Jiang Mian saw all of this. He knew that his father always cared a lot about his mother.
But that's how relationships are. Even though both parties care about each other the most, sometimes you can hurt each other's feelings without even realizing it.
After Jiang's mother left, Jiang Mian started talking to her father again.
"Dad, have you noticed that Mom looks much more haggard these past few days?"
Jiang Mian did not ask any questions, but stated the facts directly.
Jiang's father seemed to know something as well, and nodded slightly, saying, "Yes, your mother... she really has had a tough time. She has tolerated me for so many years, and now she is almost at retirement age, and she still has to live in fear with me."
The father and son seemed to understand each other perfectly without saying a word.
Although it was Jiang's father who was hospitalized, Jiang's mother was no less worried and distressed than anyone else.
Even under such circumstances, she was forced to be strong, afraid of affecting her child and not wanting her husband in the hospital to overthink things.
Jiang Mian once saw a quote: "Mom wasn't born a superhero. She was once a beautiful young girl who was afraid of thunder, cried in panic, and prayed that someone would help her."
The room fell silent. After a long while, Jiang's father finally spoke: "You've been traveling all night, so you should go back and rest. If you're really hungry, there are leftovers at home. Just heat them up and eat them yourself. Don't make your mother do anything else."
With his eyes closed, Jiang's father gave a hint that he was asking Jiang to leave: "I'll think about the orchard. Tell your mother not to worry too much. Go ahead."
"good."
Jiang Mian turned and went out the door.
