Chapter 169 It's More Than Just Master and Disciple

At that moment, Xiao Lingshou's heart grew colder and colder.

Pain flashed in his eyes, and then a cold smile gradually appeared on his frightened and incredulous face.

He looked at the man in front of him with a sorrowful smile, and instead of retreating, he walked towards the man.

His master, who had been with him for over ten years and taught him martial arts, now wanted to kill him.

The man's expression was indeed cold, but after the sword had penetrated his chest an inch, the hand holding it stopped exerting force. The veins on his calloused hand bulged from the effort, but the sword did not go any further.

"Can't bring yourself to do it?" Xiao Lingshou asked with a mocking smile.

For every step he took forward, the man took a step back.

Panic gradually spread across the man's face, and his hand gripping the sword trembled uncontrollably.

"Don't come any closer..." His eyes showed pain.

The scene remained deadlocked for a moment, then a murderous glint suddenly appeared in his eyes, and he abruptly drew his sword.

Xiao Lingshou felt a sharp pain in his chest, and blood instantly soaked through his chest.

But he had no time to attend to his wounds, for the man's face was like that of a demon as he swung his long sword down at him.

He instinctively raised his sword to block, trying to force the man back. He swung his sword, but just as he raised it to point at his master, the man crashed directly into his sword.

The sword in Xiao Lingshou's hand was naturally a rare treasure, bestowed upon him by the emperor when he was still young.

In the blink of an eye, the longsword easily pierced the man's chest.

The man, who had always stood tall and straight like a pine tree, let his hand fall limply, his longsword slipped from his grasp, and he collapsed backward as if all his strength had been drained.

Xiao Lingshou stared blankly at the gleaming white blade, stained with blood, as it slowly left his body.

Seeing the hole in his chest, blood gushing out, the murderous intent on his face vanished, and his expression showed no fear or despair, only relief and peace.

"Master...Master..." Xiao Lingshou dropped the sword in his hand and bent down to help the man on the ground.

Blood also flowed from his chest, but the blood dried quickly, and the wound on his chest was only a superficial one.

But the man's wounds were fatal.

"If the ruler commands the subject to die, the subject has no choice but to die." He looked at Xiao Lingshou with a desolate smile.

Upon hearing this, Xiao Lingshou was completely disoriented and instinctively wanted to call for the imperial physician, but the man raised his hand to stop him.

Then his master, the person closest to him, died by his sword.

From then on, the story spread like wildfire throughout the capital, and was embellished and exaggerated to the point of being unrecognizable.

The emperor's only eldest son, Xiao Lingshou, became the target of everyone's hatred in their eyes. He was seen as the one who killed his master, and was disloyal, unjust, unkind, and unfilial.

But now, Xiao Lingshou no longer cared. With a smile on his face, he stroked the thin letter in his hand, looking at the crooked and messy handwriting. For the first time in many years, he found it quite interesting.

He stroked the two characters "as teacher" written by Chang Lili, raised his eyebrows slightly, and murmured softly, "The relationship between you and me is more than just that of teacher and student."

The location of the Light Machine Department has always been a mystery; its very existence is a mystery, and many ordinary people are completely unaware of its existence.

However, anyone who knows of its existence cannot help but feel a sense of awe, after all, it is a mysterious and vivid existence.

It is located in a secluded paradise, a place that only members of the Light Machine Unit can enter and live in.

The scenery here is picturesque and peaceful, but the people who live here seem somewhat out of place with this natural landscape.

A lame old man, looking quite energetic, reclined on a tree branch, looking down contentedly at the middle-aged man reeking of alcohol under the peach tree: "Hey, is there any more wine? Give the old man a jar too!"

The middle-aged man frowned impatiently, picked up a wine jar and threw it haphazardly upwards. The old man, quick-witted and agile, was startled.

After catching the wine jar, he breathed a sigh of relief and lay back down, saying, "Thank goodness I'm good at it, otherwise this fine wine would have been wasted."

As he spoke, he opened the bottle and gulped down a few mouthfuls before sighing, "I'm so tired of being around you guys all the time. Look at you all, all young people, but you don't act like young people at all. You're always listless and bored. It's so boring!"

They were in a forest, where a long table was set up. A handsome young man, even somewhat immature in appearance, stood beside the table, looking down and fiddling with the exquisite objects in his hands. The table was full of various blacksmithing tools.

He seemed not to hear the old man's words, focusing intently on his hammering and banging, exuding an aura of "do not disturb me."

A girl next to him, who was also fiddling with a metal object in her hand, was not happy about it.

She had a bright and beautiful face, clearly the apple of the eye of some wealthy family, and everyone had always indulged her since she was a child.

She glanced furtively at the boy beside her before turning to the old man and angrily saying, "We haven't even complained about you yet, and you're already complaining about us. Do you think we want to stay with an old man like you who's practically on his deathbed?"

The old man choked on his drink and nearly fell off the tree branch.

"You...you little brat, how dare you talk to an old man like that! I bet no one would want you if you were this savage!" the old man said angrily, then turned and lay on his side on the tree branch, looking determined not to pay any more attention to her.

Upon hearing this, the girl was furious. Her gaze involuntarily drifted to the boy who was engrossed in making parts at the table, and she blushed with embarrassment.

"You...you! I don't need anyone to want me! I am the eldest daughter of the Jiang family. I am the one who chooses others, and no one ever chooses me!" she shouted.

The middle-aged woman, drunk as a rag doll, was unresponsive. The old man was no longer willing to pay attention to her, while the young man at the table frowned uncomfortably.

The girl was so angry that she trembled all over, stomped her foot hard, and turned to go back into the house.

After the girl left, the old man turned around and sighed, "That girl is really not to be trifled with." Then he added with great interest, "Have you heard? Someone is about to go and try to break through the traps!"

The middle-aged man let out a burp and said lazily, "He asked for trouble."

A somewhat immature boy standing at the table, with a coldness on his face that seemed incongruous with his appearance, said, "It's none of my business."

"Can't you guys act like young people? At this point, you should be shocked, then curious, then expectant. Maybe if we have another person, it'll make things more lively and interesting, right?" The old man almost jumped up, saying unwillingly.

Then the other two ignored him, and his enthusiasm vanished as if doused with cold water.

He sighed, shook his head, and lay back down on the tree branch, saying sadly, "How boring! How could I have been so foolish as to come to this godforsaken place and swear I would never leave? I'm spending my whole life with you boring young people. I'm so old now, and I can't even enjoy a peaceful life."

As he spoke, he wiped away non-existent tears.
