Chapter 181 Inside and Outside the Machine

Before Meng Yuxiu could say anything more, the woman got up as if it were the most natural thing in the world, displaying a rather self-willed attitude.

She got up and took a tinderbox from somewhere, then lit the remaining oil lamps on the wall one by one.

As oil lamps were lit one by one, every corner of the vast space was illuminated, and the two could see clearly that this place, which resembled a cellar, was surprisingly large and had everything they needed for daily life.

Strangely, there was no rouge or face powder on the woman's dressing table, only a sandalwood comb and some simple hair ornaments.

Once all the oil lamps were lit, the woman put away the tinderbox and stood in the center of the room.

In the middle of the room, a patch of open ground was covered with soft fur, as if it were a stage specially prepared for women.

The woman bowed slightly and gracefully performed a greeting.

Then something strange happened. Even though no one was playing music, the sound of orchestral instruments could be heard, and the woman began to dance gracefully to the ethereal music.

The woman's delicate, boneless figure moved with a light and graceful grace, truly a beauty like a painting, as if a celestial maiden had descended to earth.

Chang Lili looked around but couldn't find the source of the music. She always felt that the music seemed to be coming from the woman's body.

Meng Yuxiu looked at the woman with a puzzled expression. Compared to the woman's beauty, both of them couldn't suppress their curiosity.

Such a woman, with her extraordinary talent and stunning beauty, should have been famous. It's clear that even the well-informed Chang Lili was unaware of her existence. Could it be that this woman had been living within the trap array all along? What did she eat? What did she drink?

Meng Yuxiu surveyed his surroundings, and Chang Lili was also looking around. Her hand restlessly touched the small stool beneath her; the stool really felt nice to the touch.

She looked at the teacup on the small table; the golden tea was truly irresistible.

Then she noticed something blue and shiny under the table, which was particularly eye-catching.

She pulled it out and saw that it was a book with the title "Inside and Outside the Machine" prominently displayed on it.

“This book title…” Her eyes darted around, she frowned, and found herself speechless.

There was still a blue glint under the table. Although she knew she shouldn't touch the owner's things, she couldn't resist her curiosity. Besides, she was just taking it out to look at it and didn't think there would be any problem.

When she took it out, she saw the words "Martial Arts Manual" written on the book. Chang Lili froze for a moment, feeling that the name was too straightforward and childish.

Suddenly the music stopped abruptly. Chang Lili felt something was wrong. Before she could even look up, she felt a chilling and gloomy aura rushing towards her.

The woman who had been dancing gracefully just moments before suddenly lunged at Chang Lili like lightning. Her once charming and gentle face was now completely devoid of smiles, resembling a ruthless demon. Her slender, white fingers transformed into deadly weapons, aimed at Chang Lili's neck.

When Chang Lili saw that beautiful face appear before her in an instant, she felt as if she had fallen into an ice cave, but she didn't have time to react.

Those slender fingers were straight as blades, with glistening, sharp nail tips that were even sharper than a knife blade.

The hand suddenly stopped, just inches from Chang Lili's neck, trembling slightly from the force used.

On that snow-white wrist, a hand with clearly defined bones was exerting force until the knuckles turned white.

Meng Yuxiu reacted quickly and, being on guard, grabbed the woman's hand. However, his expression was serious and his thin lips were tightly pursed.

He had thought the woman was just fast, but he hadn't expected her strength to be so extraordinary.

With his martial arts skills and years of battles, very few people could surpass him in strength alone. Yet the person before him was just a delicate woman. It was hard to imagine that she would have such strength.

Even when he grabbed her, her hand still managed to slip a little further in.

"Li Li!" Meng Yuxiu suddenly shouted.

Chang Lili was somewhat confused about the situation. Even though Meng Yuxiu had grabbed the woman's wrist and used all his strength to stop her, she was still able to remain calm and composed.

Startled by the shout, she immediately stepped back. In that instant, Meng Yuxiu was also exhausted, and the woman's hand missed its target.

But she quickly turned back to Chang Lili with a blank expression and said emotionlessly, "It was you who tried to steal the master's things."

Chang Lili looked puzzled. Seeing the book in her hand, she quickly threw it aside, hid behind Meng Yuxiu, and explained, "I didn't mean to steal anything. I was just curious and took a look."

The woman, however, remained expressionless and repeated, "You're trying to steal your master's things."

Meng Yuxiu frowned slightly. His arm was aching from using too much force, and the touch of the woman's wrist when he grabbed it was icy cold, like that of a dead person.

"I already said I was just curious and wanted to take a look. I didn't know it was something I shouldn't see. As the saying goes, ignorance is no excuse..." Chang Lili was still explaining incessantly when the woman over there made her move.

She had no eyes for Meng Yuxiu, only for Chang Lili who had taken the book, and she looked like a heartless killing machine.

Meng Yuxiu could sense that he had no chance of winning in a head-on confrontation; this woman was far superior to him in both strength and speed.

He turned around and hugged Chang Lili, dodging the woman's attack.

Chang Lili also became puzzled; the woman in front of her seemed rather abnormal.

"You're completely unreasonable!" Chang Lili shouted impatiently as she was held in Meng Yuxiu's arms.

But aside from unleashing her deadly attack, the woman only kept repeating the same phrase: "You're trying to steal your master's things."

Chang Lili immediately felt that although this woman had a face that could launch a thousand ships, she had a broken mind.

But then she felt something was off. At first, she thought the woman seemed like a normal person, just that her speech was a little strange, and she thought it was a quirk of a hermit.

But looking at her now, her overly pure gaze, her overly perfect face, and her somewhat irrelevant remarks when she talks to people all seem strangely odd.

"Who is your master? Tell your master to come out and talk!" Chang Lili shouted, unable to bear it any longer. The woman was in such a state that she could no longer communicate.

She was determined to take Chang Lili's life, and her attacks were incredibly fast, accurate, and ruthless. Fortunately, Meng Yuxiu was able to dodge them.

“She’s acting strangely.” Meng Yuxiu was already out of breath, and said in a low, cold voice.

Chang Lili was completely overwhelmed: "I know!"

After dodging another attack from the woman, Meng Yuxiu started running to the side, where Chang Lili saw a wooden door.

Given the current situation, if we can't win, we can only hide.

But the woman pursued him relentlessly, so much so that she completely blocked Meng Yuxiu's path.

Meng Yuxiu, who was holding Chang Lili, and the woman who had taken the initiative, were practically playing a cat-and-mouse game.

"What kind of monster is she! She's been fighting for so long without even turning red or out of breath. Is she the ruthless person you were talking about who broke through the trap formation with just her martial arts skills?" Chang Lili asked with a look of horror.
