Chapter 4 Ascension

But Xie Chongyue was stunned for a moment and then understood.

This suggests that extraterritorial erosion, Xu Shiqing, and other time travelers might be related to the National Destiny Game. Xie Chongyue had never considered this, but it must be said that this was a very bold idea.

Thinking this way, doesn’t it become clear who Xu Shiqing said “you” before the live broadcast?

Xie Chongyue thought about it and said that he would go and verify it with Xu Shiqing, after all it was just a matter of verbal discussion.

However, the lack of response from the National Destiny Game made him feel uneasy and a little worried.

After all, if their guess was correct, would the game allow them to successfully unite with Xu Shiqing? Or was their union within the game's expectations? Ultimately, he still felt uncertain.

However, Xie Chongyue has done many uncertain things in this game of national destiny, and gambling with his life is commonplace, so apart from acting more cautiously, he has not found an excuse not to do so.

The library was no different from the first time he came in. Xie Chongyue buried himself in studying for four or five days. Apart from the crane children who came from far away to bring him food, only the chosen ones from other countries would come to see him.

Most of these Chosen Ones came to exchange their experiences in Zuixianwu. When it came to information transmission, if the situation allowed, the Chosen Ones would usually communicate face-to-face. After all, indirect channels like bullet comments were influenced by different nationalities, cultures, and languages, and even the most skilled translators would inevitably experience some deviations.

Ivanov, the chosen one of the northern great country, was in a very calm state of mind. It was said that he had been running around in the deserted forest for several hours. If he had not been luckily met and rescued by Xu Shiqing, he would have been in the stomach of some bird or beast and become part of nature's nutrients.

He was very interested in Xu Shiqing's experiences, or more precisely, the history of Fuguang State. Ivanov explained that he felt that Sergei and Xu Shiqing were searching for something during this period of history, and if he could understand their thoughts, he might be able to find the answers to all their puzzles.

Of course, this was just his own idea. Most of the Chosen Ones tried to find allies to kill Xu Shiqing directly. Some tried to form an alliance with Xu Shiqing, saying that if he didn't achieve enlightenment and ascend, their mission would be completed, thus achieving the best of both worlds.

Unfortunately, these plans almost all failed, because no one had seen Xu Shiqing since he left the martial arts arena that day, and the cameras of the National Destiny Game could not find any trace of him in Zuixianwu.

Xie Chongyue now had to worry about the other party's whereabouts.

Ivanov said to him in English: "You are the only Chinese here, and you are arranged to live next door to him. I think you can try to do something extraordinary."

His idea was rather risky, and some people in the comments said it wasn't worth it, but those words were useless, as the decision ultimately came from the chosen one.

Xie Chongyue thought the method was feasible, so he immediately returned to his room and climbed over the wall of Xu Shiqing's room. This behavior was rather rogue, but the Chosen One had done such unethical things many times for his mission.

It's just embarrassing to be caught by the person involved.

Xu Shiqing was holding a jug of wine and a few crabapple branches in one hand. The flowers were rich white and pink, matched with the black crane pattern, which made his skin look as white as jade and his eyebrows and eyes were elegant.

"...Come down." Xu Shiqing looked shocked, but he suppressed this emotion in just a moment, as if the brief disturbance at that moment was just an illusion of the viewer.

Xie Chongyue touched his nose, climbed over the wall awkwardly, and landed on the soft grass.

"I was joking at first, wondering if you'd break into my house." Xu Shiqing laughed and shook his head. "Now it seems no wonder you've been able to hold on until now as China's Chosen One."

Be calm, rational, and have a bottom line, but when necessary, be able to put these aside and do what should be done.

This sounded like a compliment to him. Xie Chongyue thought, and after seeing the young man walk towards the house after he finished speaking, he hesitated for a moment, but still followed him.

The yard wasn't big, and after a while, they were inside the house. Xu Shiqing placed the crabapple and wine on the table. His house had a clear simplicity that made it clear at a glance that the objects were placed there for use, a style steeped in pragmatism.

"What do you want to ask?" Xu Shiqing lifted up her skirt, sat down cross-legged, and spread her long hair on the mat.

Xie Chongyue didn't hesitate and asked directly, "Is all this related to extraterritorial erosion?"

Xu Shiqing smiled, which seemed to match his outfit today very well. He was very restrained: "You can say that."

"To be precise, it is precisely because of this that your mission is to prevent me from achieving enlightenment and ascending."

This sentence perfectly illustrates the hostile relationship between him and the national destiny game.

For a moment, Xie Chongyue felt that there was a possibility that they might join forces.

But it was only a moment before he denied this possibility. After all, with Xu Shiqing's means, if he had the possibility of joining forces, he would have colluded with them long ago instead of beating around the bush here.

He was stunned for a moment. Their strength was so different that even if Xu Shiqing had no intention of joining forces, he didn't need to beat around the bush with them. Unless they believed their knowledge of the truth was related to his ascension.

Xie Chongyue had a creepy feeling. If that was the case, then from the moment they came into this world, it was the result of the game between the country's destiny and Xu Shiqing.

This leads us to wonder, how many years have Xu Shiqing and the National Destiny Game been battling each other? Assuming Xu Shiqing's successful ascension to the Dao is detrimental to the National Destiny Game, can we speculate that the other party's three previous failures to achieve enlightenment and ascend were partly due to the National Destiny Game's handiwork?

What about the time travelers? Were they also thrown into this world for this very reason? So did the National Destiny Game really begin three years ago? Or has it been lurking on Earth even longer?
