonist in the book?

The eldest prince calmly faced death after launching a coup; the second prince had no interest in the throne; and the third prince, who was the most secretive, caused a series of tragic accidents because he always wanted his mother's approval, and ultimately failed to fulfill his wish.

Even without her help, the throne would eventually have fallen into Jun Qiyu's hands.

She didn't want to change this outcome, so she could only push things along to complete the task. Perhaps she couldn't return to her original world, but at least she could bring peace and tranquility to the world.

"If I said that his personality is not what you see, would you believe me?" Xie Sili asked, not missing the emotions on their faces.

Receiving no response, Xie Sili continued, "It's alright. I entrust the matter of the Fang and Zhao families entirely to you. The three judicial departments will conduct a joint trial, with the Prince of Yan presiding. This matter will surely be redressed and the injustice cleared."

“Miss, let us think about this carefully when we get back,” Guan Lingsong and Wei Lin said. “We will definitely give you a satisfactory answer.”

Xie Sili nodded to them.

After watching them leave, Xie Sili turned his gaze to Du Heng, "How is my brother doing?"

“Young Master Xie is a man of his word. The poison in his body has not been completely cleared, and he needs to recuperate slowly.” Du Heng looked at her respectfully. “Miss, don’t worry. With me here, Young Master Xie will be fine.”

“I have complete confidence in Aheng’s medical skills.” Xie Sili turned his gaze to him. “Don’t tell your brother about this, and don’t let Ache and Yan Yan know either. The matter between the Fang and Zhao families is very complicated and also involves the First Prince.”

"Don't worry, young lady." Lu Shiyuan said respectfully, "We will absolutely not let the Fang and Zhao families off the hook. This time, His Majesty is also furious. We'll see how Fang Ye tries to deny it when the scene of bones is exposed."

As the three were talking, Cheng Yunfan, who had already organized the materials, walked over with the manual.

"Miss, everything has been organized and recorded." Cheng Yunfan said, handing the items in his hand to Xie Sili.

Xie Sili flipped through the booklet in his hand. With the added benefit of the corpse records, this record was more complete than the last one.

She turned the pages one by one, reading each one very carefully. Before she had finished reading, she heard Cheng Yunfan's voice, "Miss, when you asked me to send the coroner to the Zhenshan Pagoda, did you already guess about this matter?"

As soon as Cheng Yunfan finished speaking, she noticed that Lu Shiyuan and Du Heng were looking in their direction.

After reading the last few pages of the document in her hand, she closed the booklet and looked up at them. "If I said yes, would you believe me?"

“Of course,” Lu Shiyuan and Cheng Yunfan replied without hesitation.

“We believe whatever you say, young lady,” Cheng Yunfan said first. “But how do you know about that place?”

"There's a tower cover over that abandoned well, carved with totems. The old man made that cover himself, hoping that one day they could clear their names." Xie Sili glanced at them, picked up his cup, and took a small sip. "It's just a good deed the old man made."

Xie Sili twirled the cup in her hand and looked up at Lu Shiyuan and Cheng Yunfan. "I've discussed supporting Jun Qiyu with you before. With my current strength, even without the people my brother left me, I'm confident I can support him. But the country will eventually belong to him, and we can't afford to have an unstable foundation in the court."

“Miss, there’s no need to worry,” Lu Shiyuan said. “It all depends on how His Highness the Prince of Yan handles this matter.” He added with a serious tone, “In my opinion, His Highness the Prince of Yan seems unaware of your identity.”

"No need to tell him." Xie Sili waved his hand dismissively. "I'll take you back to my cell after I've had some sleep. I think chatting with the old man was quite nice. Once this is over, I'll bring him to Siyuan."

"Please rest well, young lady. We'll head out now." After saying this, Lu Shiyuan turned and left with Cheng Yunfan and Du Heng.

As they turned to leave, they glanced one last time at Xie Sili lying in the room.

Meanwhile, Jun Qiyu told the Emperor about this in the Imperial Study.

Seeing the emperor's expression, he thought for a moment and then poured him a cup of calming tea and handed it to him.

Noticing the Emperor's gaze, Jun Qiyu spoke without any hesitation, "If you were to die, I would be the first person to suspect you."

"Jun Qiyu!" Emperor Jun slammed his cup on the table. "How dare you speak like that?"

Jun Qiyu smiled dismissively and continued, "If the Zhao family is like this right under the Emperor's nose, then what about in places the Emperor can't see? Wouldn't even more of the same thing happen there?"

"The three departments will thoroughly investigate this case. I hope that no matter how much commotion it causes, Father Emperor will not be upset about it."

As Jun Qiyu gently rubbed the cup in his hand, he heard the Emperor's voice.
