Chapter 79 We were having a nice chat, why did you hit me?
"Hey, Jiang Pangya, let's go? Young Master is watching us from over there. Hurry up."
Afu took a couple of steps and then noticed that Jiang Nuanzhi hadn't followed, so he urged her on.
Jiang Nuanzhi looked over and saw Xie Liangchen standing far away at the table and chairs in front of the bookstore, their eyes meeting.
He immediately looked away, as if he hadn't seen it, and lowered his head, seemingly lost in thought.
Jiang Nuanzhi rolled her eyes and, unable to bear it any longer, snatched her things back from Afu's arms.
"If you're sick, go get treatment right away!"
After saying that, he threw the things into his basket and left.
"Hey? Jiang Pangya! How dare you swear at me!" Afu immediately stopped her: "Let me tell you, the young master is going through a difficult time right now. If you serve him, your status in his heart will be different in the future. Think it over carefully. If you miss this opportunity, it will be difficult to gain the young master's favor again."
Jiang Nuanzhi: "."
Seeing that she was standing there without moving, Afu thought that his words had worked and said with a hint of smugness, "Let me tell you, Zhao Yuniang comes to help every day. If you are late, you will not get a turn when Zhao Yuniang gets her share."
Jiang Nuanzhi's expression was indescribable: "I'm starting to admire Zhao Yuniang a bit now. She can put up with you two, she deserves to be with your young master. I respect her. I wish them a happy marriage, a long and happy life together, and that they never separate."
As Jiang Nuanzhi spoke, she reached for the horse.
After a moment's thought, Afu immediately blocked her path and said after considering his words, "You don't need to be so discouraged, you still have a chance."
"The young master will certainly not marry a woman like you in the future, but you can be his concubines."
Jiang Nuanzhi: "."
"Does Xie Liangchen know about the way you talk like that in public?"
Upon hearing this, Afu glanced back at his young master with a guilty conscience, then cleared his throat and said, "Anyway, I will help you! We still have some connection. Here's what we'll do: you come back and continue to serve the young master, and I guarantee that he will make you his first concubine."
Jiang Nuanzhi was so angry at this person that she laughed: "Am I a married woman? If you're so capable, how come you managed to get your young master to take me as a concubine?"
Afu scoffed, "So what? The people of this wilderness are fierce and unruly. It's not uncommon for wives to divorce and remarry, or for widows to remarry. Your sickly husband probably doesn't have many days left to live. Don't you really plan for your future?"
Jiang Nuanzhi: "...So I should thank you?"
"What are you thanking me for? From now on, we'll be living under the same roof, supporting each other, and we'll definitely make our lives better and better!" Afu said, her smile revealing a knowing smile: "I saw it all today, you sent your eldest son to work at the docks. You've had your fill of being a good mother, hurry back."
Jiang Nuanzhi frowned upon hearing this: "My eldest son? At the dock? You saw him?"
Afu nodded: "Yes, carrying sacks, I heard you can earn twenty coins a day. You're right, even if you're in a hurry to help the young master with his writing materials, you don't have to send him to do manual labor. He's quite clever, you could send him to work as a waiter in a shop. He'd earn more."
After saying that, he patted Jiang Nuanzhi's shoulder as if to comfort her: "Don't worry, your eldest son is quite sensible, and the young master will probably accept him!"
Jiang Nuanzhi glanced at her shoulder with disgust, then grabbed his hand, twisted it in the opposite direction, and punched Afu in the mouth.
"Ah! Ahh!" Afu screamed repeatedly.
He stumbled back several steps, and after catching his breath, he stared at Jiang Nuanzhi in disbelief: "You crazy woman! We were having a perfectly good conversation, why did you hit me?"
"Having a good chat? I think you've got a screw loose!" Jiang Nuanzhi's fists clenched so tightly they cracked. She squinted and grabbed Afu's collar, warning him coldly, "I'll say it one last time: I have absolutely no interest in your young master. Don't say such disgusting things in front of me again."
And your face disgusts me, as does your foul mouth. You'd better avoid me from now on, or I'll slap you every time I see you.
Having said that, she threw him aside with disgust.
Afu stumbled back several steps, landing hard on his backside. Just as he was about to unleash a torrent of curses, he saw Jiang Nuanzhi staring intently at him, her fists clenched.
He recalled some unpleasant memories, immediately covered his face, and a hint of fear gradually seeped into his eyes.
Jiang Nuanzhi rolled her eyes, then remembered that he had said Ping'er was at the dock. Without lingering, she immediately turned back.
Xie Liangchen deliberately avoided looking in his direction, but out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a figure in a peach-colored dress walking towards him, and his heart couldn't help but jump.
Then she remembered some of Ah Fu's previous words and felt that his coldness and hardness were not good.
At least she treated her own injuries and then engaged in such intimate acts.
As if remembering something, a slight blush appeared on his face. He took a deep breath, straightened his back, and turned to look at Jiang Nuanzhi.
I haven't seen her for many days, and she seems to have lost a lot of weight. Her clothes are also a bit ill-fitting now, but she looks much better now.
He was momentarily stunned, and only after seeing Jiang Nuanzhi approach did he cautiously say, "You..."
Before he could even speak, Jiang Nuanzhi acted as if she hadn't seen him at all, walking straight past him and heading towards the crooked tree behind her.
Jiang Nuanzhi untied the reins from Xiao Li, then mounted her horse and rode away. She didn't glance at Xie Liangchen once throughout the entire journey.
Xie Liangchen stood there in a daze for a long time, his face deathly pale.
"Oh dear, this ugly woman! I don't know what's gotten into her!"
Ah Fu covered his mouth and limped over, rubbing his backside. "Young Master, shall we go back?"
Xie Liangchen still didn't seem to have snapped out of his daze until Afu waved his hand in front of his eyes, at which point he pursed his lips and asked, "What did you say to her?"
"Crazy woman, she said she wasn't interested in the young master, but I think she's just saying that!"
Ah Fu grew angrier the more she thought about it: "She used to risk her life for the young master! Who is she trying to impress with this act? Looking like this, she still acts all coy? Does she really think she's some kind of noble lady who needs the young master to personally invite her?"
Then he covered his mouth and hissed, "Ouch, that really hurts! I don't know where that crazy woman got such strength!"
Xie Liangchen's pale face eased slightly, then he suddenly frowned and asked, "You mean she was willing to risk her life for me?"
"It was the time when the young master fell seriously ill during their exile. She braved the freezing cold to beg for medicine, even pawning her own cotton-padded coat; she almost froze to death that time."
"What do you mean?" Xie Liangchen frowned. "When I fell seriously ill during my exile, wasn't it you and Chuntao who saved me?"
Afu suddenly realized he had let something slip, and in a panic, he knelt down with a thud: "Young Master...I...I..."
Xie Liangchen pressed his thin lips together, his rosy lips lost their color, and his face grew increasingly dark.
