Chapter 159, Extra Chapter 15

As night deepened, I worried about Jiang Mian's safety walking outside alone.

When He Yubai sent the message asking the other party to come out, he was already waiting not far from the Jiang family.

The car headlights illuminated the darkness and road ahead, and also the suddenly appearing riverbank.

The other person seemed to have just taken a shower; although their hair was dried, it was still slightly damp, with a large clump hanging down their back.

He Yubai got out of the car the moment Jiang Mian appeared.

She immediately hugged the person who came, and said in a slightly aggrieved tone, "I haven't said a word to you all day. I missed you so much."

Jiang Mian was caught off guard and suddenly found herself in a tight embrace, while He Yubai shamelessly told her a lie.

I felt inexplicably guilty, but at the same time I was also a little smug.

So what if he's the eldest son of the He family? He still listens to her every word and likes her to no end.

She patted He Yubai's head and said in a comforting tone, "I'm sorry, I didn't expect my dad to be so... well, childish."

He is, after all, her father. She can't just speak ill of him after she gets a fiancé.

Rather than saying that Jiang's father was deliberately putting on airs, it's more accurate to say that he's getting old and starting to become childish and fickle.

He Yubai buried his head in her neck: "I understand Uncle Jiang. If my daughter grew up and suddenly brought home a boyfriend from outside, I would probably have kicked that brat out long ago."

Jiang Mian clicked her tongue: "Then you should pray that you'll only have sons in the future."

These doting fathers are terrifying!

He Yubai just chuckled lightly; the lingering shampoo scent on Jiang Mian's hair inexplicably intoxicated him.

The other person was probably about to go to sleep, and was suddenly woken up by me.

The fabric of Jiang Mian's pajamas felt very comfortable to the touch, smooth and slightly cool.

Even with such a soft and fragrant body in his arms, He Yubai's mind was not filled with any romantic thoughts.

Although it was late at night, there were hardly any people passing by.

But it's too strange to keep holding him like that.

Jiang Mian broke free from He Yubai's embrace, her face slightly flushed: "It's getting late, let's go back to sleep."

He Yubai was reluctant to let her go home. He had seen it all today, and he would probably wait until dawn tomorrow.

If I go to the Jiang family, I'll probably be made to do hard labor by Uncle Jiang again.

These things don't matter, it's just that Uncle Jiang treats him like a thief. As long as he gets a little closer to Mianmian and says a word or two, he's fine.

The other party was like the Queen Mother of the West, who blocked the love between immortals and mortals, wishing she could send one to the North Pole and the other to the South Pole.

He knew that these things couldn't be rushed, but he and Jiang Mian had finally overcome all obstacles and were together naturally.

He really couldn't bear to let go of that hand.

He Yubai tentatively asked, "How about I take you back to the hotel?"

Jiang Mian pursed her lips: "But I didn't bring my ID card."

"I don't need your ID card, I've already booked a room."

Jiang Mian: "..."

That sounds rather strange.

He Yubai immediately realized that he seemed to be driving too fast.

Mang cleared his throat and explained, "We'll just cover ourselves with a blanket and chat. I swear I won't do anything!"

Jiang Mian: "..."

It's better not to explain at all; the more you explain, the stranger it gets!

Although He Yubai was embarrassed by his increasingly worse explanation, he had to stick to his thick skin in order to win his wife back!

"Mianmian," He Yubai probed, "How about it?"

He gently pulled her along, and Jiang Mian didn't resist much, taking a step forward.

He Yubai knew that this matter had been accomplished!

The hotel room I booked was the same one as before.

Jiang Mian went inside and had a strange feeling of revisiting a familiar place.

He Yubai, on the other hand, was a gentleman; he kept his word and did exactly what he said he wouldn't do.

The two chatted until they got tired and naturally fell asleep.

The next day, Jiang Mian was woken up by the ringing of the telephone.

She reached for her phone next to her pillow and woke up with a start when she saw that it was Jiang's father calling.

He cleared his throat and answered the phone.

Jiang's father: "Where are you?"

Jiang Mian looked at the hotel room and lied without batting an eye: "I got up early and am having breakfast outside."

"Having breakfast?" Jiang's father's tone was initially indifferent, but the next second he launched into a tirade, "You're really something, aren't you? Do you have to go out in the middle of the night and wait for someone else to set up a stall just to have breakfast?!"

Jiang Mian was taken aback, as if she understood something, and said awkwardly, "Dad, since you already know, why did you ask this question on purpose?"

Jiang's father snorted, "Where are we now?"

This time, Jiang Mian had no choice but to honestly answer, "At the hotel."

"So you're with that brat, huh?"

Jiang Mian defended him, saying, "What brat? He has a name."

"Stop giving me this nonsense and get home! Also, bring that monkey back with you!"

After finishing his angry speech, Jiang's father hung up the phone immediately.

Jiang Mian was speechless. In an instant, he had transformed from a brat who was still human into a monkey.

Just how much does her dad dislike this future son-in-law?

He Yubai felt light and had already woken up when Jiang Mian answered the phone.

Seeing the other person's expression after hanging up, he asked, "Was that Uncle Jiang calling?"

“Yes,” Jiang Mian nodded, “He told us to go to his house now.”

He Yubai asked tentatively, "Is he very angry?"

"More or less."

Jiang Mian was speechless. If she wasn't angry, she wouldn't have called so early in the morning and even changed how she addressed you.
