Chapter 104 My Love is My Own Wish

After borrowing Jiang's father's clothes that time, He Yubai returned to the hotel and not only received his new cell phone, but also changed into his own clothes.

Jiang's mother originally meant that she would just change her clothes and send them over after returning to the hotel.

However, He Yubai seemed to have misunderstood. The clothes were indeed returned to the Jiang family, but they were delivered by a laundry shop employee.

The laundry clerk, beaming with smiles, bowed and said, "Mr. He has already settled the cleaning fee. Here are your clothes and pants, Mr. Jiang. Please put them away and sign here."

Mr. Jiang took the bag containing the clothes, still in a daze, and signed the form as instructed by the shop assistant.

This is the first time in his life that he has received clothes that have been cleaned at a laundromat.

As the person was about to leave, Jiang's mother casually asked, "How much did it cost to wash these clothes?"

Adhering to the principle that the customer is king, the shop assistant explained frankly: "The total cost for this entire outfit, after dry cleaning, drying, finishing, and ironing, is 890 yuan."

Jiang's mother was startled, but remembering that there were outsiders present, she forcefully suppressed the urge to scream.

But Jiang's father was not so calm. Upon hearing the price, he almost dropped the bag in his hand: "How much!?"

He was completely dumbfounded: "Over eight hundred?! You're robbing him! He's just a student, don't you feel guilty?! You're actually swindling a student!"

Jiang Mian covered his face as he watched. He hadn't wanted to go into detail about He Yubai's family background because he was worried that his parents would be scared if they thought the other person was a rich person's child.

I'm also afraid that being too cautious after getting along with someone will make me feel awkward.

As it turned out, what was bound to happen has happened. It seems that whether he told them first or later, his parents would have been frightened.

The laundry shop employee was startled by Jiang's father's sudden outburst of abuse. The woman was just a young girl in her early twenties, and she was stunned by the harsh accusations.

After a long pause, she said, feeling wronged, "I didn't lie. Mr. He has already paid the 890 yuan cleaning fee."

Seeing his father's determined attitude to find out the truth, Jiang Mian couldn't stand it anymore and stepped forward to send the shop assistant away.

Only then did he explain He Yubai's family background to Jiang's parents. This time, he dared not be subtle, but he also dared not go into too much detail. He simply tried to highlight just how wealthy the He family was.

Jiang's father's lips twitched slightly: "Mianmian, is Xiao He's family really that rich?"

They're even on the national rich list!?

Good heavens!

That must be a lot of money!

Jiang's mother was equally shocked: "Then I'll go buy some seafood tomorrow. I heard that rich people eat all sorts of delicacies, but Xiao He has only been eating simple dishes lately."

Jiang Mian felt that her mother was about to have a mental breakdown. She thought He Yubai was just a child from a well-off family, so she didn't feel any psychological burden.

When He Yubai comes to visit, she usually prepares some side dishes, and he always enjoys them.

But now that this truth has suddenly hit them, they must be quite shocked.

So on New Year's Eve, every household needs to sweep and clean to prepare for the new year.

He Yubai came to the Jiang family to help, but as soon as he picked up the broom to sweep the floor, Jiang's father rushed over and snatched it away, saying, "Little He, you go play with Mianmian. Uncle can sweep this place later."

He was a little confused, and then turned to help wipe the tables and chairs, but Jiang's mother rushed over again: "Xiao He, are you hungry? Auntie bought a lot of crayfish, I'll cook them for you later. Why don't you go out and play with Mianmian first?"

In short, he can't do this, he can't do that.

It seems like I'm being disliked?

Once he was outside the courtyard, Jiang Mian was already leaning against the outer wall, waiting for him: "What? You got kicked out by my parents too?"

He Yubai frowned: "I feel like Auntie and Uncle are acting strange today."

"Hahahaha... That's weird, that's for sure..."

Jiang Mian then recounted the whole story to him.

Jiang Mian wiped away the tears that had come from the corners of her eyes from laughing: "You have no idea, at the time my dad kept thinking that you must have been cheated by that laundry shop. He almost got into an argument with someone, determined to get justice for you."

After understanding the truth, He Yubai did not laugh with Jiang Mian. Instead, he said very seriously, "Uncle and Aunt are both very good people."

“Mmm,” Jiang Mian nodded in agreement, “But it seems like the two of them have been brainwashed by the short dramas they watch. They always think that since your family is rich and you are a rich second-generation young master, you will definitely look down on our family’s poor financial situation.”

“Look,” Jiang Mian gestured with her chin, “My mom probably told you, she bought a lot of crayfish.”

He Yubai nodded.

"She heard it from somewhere that rich people like you eat delicacies all the time, so she thought of buying some crayfish to show off. But she doesn't know that crayfish are farmed in freshwater, not seafood."

He Yubai then asked him, "Mianmian, will you feel ashamed in front of me because of your poor family background?"

"Hey He Yubai, just because you're a rich kid, do you look down on someone like me who comes from a poor family?"

Jiang Mian, however, asked him a question in return.

Without almost any hesitation, He Yubai reached out and ruffled his hair: "What nonsense are you talking about? We're good friends."

Jiang Mian smiled sweetly: "Great minds think alike!"

On New Year's Eve, they sat around the table together for dinner.
