Realizing that this was the reason, He Yubai felt a strange unease.
To be fair, Little Sheep and this Brother Meng are childhood sweethearts, inseparable since they were little.
Moreover, with the general public's open-mindedness, they are more accepting of these relationships between boys.
But when He Yubai thought about how Meng Jing liked Jiang Mian, what if the little lamb wouldn't reject him?
He instantly felt very uncomfortable, with a strange urge to get angry.
But he didn't understand what was wrong with him.
After all, he was no one to Jiang Mian, nor could he make decisions for her. If Jiang Mian really wanted to be with someone, he didn't seem to have the right to refuse.
After thinking it over and over, He Yubai felt even more agitated.
Ignoring Meng Jing and Jiang Mian, he took the long-handled net that Jiang Mian had just handed him, took off his shoes and socks, rolled up his trousers, and walked towards the river.
"I won't take off my clothes and go into the river; I'll just try my luck from the side."
After saying that, he left without looking back.
He Yubai thought to himself, since the two of them really like each other, he might as well do a good deed and not be a third wheel. He might as well leave them some alone time.
Meng Jing wanted to continue teaching him to swim, but saw that the other person had left without looking back.
He immediately felt a tightness in his chest, unable to breathe out or go down, and turned to ask Jiang Mian, "Was he flooded when he was a child, so he has psychological trauma?"
Why did his expression change the moment I mentioned teaching him to swim?!
“They probably think the river water in the wild isn’t clean and has too many bacteria,” Jiang Mian explained. “Given how rich his family is, building a swimming pool at home would be a piece of cake.”
"Isn't it clean?" Meng Jing sniffed himself. "I just swam around and came up. I don't smell bad. We used to bathe in this river every day when we were kids."
Jiang Mian corrected him: "It's you, there's no 'men'!"
Although he didn't have obsessive-compulsive disorder like He Yubai, he was still a clean person.
When they were kids, they always followed Meng Jing, the king of the kids, around. They were a carefree bunch of kids, so any unknown area in town could become a place for them to go on adventures.
Catching fish in the river, picking fruit on the mountain—as children, we were full of energy, using our short legs to explore and satisfy our curiosity.
Of course, some of these kids did things that seemed normal and competitive at the time, but now seem pretty stupid.
Back then, they always liked to take weekends off and walk along the river from downstream to upstream.
Then a few people in the group would stand on the riverbank upstream, take off their pants, and urinate into the river.
A bunch of tiny kids, even when they're just trying to pee, they'll compete to see who can pee the farthest, as if that will give them a sense of superiority.
Of course, Jiang Mian did not participate in such a foolish thing.
Although he was young at the time, he still felt that doing such a thing was really outrageous.
What's even more outrageous is that after they've finished urinating and comparing themselves to others, they'll go back to the middle reaches of the river to fish.
When Jiang Mian saw them strip naked and rush into the river, a certain thought welled up in her mind, but she couldn't quite express it.
Thinking about these things now, he almost wanted to roll his eyes at Meng Jing.
After urinating upstream, you run to the middle reaches to bathe and catch fish. Don't you feel like you're covered in filth?!
Now that the town has developed, the things discharged into the river are no longer just urine.
This place is probably full of advanced technology and ruthless tricks, yet Meng Jing can still lie through his teeth.
Jiang Mian was too lazy to argue anymore.
Seeing He Yubai looking serious as he tried his luck by the river, Jiang Mian quickly tried to get Meng Jing away: "Brother Meng Jing, why don't you hurry up and go fishing in the river? Let me tell you, my classmate is always very lucky. Don't let him catch fish in the net while you haven't caught a single one."
"Stop bragging," Meng Jing said with a look of disdain. "Fish may not have much memory, but they're not stupid either. How could they possibly swim to the shore and get caught in his net for no reason?"
"Just wait! I'll go down into the river right now and catch a few for you, so you can see what I'm capable of!"
Ignoring the discomfort of his underwear sticking to his body, Meng Jing rushed into the river after saying this.
"Splash!"
With a splash, he was completely submerged in the river.
Jiang Mian shook her head and smiled slightly: "As expected of the once innocent and simple-minded leader of the children."
They're so easy to fool!
Upon seeing Meng Jing, Jiang Mian suddenly thought of Zhou Ziyu.
These two have quite similar personalities. If Zhou Ziyu were here, hearing Meng Jing's boastful tone, he probably wouldn't be able to suppress his competitive spirit.
With no one else around, even the air felt much quieter.
Jiang Mian didn't get off the bus; instead, she leaned back against the seat in front of her.
The white clouds weren't drifting lazily; instead, they formed a vast, continuous expanse, and he gazed at them quietly with his head tilted back.
As the breeze stirred, the clouds gradually shifted from their original positions, and a few birdsongs suddenly emerged from the nearby bushes.
Fortunately, Meng Jing is much quieter when he's fishing; otherwise, with his constant startling noises, the birds on the shore would have been scared away long ago.
I tilted my head back and pretended to sleep for a while when I suddenly heard a "thump" in my ear.
It was as if someone had fallen in the river. Jiang Mian smiled with her eyes closed, thinking to herself, "Who would be so silly as to fall in the river? That's really bizarre."
But as he was laughing, the next second he suddenly opened his eyes, sat up straight, and looked towards the riverbank.
As expected, what came into view was He Yubai, who had fallen into the river!
