Chapter 350 Did he believe Chi Heng's nonsense again?

Chapter 350 Did he believe Chi Heng's nonsense again?

Li Rong touched the package behind him: "No. I was planning to pick out some nice things before I came back, but I was in such a hurry to come back that I didn't have time to buy them. I only have some small gifts that I bought in Canglin earlier. I was going to send them back, but the snowstorm delayed them, and they're still in my backpack."

Chi Heng stroked his chin: "Let me see it."

"Li Rong, don't tell me this is the gift you bought for Madam?" After opening the package, Chi Heng was completely dumbfounded: "What the hell are these little oil paper packets?"

Li Rong frowned: "These seeds were bought by a merchant from the Western Regions. He said they could grow into different kinds of flowers and plants."

Chi Heng's lips twitched, then she looked at the dusty cloth bag: "What about this?"

Li Rong looked over and said, "These are silver needles. I noticed they're not quite the same as the ones Ah Nuan usually uses, so I thought I'd buy some for her and see if she could use them."

Chi Heng rummaged through the package, becoming increasingly speechless with each look: "I'm not trying to be mean, but women love beauty, and you've got this pile of seeds, these dried-up, worthless herbs, and these silver needles—they're completely useless. I really don't know what you were thinking."

The next second, his eyes lit up, and he took out a small Western mirror from inside: "Hey, you do have some brains. This is not bad. I'm sure women would like it. Take this and try it out."

Seeing Chi Heng's careless handling, Li Rong slapped his hand away: "This is what I picked out for A Nuan. She'll probably like it. Don't mess up my seed."

Chi Heng scoffed, "Trust me, if you put this in, she'll throw it out for you. I've got experience, just use this mirror, it'll definitely work."

Li Rong glanced at Chi Heng with suspicion: "Are you sure?" Upon hearing this, Chi Heng's eyes widened immediately: "You doubt me? You can doubt other things about me, but you can't doubt my control over women's hearts! I ask you, who was the most popular man in the capital back then? How many women wanted to marry into my Duke's mansion, can you even count them? My confidantes alone are enough to fill a whole table! You, someone who has hardly ever seen a woman since childhood, actually doubt me?"

Li Rong was initially confident that even if his gift didn't quite touch A Nuan's heart, she would probably like it. However, after Chi Heng's words, he suddenly began to have some doubts about his gift.

Ultimately, he doesn't seem to be popular with women.

Just like Zhao Xiyue before, she still had to kick me while I was down, which must mean she loathed me to the extreme.

It seems that back in Kyoto, women would run away whenever they saw him.

Only Princess Xiao seemed to have some feelings for him, but that stemmed from the fact that he had saved her. In truth, they hadn't really interacted much.

Buying gifts like this wasn't something Li Rong did often.

In comparison, Chi Heng certainly had many female confidantes.

Li Rong hesitated for a moment, then finally stood up with the bronze mirror in his hand: "I'll trust you one more time."

Chi Heng immediately patted his chest and said, "Trust me, you can't go wrong."

Seeing that Li Rong was about to step forward, Chi Heng immediately grabbed him again: "Wait, there's something else. Remember to say some nice things to her."

Li Rong was taken aback: "Sweet words?"

Chi Heng looked at Li Rong with a puzzled expression: "What's with that expression? You didn't say anything sweet to her, did you?"

Seeing Li Rong's horrified expression, Chi Heng frowned: "Why are you acting so clumsy even when you meet someone you like? No wonder they don't like you. You two haven't said anything nice to each other, have you?"

Li Rong's face flushed red instantly: "Yes, there are some too."

Remembering that Ah Nuan called him handsome before, I suppose that must have been a sweet talk?

Thinking about it carefully, I realized I probably hadn't said anything sweet to Anuan, so I frowned and asked, "What are sweet words?"

Chi Heng couldn't even manage a smile anymore: "I'm starting to feel sorry for my sister-in-law now. How did she end up with such a roughneck like you? And she has to spend the rest of her life with you. Just thinking about it is enough."

Li Rong frowned: "I can learn. Teach me."

Meeting Li Rong's very serious face, Chi Heng's lips twitched: "Alright, you learn one sentence first. Go straight to the door and say softly, 'My kindest and most virtuous wife, don't upset yourself. Please open the door, I've brought you a gift to apologize.'"

This time, Li Rong's eyes widened, his bronze skin unable to conceal the flush on his face: "You really think so?"

Chi Heng raised an eyebrow: "What? You think your sister-in-law isn't kind?"

Li Rong frowned: "Of course not."

"So you don't think she's a good wife?"

"Of course not, Ah Nuan is the best wife."

"That's it, it's just the truth. What's wrong with saying it? Or do you think your sister-in-law isn't worth your gentle coaxing and pleading? That she can only listen to your cold words?"

“Of course not!” Li Rong took a deep breath: “I’ll go right now.”

Chi Heng immediately noticed Li Rong's tense expression and tightly covered her mouth behind his back, afraid that she would burst out laughing at any moment. However, even while trying to suppress her laughter, she was still bending over backwards and almost passed out.

I've never seen Li Rong like this before in all my life. He's really interesting! He seems to know how to deal with this kid now!

Behind them, Sun Wen and Sun Wu exchanged glances, both seeing confusion and bewilderment in each other's eyes.

"Has the master gone mad?" Sun Wu said in a low voice, "I've never seen anyone be locked out and still laughing so happily."

Sun Yat-sen: "General, you're not so smart anymore, you see."

Sun Wu glanced over instinctively and saw that the Great Jing War God was pacing back and forth in front of the door like an ant on a hot pan.

Then, as if making a decision, he stammered out a sentence with an awkward tone.

"My kind and good wife, don't get upset."

"Pfft, hahahaha!" Upon hearing Li Rong's tone, Chi Heng couldn't hold back any longer and burst into laughter, sitting down on the ground.

Ahead, Li Rong frowned and looked back.

The next second, Chi Heng plunged his head into the snowdrift.

However, even so, muffled laughter still escaped.

Li Rong was furious, thinking that he had been tricked by Chi Heng again. He was grinding his teeth, ready to teach him a lesson, when he heard a creak.

Then, the door opened.

Li Rong was taken aback: "...It really works?"

What came into view was Ping'er's face.

"Father, please come in."

Ping'er gave her father a strange look, then smiled and said to the people behind him, "Uncle Chi, and all you uncles, please come in quickly. Mother said that guests are guests, so there's no need for work. Come in and have some hot soup. Dinner will be served soon."
