Chapter 351 Li Rong, I'm breaking off all ties with you!

Chapter 351 Li Rong, I'm breaking off all ties with you!

The surrounding crowd immediately fell silent.

"We won't go in yet. We just finished our hot tea, so it's perfect for us to do some work. The yard is almost cleaned up, so we'll stay and finish up."

Zhang Xiaohu was the first to break the silence. He felt it was best to stay away from the situation and observe it further.

The people around him responded in unison, clearly sharing the same idea.

Ping'er smiled and replied, "Then uncles and elders, don't tire yourselves out."

Ping'er didn't insist. She turned around and welcomed her father and Chi Heng into the room, then brought them slippers.

"These shoes are warm, Father, and Uncle Chi, please change your shoes first. This is ginger tea, which Mother just brewed. The temperature is just right now. Have some and hurry inside to change your clothes."

Chi Heng stepped into the fluffy slippers, a look of surprise flashing in her eyes. However, she didn't have time to examine them closely yet. She simply lowered her voice and said to Li Rong, "See? I told you that saying nice things works, didn't I? You should learn from that in the future."

Then, she cautiously peeked into the house, squatted down, and asked Ping'er, "Hey, Ping'er, where's your mother? Is she still angry?"

Ping'er glanced at the two of them and said, "I don't know."

Chi Heng choked, then rolled her eyes at Ping'er: "You child, what can't you say to Uncle Chi?"

Ping'er glanced at her very familiar uncle and gave a slight smile: "Uncle Chi wants to know? Why don't you go ask him? Mother is in the kitchen."

Chi Heng swallowed hard: "No, I'm not going. Li Rong, why don't you go and take a look?"

Then, lowering her voice, she said to Li Rong, "It must have been the nice things we said that made Ping'er open the door. Now is the perfect time to strike while the iron is hot. Women are easily coaxed, trust me, you won't go wrong."

Ping'er listened and said calmly, "Uncle Chi, Mother just told me that she would open the door for you in a quarter of an hour. Also, Mother couldn't hear what you and Father were saying at the door while she was cooking in the kitchen."

Ping'er looked at the two of them and added bluntly, "However, I heard that. But, in this freezing weather, it's probably impossible to spend any money. If you're thinking of using money and a mirror to try and fool Mother and cover things up, I'm afraid it won't work."

Ping'er's words left the two men completely stunned.

Li Rong held the hot tea that Ping'er had poured for him, patted his son on the shoulder, and then went straight to the kitchen.

"I'll go help Ah Nuan. Chi Heng, you can do as you please."

Ping'er stared at her father for a long time, then sighed softly. "Father, really," she thought, "why doesn't he even bother to get himself properly cleaned up?"

Ping'er now understands his mother very well. For example, when he is dressed neatly and cleanly, his mother praises him a lot and pinches his cheeks from time to time, showing him great affection. On the other hand, when he is a little sloppy, his mother is somewhat indifferent.

Seeing his father's unkempt appearance now, he sighed inwardly, thinking that his mother probably wouldn't be very enthusiastic anymore.

However, he didn't feel sorry for him. After all, his father had been gone for so long, and when he came back, he didn't even recognize his own mother! So he simply ignored his father and turned to Chi Heng: "Uncle Chi, why don't you all freshen up first? We just boiled some warm water at home."

As Ping'er said this, she walked to the washbasin and called out, "Waiter, hot water."

"Yes!" came the waiter's reply from the kitchen.

Chi Heng looked over, and the next second, she saw hot water flowing out of the bamboo tube on top of the wooden basin in front of her. She was so surprised that her mouth dropped open. She subconsciously reached out to catch the water, but was burned and quickly withdrew her hand. She asked in astonishment, "Hey, what genius came up with this idea?"

Ping'er brought over a clean towel: "Of course it's my mother."

Chi Heng was taken aback. By then, the water had been diluted to a near-dry consistency. He washed his face thoroughly and then, in a daze, said, "How can this house be so warm without a charcoal brazier?"

He had only been inside for a short while when he was enveloped in a wave of heat, clearly unable to bear wearing his fur coat any longer.

In contrast, Ping'er was dressed in only thin clothes, which didn't look like they were for winter. He had rolled up all the sleeves, and he didn't seem to be cold at all. It was quite amazing.

“Uncle Chi, my mother had someone set up a fire dragon in the entire underground area, and it’s been burning continuously, so it’s naturally warmer.”

Chi Heng listened, bewildered: "What is an Earth Fire Dragon? And why does your window look different? How come the room is so bright? Wait a minute, why don't I feel much cold air when I stand by the window?"

"Huh? The ground is different too, it's paved with wooden planks? Why is this house so different in every way?"

Ping'er wasn't surprised at all by Chi Heng's current state, because when they came in a few days ago, they looked even worse than Uncle Chi. However, she couldn't help but twitch the corners of her mouth and say with a smile:

"Uncle Chi, you've asked so many questions at once, which one should Ping'er answer first?"

Seeing that Chi Heng was still looking at the window with curiosity, Ping'er said with a smile, "This window is made of glass, and it was specially made with two layers of windows to keep out the cold."

"Liuli?"

Chi Heng froze, then roared, "Li Rong, you bastard, you lied to me!!!"

"You even said you were so poor you had nothing to eat? Bah! You've even replaced the paper windows with glass ones! I've really misjudged you!"

After saying that, he plopped down on the carpet, pounding his chest and stamping his feet.

That's crystal glass! I've never seen such clear crystal glass in Kyoto. Even the hazy crystal glass in Kyoto is very valuable. Not to mention my own Duke's mansion, even in the Imperial Palace, only one small pavilion uses crystal glass for its windows.

But Li Rong's house, such a big house, was entirely made of glass!

Li Rong has the financial resources! Yet he still swindled me out of several thousand taels of silver! And he even made me support his army! Is this outrageous? Huh?

"Li Rong, we're breaking off our friendship! I'm breaking off our friendship!"

The next second, he kicked out hard, hitting a low table, and immediately broke out in a sweat from the pain.

Ping'er frowned, picked up the extendable coffee table that Chi Heng had kicked over, pushed it a little further away, and asked worriedly, "Uncle Chi, are you alright?"

Chi Heng stared intently at Ping'er's hands: "What did you just do? How did such a big table become so small?"

As he spoke, he gestured exaggeratedly with his hands.

The next second, sensing something was wrong, he glanced at the chair behind him, his brows furrowing again. He stood up and plopped down in the chair, asking with a surprised look, "Why is your chair so comfortable? It's so soft, I just want to lie down when I lean against it."

As he said this, the next second, he collapsed onto the bed.

Ping'er: "."

He really wanted to ask Uncle Chi whether he could still break off his relationship with his father.

I'm so busy today, my darlings! This is just one update for now. I'll make up for it with another update tomorrow night!
