Chapter 18: Atavism (Part 2)

How long does it take to build a nest?

For the mermaids, who controlled the ocean like their own arms, this was no difficult task. Powerful magical energy surged, easily carving the initial form of their pre-conceived nest into the rock face. All this happened in a matter of seconds.

The next step is to clean up the rubble and corners, and set up magic circles as needed. For example, you can pump out the sea water in the cave to create a space where land creatures can survive. For example, you can make the creatures in the space unable to mobilize magic power.

The elf, wrapped in fur, lay dazed and placed inside a giant shell. Alger released Lecter, and the giant gray wolf pressed the shell under its body, blocking out the other's short, trembling whispers.

Alger, he said.

The merman's hallucinogenic toxin took effect, and Alger's eyes were heavy. He did not miss what the elf was calling in the hallucination. At first, it was the names of certain people, and in the end, he stubbornly and unclearly uttered two syllables.

——gu yi

He didn't want to do that. The hallucinogenic toxins carried in the mermaids' bodies were under deliberate control. Although they were harmless to the body, they were still toxins after all. Alger didn't want such things to enter the elves' bodies at all.

But perhaps it was the environment of the sea that infinitely magnified the nature of the mermaid. When he found that the elf in his arms seemed to have realized what he wanted to do, and opened its mouth slightly with an expression that showed a retreat-like emotion, he was disappointed but not surprised.

But this barely maintained composure collapsed when the other party subconsciously opened his mouth and uttered syllables other than his name.

gu yi.

In the darkness, he imitated the elves' mouth shapes and pronunciations. It was definitely not interstellar language, elven language, or anything like that. Alger was familiar with Pani. He knew that Pani was extremely familiar with one of the branches of the ancient Earth language. He had also seen the elves occasionally look at the few Chinese characters written on paper with a nostalgic look.

So he went to learn it and knew how to pronounce the word he had memorized at that quick glance.

One of them is gu yi.

So, did you mistake me for someone else, or did you subconsciously rely on the person named "Gu Yi" when you were scared? Alger found that he couldn't accept either of them.

When he came to his senses, his fangs had already buried themselves in the opponent's neck. The elf fell into a coma under the influence of the hallucinogenic toxin.

It doesn't matter.

He said to himself in his heart that he was actually jealous to the point of going crazy. The mermaid's possessive instinct made him anxiously swing his strong fish tail, creating whirlpools after realizing that the treasure in his arms might not belong to him.

No, no, I won't allow it. He hugged the elf tighter and said fiercely, "This is mine, no one can take it away."

"Ouch." Lecter flicked his tail, pulling Alger back from his memories.

The mermaid stood for a while, listening to the elf in the shell's steady breathing, then turned and walked out.

He wanted to build a nest warm and beautiful enough to lock up the treasure that wanted to escape. That might be very difficult, but it didn't matter. His human memories told him that Alger Lecter was a despicable enough guy, and unfortunately, the elves were too soft-hearted.

Before the other party completely belonged to him, Alger didn't mind using some means to make the guy who wanted to steal his treasure disappear completely from this world.

At first, he felt the soft light, then the touch of fur and skin, and finally a dizzy brain and a weak body.

“……?”

Xu Shiqing forced himself to open his eyes, staring blankly at the huge, luminous pearls neatly inlaid above his head.

After a while, his mind became clearer and he struggled to get up to see what was going on, but he didn't have enough strength and fell heavily back into the soft fur.

"?"

Xu Shiqing woke up from the fall.

He was silent for a second, calmed down and tried to mobilize the magic power in his body - without moving.

"Penny?"

The gauze curtain opened and fell.

Xu Shiqing felt someone falling beside him, and then he saw a familiar face appear above him.

"You finally woke up." He smiled. Xu Shiqing saw his face clearly reflected in the mermaid's dark pupils... The distance was too close and too dangerous.

Xu Shiqing took a deep breath under such a gaze and suppressed the desire to kick him - this was completely an instinctive reaction to sensing danger.

"We need to talk," said the elf. In the past few years, this has been their usual way of solving problems and conflicts. Under normal circumstances, this method is effective.

But mermaids in estrus will not reason with their prey.

Xu Shiqing's assessment of Alger's situation was wrong, but he hadn't yet realized it. "How long has it been? I've contacted Adjutant Savin—"

Before he could even finish his question, the merman already didn't want to hear him mention irrelevant things or people. Alger took advantage of the elf's moment of shock and easily pried open its teeth, engaging in a verbal battle.

The other party reacted and reflexively raised his hands to block his chest, trying to push him away. That action further stimulated Alger. He gently bit the elf's soft lips as a small punishment, then pulled off the belt around his waist and tied his hands above his head.

At this moment, Xu Shiqing's face flushed brightly due to lack of oxygen and embarrassment. Alger's breath hit the side of his face clearly, and his lips and tongue were plundering - in an orderly and unhurried manner, not giving the elf any time to breathe and adapt.

Finally, just before Xu Shiqing was about to suffocate and pass out, the mermaid mercifully released her prey, a shimmering thread of love stretched between them. The elf's chest heaved violently, he gasped for air, and even retched awkwardly from the excessive invasion of his throat.

"I want to kiss you." The merman's hand slid across the elf's misty eyes, flushed cheeks, and swollen lips. Then, it moved down, touching her Adam's apple, chest, and lower abdomen one by one with a slightly cold touch. His voice was calm, as if he didn't notice Xu Shiqing shuddering. "Here, all of them, I want them to be stained with my scent."

That's too much.

Xu Shiqing had no idea how to react. His mind was blank and this was the only thought that came to his mind instinctively.

"Excessive?" Alger repeated with amusement.

Xu Shiqing found that he had actually spoken out what was in his mind.

"I haven't done anything truly excessive yet." The mermaid stretched out her fingers to hook her finger around his collar and pulled it outwards, her tone remaining calm. "Fantasy species are all gender-fluid. Although we are different races, if you allow me to possess you from the inside out, then..."

He reached out and pressed the elf's belly thoughtfully, and asked in a somewhat malicious tone: "Will you give birth to a child for me?"
