Chapter 295 Don't cause a death

Chapter 295 Don't cause a death

The old man picked up a green ear of corn that hadn't even fully grown yet, and his face immediately turned as black as the bottom of a pot.

However, there were quite a few ears of corn like this at his feet, simply left lying on the ground.

His expression grew increasingly grim, but then, with a dark look on his face, he walked straight toward the group and grabbed another man as if he were a chick. His hand gripped the man's neck, his gloomy eyes fixed intently on him.

"Uncle Jing, hit me as you please, but don't kill anyone."

Jiang Nuanzhi frowned as she looked at the corn that they had nibbled on and carelessly discarded on the ground. Clearly, these people didn't know how to eat corn; they took a bite, found it unpalatable, and then threw it away.

Actually, wasting grain is quite common in the village, but such waste is a rare sight in this farming family. Jiang Nuanzhi's anger was rising.

The old man's expression softened somewhat after hearing Jiang Nuanzhi's words, and he muttered, "You little brat, you're such a nuisance."

His dark eyes stared at the terrified man in his hand for a long while, then he impatiently tossed him aside, sending another flying. Immediately following was a heart-wrenching scream.

Jiang Nuanzhi quickly scanned the crowd and, sure enough, saw a lean man sneaking into the tall cornfield.

She narrowed her eyes and, in a few quick steps, caught the person.

"Wang Mazi, it's been a long time."

"Jiang Pangya, you...you...don't do anything reckless!"

Wang Mazi stared at Jiang Nuanzhi with terror in his eyes, unpleasant memories of stealing the dog flooding back. He swallowed hard, stammering, "Grandma, I...I...I have nothing to do with them! I didn't steal this land from you! Look, I don't have anything on me!"

"Are you alright?"

Jiang Nuanzhi narrowed her eyes slightly and smiled at him.

The first thing Wang Mazi saw was her stunningly beautiful face. Her clothes were being held by those small, white hands, and for a moment he was mesmerized.

That little vixen. How could she have grown up like this! Ever since I saw her face while stealing the dog, I've spent countless sleepless nights lingering outside her house, waiting for that old man to leave. But he's always there, and I still haven't gotten my chance. It's really annoying.

Seeing him smile at him now, Wang Mazi instantly became excited. But just as he was about to get closer, he heard two sickeningly loud "ka-ka-ka" sounds.

His arm was pinched twice by the woman's pale hands, and then strangely, he couldn't muster any strength. It just hung down like that.

Wang Mazi didn't react at first, and subconsciously glanced at his arm. The lewd look on his face hadn't faded yet.

Jiang Nuanzhi raised an eyebrow and kicked him in the knee.

There seemed to be a moment of silence, and then a deafening howl suddenly burst from Wang Mazi's mouth.

In fact, at this moment, screams still echoed everywhere. Wang Mazi wasn't the worst off.

Many villagers had already come out of their homes to watch the excitement. However, they all kept their distance and dared not approach.

Widow Wang was initially squeezing through the crowd, happily watching the commotion, but the next second she saw Wang Mazi, and she immediately felt terrible!

"Ouch, you heartless bastard! How could you hit my brother? Help! Someone come quick! The doctor has hit someone! The doctor has hit someone! He must have done this on purpose to make money. If you don't release him, I'll report you to the authorities!"

When Widow Wang saw her younger brother lying on the ground, half-dead and wailing, she was immediately enraged: "I'll fight you to the death!" she shouted and charged forward as if her life depended on it.

Jiang Nuanzhi kicked Widow Wang away and then stepped on Wang Mazi's back.

"You ask me why I hit him, but why don't you ask him why he was in my field?"

"Oh dear, what's wrong with you? Why are you hitting me? My son, wake up, wake up!"

"Dazhu, Dazhu, wake up! Honey, look! Dazhu's been beaten and is vomiting blood!"

Just then, several older villagers rushed out from among the onlookers.

The onlookers began to point and whisper.

"That Dr. Jiang really went all out; how did he manage to beat someone up like this?"

"Exactly! Even if they stole some grain, they should just make them pay for it. Why go to such lengths?"

“If she doesn’t use strong measures, who will buy grain from her? Who will buy medicine from her? How will she make money if she doesn’t sell medicine?”

"Don't say that. Doctor Jiang doesn't charge us much when he sees us!"

"That was before, but that's not necessarily true now."

Most villagers had witnessed grain theft frequently; if caught, they'd just get a scolding and pay compensation. It wasn't just one or two people eyeing Jiang Nuanzhi's land; after all, she was a widow living alone with such a large plot. Naturally, everyone wanted a piece of the pie. Seeing Jiang Nuanzhi's ruthless actions, everyone felt a sense of unease.

"That's right, everyone come and help!" Widow Wang's face lit up with joy when she saw everyone say this: "That Jiang girl is definitely up to no good."

Jiang Nuanzhi was amused by Widow Wang's words: "I have no good intentions? It was Wang Mazi who led people to ruin my family's grain. After my children found out, he even beat my children. He dared to hit others, so naturally, he has to bear the consequences of being beaten."

As Jiang Nuanzhi spoke, her gaze swept coldly over the old man, who had already dealt with all the remaining people.

"I, Jiang Nuanzhi, am always reasonable, but if someone comes knocking on my door, I'm not afraid of trouble. If you want to avenge your child, you can come and try!"

Of the men in the group, half were from the village. The others were Wang Mazi's cronies from outside, all petty thieves and no good people to begin with.

To be honest, many people in the village are related by marriage. There were quite a few people glaring at Jiang Nuanzhi now. But after hearing her words, not a single one dared to step forward.

"So it turns out he stole something and hit someone's child, that's why he got hit in return! He deserved it!"

"Exactly! I knew someone like Dr. Jiang wouldn't hit someone for no reason!"

"That's right! I've long disliked Wang Mazi and his gang. They've been bullying everyone in the village every day. It's really satisfying to see them like this now!"

"Absolutely!"

Widow Wang, seeing the situation worsening and those cowards too afraid to step forward, gritted her teeth in anger. Hands on her hips, she pointed at Jiang Nuanzhi and said, "What you say goes! I'd say you're slandering them without any basis! Saying they stole things and beat children—who saw it? If you saw it, step forward! If not, you're just making things up!"
