Chapter 318 Li Rong? General?

Chapter 318 Li Rong? General?

The young princess looked at Xie Liangchen with a strange expression: "Why are you so far away? I came here to see the general, what's so special about me?"

Xie Liangchen looked at him suspiciously: "Does anyone believe what you're saying?"

If she really came to Li Rong, why would she be in her own room?

He couldn't help but frown: "Regardless, please leave my house immediately, Princess. After all, men and women should not touch each other."

"We can't leave, we can't leave!" Afu was rubbing his hands anxiously beside him. "Young master, the princess lives in our courtyard and it costs money. She gets one tael of silver a day."

Xie Liangchen couldn't help but frown. Had he given the silver?

The young princess beside her narrowed her eyes: "What do you mean by that?"

Seeing that the little princess was already getting a bit angry inside the cage, Xie Liangchen was about to say something when he heard a commotion outside. The little princess's eyes lit up, and she immediately peeked out from behind the wall.

"Here it comes! Give it your all and make it smell even better!"

Seeing the young princess's furtive behavior, Xie Liangchen subconsciously took a few steps forward, looking at her with a hint of wariness in his eyes: "Princess, what are you doing?"

The young princess glanced at him: "Of course, it's to prepare for welcoming my general."

The princess looked uneasy and nervously stared at the group of people outside.

Xie Liangchen was stunned. Following her gaze, he saw Anuan and her family saying goodbye to their guests. Who was the general? And what was their relationship with the general?

Jiang Nuanzhi went out to see off Uncle Zhang's family and Aunt Wang, and then she and her family packed up the pots and pans they had temporarily brought over, preparing to go back.

Jiang Nuanzhi spent the whole day getting ready, but some finishing touches are still missing. She wants to move in before winter, so she has to hurry.

"What does it taste like? Who's making meat soup?"

The waiter's nose twitched, and he couldn't help but look around, asking with some puzzlement.

"That's true." Ping'er replied calmly.

The young princess's eyes lit up; she had been waiting for this day. She suddenly stepped on the guard's back to stand up, and was about to speak when she heard Ping'er say something from the other side.

"But the broth smells really fishy. I'm too full, and the smell is really unpleasant now."

"Me too."

"Mother's soup is still the best."

"Ah Nuan's candied hawthorns are delicious." Uncle Xin grinned, showing off his big white teeth, and looked over. "Ah Nuan, candied hawthorns. I want some."

"Mother, I want to eat too."

"Yes! I want to eat candied hawthorns."

"No problem, I'll do it when I get back."

The young princess watched them walk away, her anger flaring. Just as she was about to shout, Yu Chuan stopped her. Yu Chuan held her tightly, and only after the group had passed did she pat her chest with lingering fear: "Princess, I was so scared! General Xin looked this way just now, and it made my heart sink."

"Get out of here! Why are you pulling me like that?" The little princess almost shouted.

“Princess, I was just afraid you would lose face. After Young Master Li finished eating, I told him that the meat soup was no good. It was far inferior to other people’s.”

Yu Chuan still can't forget the aroma wafting from that courtyard. None of them know how to cook. They're all roughnecks. Even the princess is completely clueless about cooking. She herself doesn't even have an appetite for the hot soup she makes, let alone anyone else.

"Yuchuan! This princess thinks you're asking for a beating!"

The young princess flew into a rage, grabbed a wooden stick, and chased after Yu Chuan, beating him mercilessly. Chaos erupted in the courtyard.

Xie Liangchen frowned. He vaguely gleaned two words from their conversation: "What do you mean by that? General Xin? Young Master Li?"

Unable to catch up with Yu Chuan, the young princess threw the wooden stick at her from a distance, then turned back and glared at Xie Liangchen: "Are your eyes not working properly? Didn't you just pass by!" She grew angrier with each word, and roared in Yu Chuan's direction: "Damn it, Yu Chuan, get back here right now! Have you even found out when the general is coming back?!"

Xie Liangchen was completely stunned: "General? General!"

Is he the general he's thinking of?

The young princess, however, vaguely focused her gaze on Xie Liangchen, a smile appearing on her face: "Hey, Young Marquis Xie, you've been neighbors with the General for so long now, tell me about the General."

Xie Liangchen: "Neighbor?"

The young princess looked at him with dissatisfaction and said, "Why are you making such a show? Don't you even recognize General Li Rong? You even wrote a poem for him back then."

"Li Rong? The eldest son of the Li family?" Xie Liangchen's face suddenly turned pale.

"Hehehe, Princess, you're really joking." Afu laughed, "If we didn't know, we would think that the former Great Jing War God Li Rong was that good-for-nothing eldest son of the Li family in the backyard. Don't tease us."

The young princess narrowed her eyes: "Do I look like I'm joking? And who are you calling a good-for-nothing?"

Afu's laughter abruptly stopped, and the air fell into a deathly silence.

"Waiter, go to Aunt Niu's house and buy a few brooms. Also, ask Aunt Niu if the wicker baskets I asked for are ready yet."

"Ping'er, Fusheng, you two keep an eye on the installation of the iron gate. Your brother Lü and I are going out to buy some more things."

At dawn, Jiang Nuanzhi's new house began another busy day. After giving instructions, she hurried downstairs.

"Uncle Zhang, thank you for your hard work."

Uncle Zhang was polishing a cabinet inside the house when he heard this. He smiled and waved his hand, saying, "Don't mention it, Dr. Jiang, go ahead and get busy. We can handle this."

Jiang Nuanzhi picked up Baozhu, grabbed her booklet, and drove the donkey cart out the door. There were still many things missing at home, so Jiang Nuanzhi took all her silver with her.

"Anuan, what are they doing?"

On the way, Lü Shizhu watched the villagers running around in the fields and couldn't help but ask them a question out of curiosity.

Jiang Nuanzhi looked over and saw that almost everyone in the fields was burning handfuls of dry grass and bending over to smoke their own land. She sighed and said, "They're warming the millet seedlings. The ground froze early this year, and there was already frost this morning. The villagers have no other choice but to keep warm like this to try and reduce the chances of the millet seedlings freezing to death."

Lü Shizhu nodded: "No wonder. Do you need to smoke your land?"

Jiang Nuanzhi said, "The two old men went to have the fumigate done at the crack of dawn. There's no need for that now."

"I hope the weather gets warmer so all the grain can ripen. This year, grain prices are ridiculously high. Luckily, I stocked up on some beforehand."

The two talked for a short while before they arrived in the county.

"What did you say? How much does this millet cost per shi (a unit of dry measure)?!"

"Five taels of silver, take it or leave it. If you want something cheaper, go buy the wheat bran over there!"

The rice shop assistant snorted coldly, his nostrils flaring.
