Chapter 406 Wasn't he locked up by me?
Upon returning to his own front door, Li Rong hesitated whether to knock and ask someone to open it. After frowning and thinking for a while, he finally bypassed the front door and jumped over the wall from the back.
He glanced up to the second floor and subconsciously pulled open a corner of the robe wrapped around Jiang Nuanzhi. The person in his arms had clearly fallen asleep. Now, noticing a cold draft blowing in, she seemed a little uncomfortable and shifted slightly.
Li Rong silently wrapped her delicate pink face in his clothes again. Then, he carefully carried her and entered through the main entrance in a proper manner.
He steeled himself and walked into the house, pondering how to explain himself to the people he would encounter later.
Fortunately, only one light was on on the first floor, and no one was there. He breathed a sigh of relief, and then, fearing that Ah Nuan would suffocate, he quickly removed the clothes covering her head.
The person in his arms had their cheek pressed against his chest, finding a comfortable position, and was still fast asleep.
Li Rong's Adam's apple bobbed slightly. He carefully picked the person up again and prepared to go upstairs.
"I'm back."
A voice suddenly broke the silence, and Li Rong's eyes snapped alertly as he scanned the shadows behind him.
But then the old man, with his arms crossed, and Uncle Xin emerged from behind the curtains, looking at him as if he were some rare and precious object.
The old man's gaze swept over the two of them, then he chuckled wickedly, "Old Xin, what do you say?"
Xin Bo frowned deeply, his face full of disapproval, and said, "General, how can you bring other women home? If your wife finds out, she will surely skin you alive!"
Li Rong: "..."
The old man: "."
The old man slapped Xinbo on the head: "Why is your brain working sometimes and not working at all? Isn't this your wife?"
He clicked his tongue and twitched his nose slightly: "You two went out drinking? You must have had quite a bit to drink."
Li Rong: "."
"We have important business to attend to."
Li Rong said this dryly, then picked up Jiang Nuanzhi and tried to go upstairs.
The old man stopped them directly, his sharp eyes fixed on Li Rong's face. He then said with dissatisfaction, "You two, isn't this big enough for you to mess around with? You still have to go outside? You said you had something important to do, but what important thing could make you two like this? You didn't even finish your New Year's Eve dinner. You're really in a hurry."
Li Rong was stunned for a moment, then lowered his voice and said, "I don't understand what you're saying, please make way."
But then, as if by magic, the old man pulled a mirror out of his pocket and waved it in front of him.
The meticulously crafted bronze mirror reflected every detail of the person. Li Rong was momentarily stunned when he saw himself in the mirror.
The person in the mirror had rouge on their lips and their eyes were slightly drunk; even they themselves seemed a bit hazy.
With a deafening roar, Li Rong's face flushed crimson, his ear tips turning a deep red as if they were about to bleed.
Holding Ah Nuan like this, she couldn't even wipe her mouth, especially with the two people opposite her staring at her.
Li Rong coughed lightly, then frowned and said, "Ahem, let's not talk about that. Gentlemen, could you please bring me the two plates of amber walnuts on the table? Ah Nuan specially saved them for me; I'm hungry now."
After a moment of silence, Xinbo said directly, "Amber walnut? I don't know."
Old man: "Two plates? Old Xin, are you going to eat them all by yourself?!"
Sinber: "I didn't see it."
The old man said, "There was only one plate left when I ate it!"
Xinbo: "Nonsense, I don't even know what that is."
Li Rong glanced at the crumbs of walnuts on the old man's lips, leaving the two of them bickering, and secretly carried A Nuan upstairs quickly.
Thank goodness, he hadn't seen many children along the way, and he successfully brought Anuan back to her room.
After carefully placing the person on the bed, Li Rong finally breathed a sigh of relief.
This was actually the first time Li Rong had entered Jiang Nuanzhi's room. The room was filled with a faint scent of medicine and the fresh aroma of flowers and herbs. A refreshing feeling greeted him as soon as he entered. He took a deep breath, then helped her take off her shoes and her outer garment.
They then tucked the person back into the blanket.
Ah Nuan let out a soft moan, then her leg twisted to the side, and she hugged the blanket and continued to sleep.
Li Rong glanced at the rouge that had smudged at the corner of her mouth, his dark eyes deepening. He then brought over warm water and a handkerchief and carefully wiped her face clean. Apart from her slightly swollen, bright red lips, there was nothing unusual.
When Li Rong came to his senses, he had been staring at those lips for quite a while. He was already half-leaning on the bed, his Adam's apple bobbing three times. Then, with a burst of energy, he tried to get up from the bed.
Unexpectedly, Ah Nuan, who was sleeping peacefully, suddenly turned to her side, straddled his arm with her thigh, and even rubbed her face against his arm.
Even through the clothes, he could still feel the softness of her cheeks. Not long ago, Li Rong had pinched that face and kissed it hard, so he knew how smooth that little face was.
Li Rong almost fell off the bed when she pulled him like that. A surge of lust that he had barely managed to suppress rushed up to his lower abdomen again.
He gritted his teeth inwardly, the veins on his forehead throbbing three times. He glanced at the culprit, who was sleeping soundly like a lazy cat, his lips bleeding from being bitten. Only then did he manage to suppress the urge to tear the person apart and devour him. He then resolutely pulled his hand away.
Ah Nuan grumbled slightly behind her, a hint of dissatisfaction in her voice. But she turned around, snuggled closer to the blanket, and went back to sleep.
Li Rong kept his eyes tightly closed, only pulling the blanket over her before rushing out of the room. He saw Chi Heng in the face, snatched the cup from his hand, and gulped down the whole bowl of water in two gulps before heading straight for the bathroom.
"What rushed past?"
Chi Heng yawned as she came out to get a drink of water, and in a daze, she held an empty bowl and said woodenly.
Chen Shu was so sleepy that his eyelids were drooping, and he was being scolded by his master. Was this the kind of life a human being could live?
Upon seeing the person, he said dejectedly, "Master, it's not a thing, it's a general."
He then yawned and asked in bewilderment, "Why didn't the general bring hot water in? Are you going to take a cold shower?"
"What's going on? This is all so mysterious." Chi Heng rolled her eyes, then handed the bowl to Chen Shu: "Pour another bowl."
Chen Shu returned with a bowl of water, only to hear the sound of rushing water coming from the bathroom, as if a bucket was being poured over it. Chen Shu couldn't help but shiver: "Master, shall I bring some hot water to the General?"
Chi Heng waved her hand: "Go."
Then, holding the water bowl, she began to drink. However, after swallowing the water, Chi Heng's rationality gradually returned: "Wait, who did you say that was?"
Chen Shu swallowed hard, then rubbed his eyes: "It's the general, isn't it? You saw him too, didn't you?"
When his master spoke like that, Chen Shu had a moment of daze, wondering if he might have misread it too.
Chi Heng completely ignored Chen Shu, staring intently at the bathroom: "Wasn't he locked in the room by me? How come he's here? If he's here, where's your wife?"
