Jiang Mian originally thought Meng Jing had already gone home.
But after dinner, Meng Su suddenly came to deliver something.
"Susu, what brings you here? Have you eaten yet?"
When Jiang's mother saw the visitor, she got up to get some food for Meng Su.
"No need to bother, Aunt Jiang, I've already eaten."
Meng Su waved to Jiang Mian, then secretly observed He Yubai standing to the side.
"It's good that you've eaten," Jiang's mother said with a smile. "Did you come to play with Mianmian?"
"no."
Meng Su shook her head, then handed over the bag in her hand: "My dad caught some fish and asked me to bring them to Aunt Jiang's house to give Mianmian and her friend some extra nutrition."
"Hey, your dad is too kind. He should just keep the fish for himself."
Although Jiang's mother was polite, she turned around and filled a bag with a lot of raw melon seeds for Meng Su: "Don't be so polite with your aunt, it's just a few melon seeds, take them back."
Meng Su scratched her head: "I didn't stand on ceremony with my aunt. It's mainly because my dad thinks that what my brother did was really unethical. He took people to play by the river, and not only did he get into trouble himself, but he almost caused trouble for others as well."
Jiang Mian, who was idly scrolling through videos, suddenly looked up: "Didn't your dad go to pick up your brother a while ago? What happened to him this time?"
"Huh?" Meng Su looked bewildered. "Mianmian, you don't know? My brother and my second brother went up the mountain to pick mushrooms, and after eating them, they both got poisoned and had to go to the hospital."
This news is both shocking and not so shocking, since every year there are always a few reckless people who go up the mountain to pick mushrooms and end up in the hospital.
To say I'm not shocked is also to say it's too unbelievable.
Jiang's father spoke faster than he thought: "Your brother is a college student, and he can't even tell if a mushroom is poisonous or not??"
Jiang's mother quickly pushed him away: "Even locals might not recognize him, what does it have to do with other college students?"
She really wanted to crack open Jiang Mian's father's head to take a look. Not to mention that Meng Jing was a college student, there were two other college students in the courtyard right now.
These words sound harmless at first glance, but upon closer inspection, they are quite a veiled insult. It's one thing to speak ill of one's own son, but at least there's still Xiao He to consider.
A grown man, all he's gotten is age, not brains!
Jiang's mother really wanted to roll her eyes.
"This was somewhat of an accident, my dad said..."
After Meng Su's explanation, Jiang Mian and the others understood.
Around noon, Uncle rode the bike straight home without picking up Meng Jing.
The aunt was puzzled at the time, because originally her eldest son had ridden the bike out, but now it was her own man who had ridden it back.
She asked her uncle what was going on, but this question angered him.
"What else is going on?! Your eldest son is about to fly to the moon! Where can't he go to play? He insists on taking Mianmian and the others to the river to fish. He might as well drown himself, rather than harm other people's children!"
After being yelled at and scolded by her uncle, her aunt finally understood what had happened.
That unfilial son of mine took Jiang Mian and his friends to play by the river, and someone fell and injured his leg, but fortunately, Lao Wen healed him.
Otherwise, he really wanted to beat that brat to death!
When Mianmian explained it to him, he realized that Meng Jing was the one who orchestrated everything. He had truly lost all face!
Fortunately, Mianmian's friend, the young man, looked quite energetic; a sprained ankle and some bone realignment would be enough.
If something were to happen to him by the river, his family would be devastated.
The two of them scolded Meng Jing, that brat, over and over again in the yard. When they were tired of scolding him, the aunt asked, "Are we still going to pick him up? His clothes are all in the car. He can't possibly run back naked, can he?"
"Screw you! You might as well die out there! You're over twenty years old, and you're always causing trouble and have no sense of propriety!"
The old man was so angry he was about to explode: "Whatever, he likes to party outside anyway. It's fine if he gets arrested by the police for being a hooligan while naked, at least he'll get a good lesson in the station!"
After he finished scolding him, the uncle stopped bothering with the matter.
Taking advantage of a free moment in the afternoon, he went to the reservoir and caught a few fish. Although he was too embarrassed to ask about Mianmian's friend's injuries at the time.
But who can blame him for having such a rebellious son? He causes trouble in front of everyone, and as the father of this brat, he can only cover for him from behind.
All parents in the world feel the same way. The uncle figured he couldn't bring himself to apologize, so he thought he might as well have Meng Su send the fish to the Jiang family.
Meanwhile, Meng Jing, who had been scolded by his parents several times, was helping Wu Erxiao pick mushrooms on the mountain, sneezing one after another.
Wu Erxiao advised him, "Brother Meng, why don't you go back first? The weather isn't cold, but you're naked, so be careful not to catch a cold."
"Stop talking nonsense! Hurry up and pick your mushrooms!"
Meng Jingcai refused to back down. If he did, wouldn't that mean he was weak? How could a man admit to being weak?
After working for half a day, the two finally filled the bag.
Wu Erxiao asked with some doubt, "Brother Meng, are you sure this mushroom is really not poisonous?"
"What? You're questioning whether I got into university with my own feet?" Meng Jing explained to him word by word, "The uglier the mushroom, the less poisonous it is; the prettier it is, the more poisonous it is. Haven't you heard of that?"
"I've heard of them, but these mushrooms we picked are really ugly!"
Wu Erxiao frowned deeply; the bag of mushrooms was ugly in its own way.
They were either pitch black, eerily pale, or looked like they'd been beaten to a pulp, like they had jaundice.
"If you really don't believe me, let's go to your brother's shop later and cook some for us. I just caught a few fish here, and if they're not poisonous, we can sell them to your restaurant's customers."
