Chapter 157 Shameful Things?

Chapter 157 Shameful Things?

Li Rong himself was speechless for a moment when he met Jiang Nuanzhi's slightly strange gaze.

It's not very convincing; it's just that some things are simply too embarrassing to talk about.

Now the children sleep in the west wing with Anuan, while Xinbo and the Imperial Advisor naturally sleep in the east wing with him.

It was one thing not knowing the Imperial Advisor was a woman before, but now that I know. Even if the Imperial Advisor is old, surely she shouldn't be sleeping naked in a room, right?

However, given the Grand Preceptor's masculine appearance, it would be inappropriate to have him sleep in the same room as Ah Nuan.

He naturally had his own unspeakable suffering.

Seeing that Jiang Nuanzhi was still staring at him, Li Rong coughed lightly and changed the subject, saying, "Nuanzhi, I've almost finished processing the medicinal herbs for you these past two days. Would you like to take a look?"

Jiang Nuanzhi raised an eyebrow: "What did you help me with?"

"It's the pearl powder and atractylodes you ordered before you left. It's all been ground up, and I asked Young Master Lü to put it on top of your medicine cabinet."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Nuanzhi went straight into the house and carefully took down the large box on top.

Inside the box were ceramic jars of various sizes, each filled with finely ground powder. She opened them one by one to examine them closely; some jars contained powder even finer than what she could grind herself. A look of surprise crossed her face: "Did you make all of this?"

“The children helped out too.” Li Rong said, scratching his head a little embarrassedly. “I’m just an idle person, and now that my legs aren’t working well, I can only do these small things.”

"You've saved me a lot of trouble!" Jiang Nuanzhi said with a beaming smile. "In that case, I'll buy the bottle tomorrow, and I should be able to make this whitening ointment in less than a day. Hey, could you help me grind the herbs more often in the future?"

Li Rong touched his nose: "If you don't mind, I'm fine with it."

Jiang Nuanzhi rubbed her hands together, her eyes filled with excitement: "In this way, after selling the ointment a couple more times, we should be able to have a big house."

Li Rong was taken aback: "Do you want to move?"

Jiang Nuanzhi blinked: "Can we change it?"

Li Rong: "Hmm?"

Jiang Nuanzhi suddenly realized: "That's right! We can change houses! This yard is too small now, and we grow fewer fruits and vegetables than others. Maybe we can buy a larger plot of land to build a house."

Li Rong: "Build a house?"

Jiang Nuanzhi: "Hmm, don't you think this house is too small? We're not as strapped for cash as before, and we have some spare money. Maybe we can consider it."

We'll find a good spot then, and build several bedrooms. The children will be grown up and each should have their own room. There will also be a room specifically for me to make medicine and see patients.

Don't you like practicing calligraphy?

We'll reserve a room specifically for you to use as a study.

Then we need to build a bigger stable. Now we not only have Xiaoli, but also Daniu. Daniu is our newest donkey. From now on, they'll have a place to shelter from the wind and rain.

And then there's Big Black. We'll build him a beautiful doghouse someday. Right now, this one's just made of planks, and it's drafty all the way through. Big Black gets soaked every time it rains.

"And we can't forget about Chicken Big and Chicken Little. We need to build a nice chicken coop, and then we'll catch a brood of chicks so we can eat our own eggs every day and save ourselves the trouble of buying them."

Li Rong's star-like eyes widened for a moment, then he suddenly nodded: "Okay."

Listening to her rambling on, Li Rong was slightly lost in thought. Come to think of it, his former residence had been extremely luxurious; it was the residence of a former dynasty's prince, and after several twists and turns, it was bestowed upon him by the Emperor. However, he didn't have a deep impression of that residence. After all, he rarely returned to the capital.

He mostly lived in the main tent, and his tent would be moved to a different location every now and then, as if there was nothing special about it.

Hearing Jiang Nuanzhi's words, a faint sense of anticipation arose in my heart.

If it's really as she says, I wonder what a lively scene her home must be like.

Jiang Nuanzhi smiled and glanced at him, then noticed his legs and suddenly blinked: "I'll send you something in a couple of days."

Li Rong was stunned: "Huh? What?"

Jiang Nuanzhi raised an eyebrow: "It's a secret, you'll find out when the time comes."

Just as Li Rong was about to ask another question, Jiang Nuanzhi stood up and said, "The vegetables are cooked."

As they spoke, they picked out some vegetables and placed them on a plate, then sprinkled some seasoning on them. They then picked up a piece of roasted mushroom to eat: "Hmm, it tastes good, you should try some too."

Li Rong readily picked them up as well. He didn't find them particularly delicious, but seeing how much Jiang Nuanzhi enjoyed them, he inexplicably started eating them along with her, bite by bite.

"Hey, that's going too far! Doing such shameful things in the yard in the middle of the night!"

Just then, a head suddenly popped out from behind.

Both of them were startled.

Upon seeing the newcomers, the two women reacted in completely different ways. Jiang Nuanzhi rolled her eyes and said disapprovingly, "Why do you both like to whisper behind people's backs? It's terrifying, don't you know?"

Li Rong's face turned bright red, his mind filled with the shameful things the old man had said.

I wanted to offer some explanation, but when the words came to my lips, I felt that they were not appropriate to say them.

The old man, seemingly oblivious to anything amiss, squeezed between the two and snatched the tray from Li Rong's hands.

"You two, this is a one-time thing, don't do it again! Next time you eat out, you must invite me!"

After saying that, he picked up a roasted potato and stuffed it into his mouth.

Jiang Nuanzhi found it amusing and then put another batch of vegetables into the oven.

"There's plenty more, please enjoy your meal."

As he spoke, he couldn't help but yawn and stretch his shoulders, saying, "I'm a little sleepy."

He then looked at Li Rong and said, "Li Rong, are you full? If you are, I'll take you back so you can get some sleep."

"Oh, no need for that trouble." Before Li Rong could even speak, the old man waved his hand at Jiang Nuanzhi and said, "I'll take him back in a bit. You should go to sleep."

Jiang Nuanzhi thought for a moment and nodded: "That's fine too."

After that, the two of them went inside to rest.

I have to go to the county tomorrow, and I'm thinking of getting back to make medicine as soon as possible, since there's not much time left before my appointment with Huayue.

Li Rong stared at Jiang Nuanzhi's retreating figure, his lips moving several times, but he ultimately said nothing. However, when he turned back to look at the old man, a chill ran through his eyes.

The old man was extremely protective of his food, immediately covering his plate as if afraid Li Rong would snatch it away.

Li Rong's lips twitched, and he threw all the potato slices in his hand onto his plate.

It smelled delicious just a moment ago, but now I've lost my appetite.
