Chapter 52 Weapons for Defeating the Enemy in One Strike

"Hey, has anyone fixed my spear? Can you fix my red-tasseled spear for me?" A crisp, clear girl's voice suddenly rang out.

The noisy military workshop only quieted down for a moment before returning to its bustling state.

The crackling sound of blacksmithing was incessant, along with the buzzing of human voices, but the girl's voice ultimately sank without a trace.

With nothing else to do, Chang Lili was inevitably drawn to the sound.

She saw a pretty face peeking out from among the dusty, disheveled soldiers.

Despite being a young woman, she grabbed a blacksmith and asked rudely, "Master, could you fix my gun?"

The craftsman immediately waved his hand and walked away.

Chang Lili found it very strange, wondering how there could be women in the army. She came to ask someone to repair her weapons, but no one paid any attention to her, and the experienced craftsmen all ignored her.

As a woman herself, she felt a sense of shared suffering and, almost as if possessed, she got up and walked towards the girl.

The girl's personality suited Chang Lili's taste. Seeing that no one paid attention to her, she went up to one blacksmith after another and asked them questions, not even letting go of the old masters. She was quite straightforward.

But everyone rejected her and ignored her.

Chang Lili walked over and patted her on the shoulder. She immediately turned around and looked at Chang Lili with a scrutinizing gaze.

"Are you here to repair weapons? Long spears?" Chang Li asked bluntly.

The female soldier circled around her, then asked curiously, "You're a woman too? But your attire doesn't look like a soldier's; you look more like someone from the military supply department. What are you doing here?"

Chang Lili coughed twice, thinking that this girl was really clueless, and held out her hand: "Let me see the spear you want to repair."

The woman looked delighted: "What? You can repair weapons? I didn't expect the military workshop to have a female instructor. You're really amazing!"

Being praised so sincerely, Chang Lili felt a little lightheaded, but she pretended to be reserved and said, "Let me see your gun."

The woman immediately and respectfully handed over the spear, smiling and clasping her hands in greeting, "My name is Lu Ming. May I ask how this young master should be addressed?"

His words carried a hint of admiration, suggesting a desire to make acquaintance.

Chang Lili carefully examined the spear in her hand and casually said, "My name is Chang Lili."

"Oh, it's Master Chang! It's a pleasure to meet you," Lu Ming said happily.

Chang Lili, however, was focused on the spear and ignored her.

This spear is of superior quality, with an exquisite design, a light body, and a sharp blade, making it quite suitable for women to use.

However, the spear at this moment had a small piece broken off its blade. It wasn't due to wear and tear over time, but rather because it had clearly suffered some heavy blow.

Chang Lili couldn't help but shake her head, feeling that this spear was truly remarkable.

Lu Ming became anxious: "What's wrong, Master Chang? Is there any hope?"

Chang Lili felt uncomfortable being addressed like that so suddenly, and quickly waved her hand and said, "Just call me Lili. Of course there's hope, but although this gun is a good gun, it's a bit lacking in lethality."

"Lethality?" Lu Ming leaned over and looked at it with Chang Lili.

"This one shot probably won't be enough to kill the enemy; we'll probably need another shot," Chang Lili said, gesturing.

Lu Ming's eyes immediately lit up: "Yes, yes, Master Chang is right. This was given to me by my father, but I also feel that it is not powerful enough."

Those in the military equipment department, seeing Chang Lili and Lu Ming chatting, felt disdain and thought the two were quite well-suited to be together.

Everyone found it amusing when they heard Lu Ming call Chang Lili "Master Chang".

However, they lost interest in caring about the two after that and just went about their own business.

“I have a suggestion,” Chang Lili said thoughtfully, “This gun can be slightly modified to become a deadly weapon that can defeat the enemy in one move.”

"Really?" Lu Ming asked excitedly, "How do I change it?"

Chang Lili stroked the sides of the spear's blade, looked at Lu Ming, and said with a smile, "These sides can be ground into grooves. After that, when you stab this spear into the enemy's abdomen and then pull it out, it will have the effect of barbs. Even if it can't kill the enemy, it can make them suffer so much that they can't continue fighting."

Upon hearing this, Lu Ming slapped his thigh and exclaimed with delight, "That's truly a brilliant idea! Master Chang is incredibly clever!"

She was a straightforward girl who didn't know how to restrain herself. At this moment, she was so happy that her voice unconsciously rose, attracting the attention of those around her.

Chang Lili immediately pulled her aside and whispered, "If you think it's okay, I'll fix your weapon and help you modify it."

Lu Ming nodded repeatedly.

Chang Lili looked worried and said, "Every advantage has its disadvantages. Although it has destructive power, it also has drawbacks."

Seeing her solemn expression, Lu Ming lowered her voice and said solemnly, "Master Chang, please speak freely, I can accept it."

"This spear is small and light, and easy to use, but with the added grooves, while it will inflict greater damage on the enemy, it will also require more effort," Chang Lili said worriedly, looking at the girl's figure, which was completely unrelated to her robust physique.

Lu Ming waved his hand dismissively: "Master Chang, there's no need to worry. In this battle formation, brute force is naturally necessary. A good horse needs a good saddle, so you don't need to worry about that."

She said magnanimously, giving Chang Lili a gentle nudge: "Besides, you don't know how dangerous the battlefield is. It's full of swords and bloodshed. Being able to kill with one blow is the key to victory. Otherwise, it will leave behind troubles and miss opportunities in battle."

Looking at her young and innocent appearance, yet speaking with an air of maturity, Chang Lili found it somewhat amusing.

"In that case, it seems I don't need to worry anymore. I'll go ahead and modify it, and I'll definitely give you a gun that can kill with a single shot." Chang Lili said, patting her chest.

Lu Ming grasped Chang Lili's hand and said, "Thank you so much. When can I come and pick up the gun?"

This was the first weapon Chang Lili had repaired and made since she came to the military workshop. Being called "Master" and entrusted with such a task, she suddenly felt an indescribable sense of mission.

“Originally, it was just a repair, which would have taken a day, but now that it’s going to be renovated, it will take several days.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Ming looked delighted and expectant, patted Chang Lili on the shoulder and said, "Then I will come to pick it up in five days. I wonder if that will be enough time?"

In that instant, Chang Lili felt a heavy responsibility on her shoulders, and she couldn't help but tighten her grip on the spear.

"Five days will be enough. You can come and pick it up then without worry," she said suddenly, full of confidence.

Seeing that Lu Ming had left, Chang Lili looked at the spear in her hand and secretly resolved that she would definitely transform it into a weapon that could defeat the enemy with a single blow, so as not to fail Lu Ming's trust.

The experienced workers showed absolutely no interest in what was happening here.

The blacksmiths, who were less experienced, overheard their conversation and couldn't help but smile, thinking that Chang Lili was overestimating herself.
