Chapter 149 Flowing Clouds Rush to the Vast Sea
They were busy for an unknown amount of time until the clouds on the horizon couldn't wait any longer, dyeing half the sky red and crowding together in the sky as if joining in the fun, waiting for this wedding that everyone was watching.
Everyone who had been busy running around finally took a break, each dressed in red, excitedly awaiting the arrival of the newlyweds.
Zhong Li'an, standing in front of the mansion gate, was also holding a plaque and guarding the gold ink that had already been prepared, eagerly awaiting its arrival.
Gradually, the sound of horse bells came from afar, and cheers erupted from the crowd, who quickly made way for him.
Everyone looked up and saw the white, moon-riding warhorse galloping majestically towards them, the large red flower around its neck swaying back and forth with each step.
On horseback, Bai Ming, dressed in his wedding attire, rode with excitement and nervousness. The wedding attire was magnificent and solemn, making his figure appear particularly agile and handsome. His eyes, as vast as the ocean, gazed expectantly ahead, revealing a deep longing yet an undeniable youthful innocence, as if a seasoned general had suddenly vanished, replaced by a carefree young man from an ordinary family.
His hand gripping the reins was sweating, and his Adam's apple bobbed as a tension welled up inside him. Gazing at the festive scenes before him, he was momentarily unsure whether it was real or an illusion.
The setting sun hid behind the mountains, its warm rays reflecting off the floating clouds in the sky, while the other half of the sky, as blue as the sea, was rippled by the sunlight.
The rosy clouds, bathed in sunlight, immediately came to life, surging across the sky and rushing towards the sea with shimmering golden light.
The sky rippled, and the so-called vast sea seemed to be touched, turning into layers of waves that surged toward the fiery, flowing clouds.
"She's here! The bride's here!"
Someone shouted, and everyone in the room became excited and looked towards the other side of the street.
Bai Ming's heart started pounding. He instinctively pulled on the reins and slowly walked towards the commotion in front of him.
A string of firecrackers suddenly exploded with a loud bang. Looking around, a streak of fire suddenly leaped out from the crowd. The red-horned horse, with its head held high, neighed and raised its hooves, making the person on horseback look even more heroic.
The fiery red wedding dress swayed in the wind, blending seamlessly with the sunset glow on the horizon.
Her face was covered by a red veil, so her features were not clearly visible, but her eyes were particularly captivating.
Yang Xiao's eyes reflected the setting sun, filled with a smile, like a spark igniting a vast, boundless sea.
In an instant, a streak of light exploded, illuminating the bottomless abyss. A blazing gaze, accompanied by a burning warmth, swept towards Bai Ming, like a raging fire that ignited the entire city of Chang'an.
Bai Ming was instantly captivated by Yang Xiao's rosy eyes. His breathing quickened unconsciously, his heart pounded faster and faster, and his mind was filled with the image of Yang Xiao riding towards him.
He had never seen Yang Xiao like this before.
Her eyes sparkled with an unprecedented passion and laughter. He gazed at those eyes with longing and desire, trying to see through her elusive beauty, but they were mostly obscured by the red veil fluttering in the wind.
The bride was not allowed to show her face in front of everyone, but her eyes were the most captivating feature. He wanted to go further, but was kept out by the ethereal and untouchable veil. He could only gaze longingly into those eyes, wanting to pour out all the emotions in his heart through the flow of her gaze.
Upon seeing Yang Xiao, Bai Ming forgot everything. He disregarded everything else and spurred his horse straight towards her. His smile was unrestrained and radiant, and before he even reached Yang Xiao's side, he leaned down and reached out his hand to her.
It was an involuntary feeling from the bottom of my heart; even if I could only touch the hem of her clothes, it was worth it.
The next moment, those smiling eyes, like flowing clouds, suddenly appeared before her. Yang Xiao also pulled on the reins and bent down, placing her hand firmly in Bai Ming's palm and holding it firmly.
In an instant, the two warhorses, one white and one red, circled and twisted, resembling the union of yin and yang fish, creating a beautiful scene.
Another cheer erupted from the crowd, and the entire city of Chang'an rejoiced at the gesture of "ten fingers connected to the heart".
The moment their eyes met, it was already destined that they would belong to each other for the rest of their lives.
"Please have the bride and groom step over the brazier!"
Yang Xiao pulled Bai Ming back around and looked ahead. They saw a long strip of charcoal burning in front of the mansion gate.
The flames flickered, as if the rosy clouds at the edge of the sky were reflected on the ground.
Yang Xiao smiled at Bai Ming, tilting her head slightly, "Are you ready?"
“This time,” Bai Ming stroked her fingertips, “I won’t be distracted.”
Yang Xiao immediately smiled, her bright eyes sparkling. She nodded slightly, then pulled on the reins, "Giddy up!"
"drive!"
In an instant, the two warhorses, Chi Lian and Ta Yue, neighed simultaneously and galloped forward.
Upon reaching the charcoal fire, they did not hesitate for a moment, leaping across it like a rainbow bridge in the sky.
The blazing flames flashed past their eyes, and the billowing smoke obscured the magnificent scene before them.
They were still holding hands.
This journey is from meeting to knowing each other, from loving each other to cherishing each other; it is from meeting on the battlefield based on our own abilities; it is from going through all the hardships and embarking on the journey together.
They had already overcome many hardships together, and after exchanging guns, they met on the battlefield. From then on, they stood side by side in Yingchuan, cooperated from within and without in Nanyang, fought desperately in Lujiang, and broke through enemy lines in Chang'an with their own bodies...
Their hands have never parted. Not only in the past and present, but also on the long road ahead. They have already stepped from a chaotic world into a peaceful one, and naturally they will walk hand in hand through this prosperous age.
Two long spears, tied with red ribbons, stood tall amidst the cheers of the crowd.
Zhong Li'an, standing to the side, nodded with emotion. Looking at the two energetic and affectionate newlyweds, he couldn't help but sigh with a wistful smile and stand up.
The long brushstrokes, rich in gold ink, display elegant and unrestrained calligraphy on the plaque.
“Ling, Tian, Fu”.
"Look! His Majesty has inscribed plaques for the two generals!"
The crowd erupted in cheers once again. Yang Xiaobai and Ming exchanged a glance, dismounted, and knelt before Zhong Li'an, saying, "Thank you for the plaque, Your Majesty."
Zhong Li'an put down his brush and leaned over to help the two of them up. "I've watched you two come this far." He looked at them with a smile. "Lingyu, Zhaoqing. Congratulations on your marriage."
Before long, a plaque adorned with red satin flowers was hung on the gate of the mansion, and the sounds of music filled the air, stirring the emotions of the two men.
They exchanged a glance, then stepped hand in hand into the main hall. Bright red ribbons hung from the rafters, and the fragrance of flowers and fruits wafted towards them. Holding hands, they sincerely bowed to heaven and earth, and to their elders, before rising to stand facing each other again.
They gazed at each other tenderly, then bowed deeply. The pendants on their flower crowns gently touched, producing a melodious, crisp sound that resonated in their hearts.
The gift of a gun symbolized their friendship, and their recognition on the battlefield led them to face the trials and tribulations of war together. They went through countless life-and-death situations, parted countless times, and met again countless times. They had long since become one with each other, their bond flowing endlessly in each other's hearts.
As the two bowed to each other, their backs touching, all the past emotions and hardships were settled in their hearts.
A cheer erupted in the hall. The two stood hand in hand, looking at the crowd below with emotion.
A glimmer of golden light flashed outside the hall, and Yang Xiao couldn't help but turn her head to look—she saw their spears, bound with red ribbons, standing by the door, bathed in the last rays of the sunset, as if witnessing their wedding.
"Please, newlyweds, enter the bridal chamber!"
After all the formalities were completed, the master of ceremonies stepped aside to make way for the two, and immediately flower petals fluttered down and landed on their heads.
A petal landed on Yang Xiao's veil, reflected in Bai Ming's eyes. His heartstrings trembled slightly, and he gently plucked the petal from her skin. His affectionate gaze met Yang Xiao's eyes again, causing a slight ripple.
The door was gently opened, and a very familiar ornament appeared on the wall.
Yang Xiao looked up and saw that the jade disc that had been shot down by an arrow in the Qixi Arena was now wrapped in red silk and hung firmly on the wall.
A warm feeling washed over her, and just as she turned to ask a question, she bumped straight into Bai Ming's arms.
He reached out and put his arm around Yang Xiao's waist, gently stroking her face through her veil. He was momentarily speechless, his movements as stiff as when he confessed his love. Time seemed to fly by, and everything before him felt like a dream. A tear rolled down his cheek.
"What's wrong?" Yang Xiao's heart skipped a beat when she saw this. She quickly raised her hand to wipe away his tears. The two of them suddenly closed the distance between them, their breaths mingling through their veils.
"Back then, when we were looking at that jade disc, we were still separated by vast distances." Bai Ming sighed deeply, gently holding Yang Xiao's hand and placing it on his chest, then shook his head. After a long silence, he smiled through his tears and said, "I just feel that we've been through so much together."
He leaned closer to Yang Xiao, stroking her fingertips. "I used to think that our marriage was something very, very far away, but now, you are standing right in front of me."
Yang Xiao raised her hand and touched Bai Ming's face, smiling, "Fortunately, we've overcome all these difficulties, haven't we?"
"Hmm." Bai Ming took a deep breath, smiled and nodded, then looked solemnly at Yang Xiao.
Her eyelashes fluttered slightly, but they couldn't hide the emotions in her eyes. Bai Ming was immersed in a sea of tenderness in Yang Xiao's eyes. He gently raised his hand, went around to the back of her head, and reached for the rope of the veil.
The veil fell away, revealing Yang Xiao's smiling face to Bai Ming. He was momentarily speechless, his heart pounding as if it would burst from his chest. He gently stroked Yang Xiao's cheek as if he had found a precious treasure, his eyes filled with deep affection.
"Please, Generals, drink the nuptial wine together." The maid waiting at the door saw that Yang Xiao's veil had been removed and hurriedly brought forward a wine cup and a box of pastries.
Yang Xiao's gaze involuntarily fell on the box of osmanthus cakes. She turned her head to look at the maid, "These cakes are..."
The maid nodded and said, "This was sent by someone from Bingzhou. They said it must be delivered to the two generals on their wedding night."
"Someone from Bingzhou came to deliver it, but they're unwilling to show up?" Bai Ming looked at the box of pastries with a puzzled expression, then looked at Yang Xiao. "Xiao, do you have any clues?"
Looking at the last carp-shaped pastry, Yang Xiao couldn't help but shake her head with a smile. "Of course, the fact that she gave me this carp pastry is also a kind of 'carp left behind'."
"You mean, these pastries...were sent by Xiao Yan?"
“Yes,” Yang Xiao nodded with a smile, then looked up at the maid and said, “These pastries might make your throat feel greasy. Take them out and distribute them to the guests. Just leave the carp for me.”
"Yes." The maid nodded, placed two cups of wine on the table, carried the pastries out of the room, and considerately closed the door behind her.
Bai Ming stared at the closed door, his gaze then falling on the two glasses of wine on the table. He hesitated, then said, "Ah Xiao, about this wine, how about we..."
“Things are different now. It’s just a glass of wine, nothing will go wrong.” Yang Xiao smiled at Bai Ming, shook her head gently, then picked up her wine glass and gently tapped it against the rim of his glass.
Bai Ming couldn't persuade her otherwise, so he picked up his cup and placed it across hers, but he still frowned slightly. "I'm afraid you'll feel uncomfortable, Xiao."
A warm feeling washed over Yang Xiao. She reached out and put her hand around Bai Ming's neck, whispering, "I already practiced with Xiao Yan, so nothing will happen." She then chuckled and tilted her head playfully to look at Bai Ming, "Besides, how could I take advantage of you without drinking some wine?"
Bai Ming's face flushed red. He avoided Yang Xiao's gaze, but involuntarily wrapped his arms around Yang Xiao's waist, leaned forward slightly, and followed Yang Xiao's lead, pressing his lips to the wine glass.
Yang Xiao's trembling eyelashes instantly filled his entire eyelids, his breathing became inexplicably rapid, and he closed his eyes and drank the wine in one gulp.
Yang Xiao swallowed the burning sensation in her throat, looked up at Bai Ming's slightly flushed cheeks, and suddenly an idea came to her. She raised her hand and gently stroked Bai Ming's chest, then forcefully pinned him against the wall.
Bai Ming was pushed back several steps, and fearing that Yang Xiao might slip away, he kept his arm around her waist. He leaned against the wall, trying his best to calm his breathing, but his chest heaved even more violently.
"Ah Xiao..." he gasped, tentatively looking into Yang Xiao's affectionate eyes, "You..."
Before he could finish speaking, Yang Xiao tilted her head back and kissed him. The unfinished probing immediately entwined between their lips and tongues, and strands of affection filled their cotton-like minds.
A tingling sensation swept through Bai Ming's body, causing him to stiffen before collapsing. He leaned against the wall, holding Yang Xiaoqing close, his chest rising and falling with each breath, feeling a burning warmth coursing through his body.
Adam's apple, collarbone, chest, waist, and finally, the trembling stopped at his belt. Bai Ming's breath hitched, and he was about to open his eyes to ask a question when, suddenly, his belt was yanked, pulling him straight away from the wall without loosening its grip even slightly.
He coughed lightly from the sudden tug, and when he looked down, he saw Yang Xiao holding his neck with concern. Looking down again, he saw her hand gripping his belt.
His heart pounded, a burning sensation spreading throughout his body. He could no longer restrain himself, wrapping his arms around Yang Xiao's waist and pressing closer to her neck, his voice trembling slightly, "Can't you untie it, Xiao?"
Yang Xiao was forced back by his weight, and before she could take a step, she fell onto the bed. She looked up and saw Bai Ming pressing down on her without hesitation.
He braced himself on the bed with one hand, and with the other hand behind his back, he easily pulled his belt off, causing his once neat robes to fall apart, revealing his muscular chest and the numerous scars on it.
Yang Xiao gazed at the all-too-familiar scar and couldn't help but raise her hand to cover it. In an instant, a wisp of heat seeped into her palm, surging through her entire body.
She felt the surging and powerful heartbeat, and looked up to see Bai Ming's eyes filled with deep affection and restraint, while his lips were slightly red, as if stained with a few dots of rouge.
She couldn't help but chuckle softly, raising her hand to gently touch Bai Ming's lower lip. "This rouge has ended up on your lips, my husband."
