Chapter 11 Family

The Imperial Capital Star has been experiencing heavy rain and wind lately. It seems that the algorithm of the weather instrument has brought together the bad weather of recent years into this period.

Ronnie scolded him for his recklessness, and Xu Shiqing had to take great pains to coax him. The former high priest cut off the communication in a bad mood, and his last words meant that he should stay in the Imperial Capital Star with peace of mind, learn about the power struggles of humans, and then come back with the new officials sent by the empire.

Xu Shiqing nodded in agreement and did not dare to refute.

"It seems that you regard him as your father and as your own family, it's not a rumor." Alger held the gardenia in his arms, and the rich fragrance came to Xu Shiqing as he approached.

The elf angrily pushed the man away, and the flower hit his face: "Why are you becoming more and more casual! I remember that the Duke was not like this when we first met, right?"

After being in the Imperial Capital for less than half a month and interacting with generals and ministers so much, even he learned how to speak ill of them.

Alger laughed, "The Duke fell in love with you at first sight and couldn't wait to marry you! Please accept the flowers from this rude fellow!"

Xu Shiqing was already used to this level of verbal abuse. Alger's mouth was always full of jaw-dropping things, and he knew that his friend didn't have a good reputation outside.

"...Who will be the new leader of Nachu?" Xu Shiqing asked after a moment of hesitation.

Even his teacher had heard about the movements of the Imperial Capital Star. Could the evidence he submitted be so powerful as to make Nachu take action?

"With Doron out of office, Nachu is a hot commodity." Alger said succinctly, revealing the chaotic situation at the meeting. "After all, this is where the Temple of Nature lives and breathes. Everyone wants to have some connection with you."

Xu Shiqing hugged a bunch of gardenias tightly, which meant that he had not yet decided. He couldn't help feeling discouraged. The Imperial Capital Star was good, but there were too many rules. At the beginning, he could rely on the novelty - curiosity about the interstellar space and the empire - to keep himself energetic and deal with it, but after a while, he felt bored.

He wanted to go back to Nachu, gallop on horseback, embrace the mountains and water, and sleep drunkenly in heaven and earth.

Wouldn't that be more interesting than being forced to socialize with strangers here?

Alger: "There's no other place in the entire galaxy with a more complete and precious variety of flowers than here. As for the natural treasures, they're countless and readily available. Don't you like it?"

"I don't like cages." Xu Shiqing said, "The Imperial Capital is nice, but it's a city for you humans, not my home."

"Nachu is indeed very good." Alger said, sitting next to Xu Shiqing. "But I heard that you have been in contact with some interstellar trading companies recently?"

"Yes, Nachu intends to expand foreign trade. This extra portion is being conducted by other races in the name of the temple." This wasn't something that needed to be concealed. Xu Shiqing continued, "As you know, this part was previously controlled by your human merchants... They weren't very sensible."

"Everyone has greed," Alger said casually. He habitually surveyed the elf's outfit, moving his gaze from the exposed wrist to the smooth lines of his face. "No one is giving you any trouble, right?"

"Not really." Xu Shiqing propped up his chin with his hand and said cheerfully, "It was easy to reach a cooperation! I thought we would have to talk for a long time, but they were much easier to talk to than I thought!"

"With the precedent of Duolang as a lesson, no one will dare to cheat you in the short term." The emperor was just furious because Duolang had provoked the relationship between the Natural Clan and the Empire. Alger's knife was still bleeding. No one would be so ignorant as to provoke Nachu.

Alger glanced at the elf calmly and thought with a headache, it's a good thing that His Majesty didn't know that his spiritual sea was controlled by Panic, otherwise he would have plotted against him like he did to me, and sold the elf and then gave him the money.

The only thing to be thankful for is that given their current status, Leonardo will not abandon them.

Firstly, Pani is the high priest of the Temple of Nature after all, and the emperor needs him to stabilize the race that believes in nature. Secondly, Alger Lecter is a sharp and qualified knife, and Leonardo can't find a loyal minister who is more suitable for him and more suitable to attack others.

What's more, his weaknesses are so obvious.

Alger sighed and smiled at the elf who was looking at him: "I remembered an old saying."

There are trees on the mountain and every tree has branches.

But the Imperial City Star was definitely not a place to call home. If Alger were just an ordinary person, and Pani were just an ordinary elf, he wouldn't have hesitated so much. But they weren't.

The elves wanted to return to the embrace of nature. Of course, he could use a cage to confine the bird, but Alger couldn't do that.

"...Alger?" Xu Shiqing looked away awkwardly. He really wanted to ask himself what was so good about his face.

"You look very nice today," the Duke said with a smile, "but why aren't you wearing those little things?"

He was referring to the odds and ends of ornaments that the elf had previously worn on his head.

Xu Shiqing didn't think much about it and replied, "There are too many people here, and it's very noisy. Wearing them won't help me, and it will only annoy me. So I won't wear them."

In fact, although it is an auxiliary accessory, it serves more as a spiritual comfort to the wearer.

The creatures of Nachu are buried in nature, where vastness and loneliness always go hand in hand. Outside the city, there is an eternal silence - a spiritual loneliness that lingers for a long time in Nachu civilization.

So, whether elves or other races, they always rely on something to solidify their "self." For example, Xu Shiqing's vibrant accessories, or the ever-fading magnolias on Ronnie's antlers, all serve to remind them not to stray too close to the gods.

Alger knew this, so he pointed at his neatly braided hair and said, "There's no need to go to extremes. How about leaving nothing behind?"
