Chapter 12 Prelude

Xu Shiqing shifted all his focus towards solving the white fog. This almost evasive behavior did not make Xie Jingyi look strange. His calmness and stability made others sigh in admiration.

"Captain Xu and Captain Xie have their own plans." Chen Siwei said with a smile when he heard a group of young people gossiping over there.

Xu Shiqing couldn't beat Xie Jingyi. Judging from his current attitude, it was only a matter of time before he gave in.

In the corridor, the captains of the other teams bumped into each other and exchanged greetings. Zhao Xuan, wearing a beige dress and a graceful figure, walked over.

"Captain Xu has been coming to your place quite frequently lately." She said this in a light tone.

Chen Siwei took a moment to react before saying, "I have a few talented kids under my command. You know his personality, he's straightforward and doesn't have any ulterior motives."

Zhao Xuan smiled but said nothing.

"..." Chen Siwei paused slightly, and he turned his head and asked, "Didn't he snatch the person you liked?"

This had happened before. If Xu Shiqing hadn't told him directly, his brain wouldn't have thought of anything. Zhao Xuan wasn't the type to argue with others. Usually, when she told him these things, she just wanted to use him to give the person involved a reminder.

If it wasn't the case... Chen Siwei couldn't figure out Zhao Xuan's intention in saying this to him.

They walked to the outer corridor and through the glass wall they could see the hustle and bustle of traffic and fireworks below.

"The higher-ups have started dividing the areas. Shen and you have been transferred to the coastal area, which is much more prosperous than the previous place."

"Prosperity means a lot of people, and more people means more pressure." Chen Siwei waved his hand at a member who greeted him as a response, and said.

"Captain Chen, Director Fang wants you to attend a meeting later!" A figure hurried over from behind. The staff member was stunned when he saw Zhao Xuan. A trace of fear and pity flashed in his eyes, but it quickly disappeared. "Captain Zhao, you are here too."

"That's perfect. You can go to the meeting with Captain Chen then!"

Chen Siwei smiled and nodded, saying that he understood. Zhao Xuan didn't say anything.

"Then I'll go inform the other captains!"

The person left.

Zhao Xuan twirled her fingers through her hair. "Well, it looks like we won't be able to leave work early today."

"Hey, do you think Captain Xie has any objections?"

Chen Siwei finally understood what she said and said with amusement: "Captain Xie is very broad-minded and won't pay attention to such things."

If he really cared, how long would Xie Jingyi care about his comrades Chen Siwei, Shen Wuwei, and Zhao Xuan, with whom he frequently handed over work?

Zhao Xuan laughed. "Our profession is inherently busy, with little time together and much separation. Captain Xu is such a stubborn person..."

Her voice was low, like a gentle breeze: "For people like us, love, hate, anger, and ignorance are always heavier and more strange than those of ordinary people."

"When a stone falls to the ground, it's safe. But this kind of accident that happened to you and me is not universal."

Chen Siwei saw her turn the ring on her right ring finger.

"Since it is luck, it cannot happen to everyone."

"They are still young." Chen Siwei tilted his head and said, "Besides, they are all very good people."

"I agree with you." Zhao Xuan smiled, her expression always difficult to read. "But youth is always impulsive and stubborn, which often makes it easy to make mistakes."

"Besides, it's more frightening when a good person gets angry, isn't it?"

Chen Siwei reached his destination and it was time to say goodbye. He said goodbye to Zhao Xuan and watched her back as she walked around the corner.

“What did you just say to Captain Zhao?” Shen Wuwei happened to be here to return the information and was about to leave when he asked curiously.

"Has Captain Xu come to our team often recently?" Chen Siwei asked instead of answering.

"Yes, just like before, teach some things, see how strong the psychic is, and then go back to do his own thing." Shen Wuwei said: "If you want to say who he is closest to, it should be Huang Shaoxing, the fourth ghost cultivator in our bureau."

"How do you know I want to ask this?" Chen Siwei was surprised.

Shen Wuwei followed him into the archives room, and he grumbled softly as he walked: “You know he likes to teach others, and he usually doesn’t ask at all. Now he is walking with Captain Zhao and asking me about this matter. It can only be this problem.”

"Have you forgotten that I'm also a ghost cultivator?" Shen Wuwei said, "Captain Xie is also quite miserable. He fell in love with such a big piece of wood. It will take time to grind it."

Seeing that he still didn’t quite understand, Shen Wuwei smiled and explained: “We have a good relationship, so we have never had such an experience, it’s normal that you don’t know.”

"What's going on?" Chen Siwei was confused.

"I'm just feeling uneasy and jealous."

"?" Chen Siwei put the information back in its place. His pupils trembled when he heard this: "You mean Captain Xie?"

Xie Jingyi doesn't look like him either?

“Although Captain Xu didn’t resist Captain Xie’s approach, have you ever seen him respond?” Shen Wuwei said in a light tone: “The ghost cultivator’s contract links two souls, but it’s not something that can be formed by just any two people.”

"Over the past few years, Captain Xu has been suffering from insomnia and sleep problems, and Captain Xie sometimes loses control of his emotions. This may be due to the fact that they have many misunderstandings and a poor relationship."

He shook his head as he spoke. "They're actually using a ghost marriage contract. The connection is so deep, yet one party is still unwilling to fully open up to the other... It's a shame Captain Xie has been able to endure this until now."

"The most amazing thing is that Captain Xu didn't notice anything was wrong at all, and he even paid so much attention to another ghost cultivator?" Shen Wuwei complained: "How is this different from a wife ignoring her husband and paying attention to other men? Captain Xu, I really don't know whether to say he is careless or pretending to be ignorant."
