Chapter 8: Seeing Old Friends Again/Reunion

When Xie Chongyue joined the Special Investigation Bureau, it was two months after the special investigation team found him.

In the past two months, he took his new partner, the former captain, with him, and accompanied him in accepting the fanatical research of the official scientific researchers of the Xia country, while also handling various matters at work and at home.

Xie Chongyue's elder brother Xie Chengyu was far away in the southwest. When he heard that Xu Shiqing, a strange living being, was following his younger brother, he ran to his own airport overnight and took a private plane directly to Shengjing.

It seems that he doesn't even want to waste time waiting.

"Who can resist the opportunity to touch the truth?" Xie Chengyu's eyes lit up and his face was full of excitement.

Taking into account the presence of a protective guy like Xie Chongyue nearby, the higher-ups carefully restrained a group of fanatical scientists. These guys, who only had the truth in their eyes, would not consider the feelings of the parties involved or the people involved. If they were not careful, the scene would only end in tragedy.

The Xia people are very polite. No matter what, when you first meet someone, you should leave a good impression on them. The right way is to take it step by step.

But this theory obviously does not apply to Xie Chengyu.

This famous scientific genius in the Special Investigation Bureau has unquestionable research talent, but his personality is naturally a mess.

To Xie Chongyue, he was a complete disaster.

"Xie Chengyu, do you have to ask him in front of him if he remembers what happened in the past?" Xie Chongyue slammed the table in unbearable pain.

The person involved said confidently, "Since I'm not allowed to conduct experiments, I must at least ask questions to understand what kind of existence the Weird One is. Moreover, he is currently a rare Weird One in Xia Country who is willing to communicate with humans. The reason for this is also worth discussing."

"You are so awesome!" Xu Shiqing said sincerely. It was a kind of courage to be so frank (and annoying) in front of a being that was far more powerful than himself.

"So, why do you keep holding the lamp?" Xie Chengyu pointed at the coal lamp in his hand rather rudely. Xu Shiqing was still wearing the same long gown and jacket, and no one dared to ask him to change his clothes.

"Ah, this." Xu Shiqing said, "Because there is something wrong with my eyes."

He didn't seem to want to talk much.

Without waiting for Xie Chengyu to continue asking questions, Xie Chongyue couldn't stand it anymore and picked up a broom to chase him away.

The Xie brothers have never been polite to each other, so Xie Chengyu adapted well to the fact that a great scientist like himself was kicked out in public.

After brushing off the dust on his trousers, he stood up as if nothing had happened, under the guard's hesitant gaze, and went downstairs in his sneakers.

This building is full of people engaged in scientific research, so the security level is quite high. Xie Chengyu was still led out by someone.

It was not until he got in the car that he had time to take out his cell phone and make a call.

The other end said something, and Xie Chengyu said, "That kid is really lucky... What do you mean? I mean, in a few years, you can just wait for him to bring the girl home."

"It's a new direction. Our understanding of the weird needs to be updated. It's not the same as what humans think." Xie Chengyu took out the notebook from the inner pocket of his suit, bit the pen in his mouth, turned to a new page, and then took out the pen and quickly wrote a series of weird characters.

His handwriting was so ugly that even if someone stole it, they wouldn't be able to decipher it. It seemed that the recording process was just a formality for him, rather than him really wanting to remember anything.

"What? Oh..." He tilted his head and clamped the phone: "People."

Xie Chengyu was silent for a moment, then said, "He's a good comrade."

There was a long silence on the other end, and then he hung up decisively.

Xie Chengyu straightened his sitting posture and his phone fell directly onto the seat, but he didn't care.

"...What a pity." He glanced at the building, as if he could see that stupid brother and that person as conjoined twins. It's true that fools have good fortune.

At last, he smacked his lips, lowered his head and continued with his thoughts, muttering, "I've never heard that having bad ears can be hereditary."

It would be fine if the Xie family only had an older one who was in love, but why is there another younger one?

The appearance of Xu Shiqing provides a huge amount of evidence for human beings' cognition of strange domains and weirdness.

That was a whole new leap.

The name of any new thing initially has a descriptive meaning. For the Xia Nation's officials, especially the Special Investigation Bureau, they naturally had to consider all aspects of this unknown enemy, such as quickly giving the newcomers a first impression of the enemy.

The word "weird" fully reveals the extent of human's understanding of it and its foresight.

At the beginning, humans believed that weirdness was a kind of existence similar to ghosts. Even until now, the Special Investigation Bureau's understanding of it relies largely on popularizing the similarities between ghosts and weirdness. For the Xia people, and even other countries, this is a shortcut to quick understanding.

When it comes to the origin of the weird, people refer to the part of culture that is related to ghosts. There was a time when the weird was even equated with ghosts. At that time, people believed that if two things looked the same and acted the same, then they were the same thing.

However, as the strangeness encountered increased, especially after the concept of the strange domain was proposed, the equal sign was crossed out and the relationship between the two became a collective relationship.

But humans have a consensus on the birth of the weird.

That is, after a person dies, under the influence of strong negative emotions such as obsession and resentment, there is a certain probability that he or she will become strange.

One of the main reasons people come to this conclusion is that the manifestation of human pollution in the strange domain is mostly a surge in negative emotions. In other words, in the strange domain, there are dark circles everywhere, and even if you are not a dark circle, you will eventually become depressed in the pollution.
