Chapter 278 You think you can handle this with your small frame?

Chapter 278 You think you can handle this with your small frame?

Xie Liangchen frowned instinctively upon hearing this, turning around to look. He saw a tall man before him, his figure accentuated by a black, fitted outfit. The man had thick brows and dark skin, suggesting he wasn't from a noble family. He also noticed a long sword at the man's waist, a style commonly used by the Tianji Pavilion. Xie Liangchen frowned further, asking, "Who are you?"

Xie Liangchen instinctively turned to the side to protect Jiang Nuanzhi behind him, and frowned as he looked at Chen Shu.

Jiang Nuanzhi's fists were still clenched so tightly they were cracking, and she was momentarily stunned when Xie Liangchen suddenly pulled this move.

He was caught between a punch and a reluctance to retract it. He squinted at the two men, pondering what to do next.

Chen Shu was even more bewildered. It seemed that this young Marquis Xie had some kind of connection with his wife, and was even protecting her. As Chen Shu looked over, he was stunned by the scene before him.

As an artist, I have to admit that the picture in front of me is truly beautiful.

The man was tall and elegant, his clothes somewhat worn, yet he retained his refined bearing, and his appearance was exceptionally handsome. After all, he was once the renowned Young Marquis Xie, famous throughout the capital; even in his current state, his mere presence seemed to dim the world around him.

Standing half a step to his side was the young woman who had captivated him at first sight, and now, standing beside the renowned young Marquis Xie, she was in no way inferior. Her loose, languid robes were casually rolled up, revealing her fair wrists. A gentle breeze blew, causing her long hair to dance like a waterfall. In the sunlight, her skin appeared even more like snow. Her eyes were captivating. If it weren't for her clenched fists and somewhat intriguing expression, the scene would have been even more harmonious.

Chen Shu stared at it, completely absorbed.

Xie Liangchen subconsciously lifted his long sleeve to cover Jiang Nuanzhi's face and said in a deep voice, "You should go back first. This person is probably not a good person."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Nuanzhi couldn't help but twitch her lips: "Young Master Xie, you don't actually think that if you really encountered some bad guys, your small frame could handle them, do you?"

Xie Liangchen's previously tense expression froze for a moment. She subconsciously glanced at Jiang Nuanzhi, and the image of her beating the tall, obese Zheng brothers to their knees and begging for mercy at the entrance of Gu Kui Academy inexplicably flashed into her mind. Even now, the memory still made her teeth ache; the scene was truly too brutal.

He awkwardly withdrew his hand, touched his nose, and tried to say something but couldn't utter a single word for a long time.

Jiang Nuanzhi glanced at Xie Liangchen's thin frame, reluctantly withdrew her fist, turned around and said as she walked away, "You'd better worry about yourself. Don't get beaten up by one of my customers. Otherwise, you might have to pay for a doctor's visit."

Xie Liangchen quickly caught the two words, and his handsome eyebrows furrowed tightly: "Diner?"

"Oh, right, right. I'm here to buy food from Doctor Jiang."

Chen Shu snapped out of his daze and immediately explained with a smile, "Young Marquis, we met in the capital before. I even attended the poetry gathering you organized. I suppose you don't remember me."

Xie Liangchen pursed his lips: "You don't need to call me Young Marquis Xie anymore. The past is like passing clouds. Now I, Xie Liangchen, am nothing more than a sinner."

He remained vigilant, secretly watching Chen Shu.

Chen Shu seemed to be in a daze, bypassing him and going straight into the courtyard. Without saying a word, he found a place to sit down on the ground. He then took out paper and pen from his pocket and sat there writing and drawing.

Xie Liangchen stared at him for a while, and seeing that he didn't make any big moves, he turned around and went into the house. Then he turned to look at Jiang Nuanzhi: "Fatty, I have something to say to you."

At that moment, Jiang Nuanzhi was squatting by her own oven, bending over to start a fire. The firelight made her face even warmer. Hearing this, she didn't even look at Xie Liangchen, but simply said, "If you're still like you were before, then you don't need to say anything. You'd better leave while I still think you have no bad intentions and are unwilling to do anything. If I'm in a bad mood later, I might hit someone."

As he spoke, his fists clenched so tightly they cracked.

Xie Liangchen looked at her face, which was slightly sweaty, and paused for a moment, but did not take a step forward. He only said, "What I said to you today comes from the bottom of my heart. You should think about it carefully. I am doing this for your own good. After all, I was your former master."

"Xie Liangchen, don't force me to take action."

Xie Liangchen quickly shut his mouth, looking at Jiang Nuanzhi with a tense expression and disbelief in his eyes.

Jiang Nuan was about to lose control of her inner rage. How come she had such a nice face, yet spoke with such a fatherly tone?

Xie Liangchen turned and left before he could explode.

Jiang Nuanzhi rolled her eyes: "He's smart to know his place."

Chen Shu: "!!!"

Is it really possible that someone would speak so fiercely to Young Master Xie's face, and even try to lay a hand on him?

There's a story behind it, definitely a story behind it!

On his way back, Xie Liangchen frowned, lost in thought.

The fingers holding the rock candy inside the sleeve were already slightly white at the tips.

"I told you, none of the Li family members are good people. Just you wait and see, Jiang Pangya will be ripped off by these people."

Under the big tree, several young women and old women had finished breakfast and were doing needlework while chatting.

When Zhao Yuniang saw Xie Liangchen, her eyes lit up, and she ran straight towards him, blocking his way.

"You came from over there, you didn't go to Jiang Pangya's house, did you? Explain yourself, what were you doing there? Oh dear!"

Xie Liangchen was lost in thought and didn't notice his surroundings. He bumped into her before he could dodge. Zhao Yuniang was dizzy from the impact: "What are you doing?"

Xie Liangchen frowned when he saw Zhao Yuniang: "What are you doing?"

"Oh, isn't this Xie Erlang? I just saw you coming out of the Li family. Are you also planning to propose to Doctor Jiang?"

"Xie Erlang is handsome. If he were to propose marriage, Doctor Jiang might very well agree."

"Yes, yes, yes, wasn't Doctor Jiang only interested in Xie Erlang before? She only married Li Dalang out of necessity."

"That's right. Don't even mention it, Xie Erlang looks like a celestial being, and Doctor Jiang wasn't good-looking before, but now she's even more beautiful than a real person. They're quite a good match."

Everyone started teasing him, and Xie Liangchen's face instantly turned a deep shade of liver: "Aunties, please have mercy! This is all baseless!"

Xie Liangchen explained this, and then strode back.

Upon hearing this, Zhao Yuniang suddenly flew into a rage: "Matchable my ass! That short-lived Jiang Pangya, how could she be worthy of our Liangchen? If any of you spout this nonsense again, I'll tear your mouths apart!"
