Another old acquaintance
Jian Tanxi walked to a corner and, using the curtains and bookshelves as cover, took out the Interstellar Triangular Pyramid from her personal space.
This triangular pyramid is light gold in color and not very large. It has a handle at the bottom, which is just right for holding.
Jian Tanxi grasped the handle and gently waved it a few times.
She wanted to test the power of the triangular pyramid, but she was afraid there were other people in the library, and she didn't know whether they were friends or foes.
So she quietly went out and went to a hardware store.
This hardware store is small; you can see the whole thing at a glance. The shelves are crowded and packed with items, leaving no room for anyone to hide.
Because many of the items in a hardware store are quite sharp, it's impossible for a person to hide inside.
After confirming that no one was in the store, Jian Tanxi picked up a saw, placed it on the ground, and then picked up the interstellar triangular pyramid and slammed it down hard.
She didn't use much force, but the saw broke instantly.
Jian Tanxi found another electric drill, and with a triangular awl, the drill bit broke in two.
It seems there's no need to try anymore; this triangular pyramid is indeed a very useful weapon.
She put the triangular pyramid back into her personal space and then went into the cake shop next door.
The handmade cakes in the cake shop had all gone bad, but there were some boxed snacks inside that had a longer shelf life and were still edible.
Jian Tanxi opened a box of cookies, ate two, and felt very full. It had only been a few days since she last ate a meal.
She packed a few jars of cookies in her bag and then went back into the library.
She planned to explore the entire library to make sure no one was inside, then find a safe place to hide and temporarily use as her base.
If there are people inside, she needs to determine whether they are friend or foe. If they are good people, then it doesn't matter; they can hide together.
Jian Tanxi walked softly and slowly inside.
After walking for a while, she didn't see anyone.
Suddenly, she felt a whooshing sound behind her head and instinctively dodged to the side.
A stone grazed her head and flew ahead, landing on the ground.
Luckily she dodged quickly; otherwise, getting hit by the rock would have been no fun.
She turned around and saw a thin girl wearing glasses who looked somewhat familiar.
The other person was also a little scared, but after seeing Jian Tanxi's face clearly, she asked with surprise, "Hello, didn't we participate in the game together? That game where you had to survive for ten days on just a steamed bun and a cup of water, it was called 'Don't Starve'..."
Jian Tanxi remembered too, and asked excitedly, "Are you Li Chuxia?"
Li Chuxia nodded: "Yes, it's me! What's your name, sister? I can't remember right now..."
Jian Tanxi: "My name is Jian Tanxi."
"Oh right, that's the name. I only remember that your name is a bit complicated."
Li Chuxia was one of the teammates Jian Tanxi encountered in the first round of the game. Jian Tanxi remembered that she was a high school sophomore girl. Although she was thin and frail, she was very smart.
Moreover, she was the one who recognized Professor Pan Xian at first glance.
The two were overjoyed to be reunited here.
Jian Tanxi asked, "How did you end up here?"
Li Chuxia: "I participated in a game a couple of days ago, and after I came out, I was teleported to the street. I wandered around aimlessly and found this bookstore, so I went in. This bookstore has a wide selection of books. I found my high school textbooks and I'm doing some practice questions now."
Jian Tanxi asked in surprise, "Huh? You're still doing homework right now?"
"Yeah, I have nothing to do anyway. I'm waiting for everything to return to normal so I can take the college entrance exam."
"Haha, you're still thinking about the college entrance exam?"
"Yeah, I've studied so hard for so many years, all for the college entrance exam, right? The aliens are so mean, why didn't they wait until I finished the exam before causing trouble?"
"Pfft. I think we should exercise and practice some fighting skills now, so that it will help us beat various games."
Li Chuxia said, "I don't think this can be learned in a day or two. The aliens have already enhanced our bodies, and our physical fitness is much better than before. I think it's enough."
"Our bodies have been enhanced, and so have the other survivors. In case we encounter any unscrupulous survivors, we need to be able to protect ourselves."
“Okay. But if we start practicing now, we won’t improve in a short time. We’re both girls, so our physical fitness is naturally weaker, and we’ve never learned Taekwondo or anything like that before, so we have no foundation.”
"It's better to practice than not to practice. There are so many books here, there should be some that teach fighting techniques. Let's look for them and practice what we find."
Seeing Jian Tanxi's enthusiasm and initiative, Li Chuxia was no longer afraid of difficulties and started looking for fighting books with Jian Tanxi.
Soon, they found two books on martial arts and began practicing.
If you get tired from practicing, take a break.
After dark, Jian Tanxi could only sit there blankly. Fortunately, she wasn't alone anymore; Li Chuxia was there to keep her company.
At that moment, a bright light appeared before Jian Tanxi's eyes.
She noticed that Li Chuxia had turned on a desk lamp.
Jian Tanxi asked in surprise, "Where did this lamp come from?"
Li Chuxia said, "This library also sells desk lamps, and they use batteries. There are batteries at the cashier, so I took a desk lamp, put in the batteries, and will use it when it gets dark."
"Great, I didn't expect there would still be lights now."
"Well, thankfully we found a desk lamp, otherwise we would have had to spend the night in the dark."
"By the way, are all the curtains drawn?"
Li Chuxia said, "Don't worry, I've covered it up, so you can't tell from the outside. The past two nights, I've been using a desk lamp for light to read, and I'll go to sleep when I get tired."
"That's not bad either, at least we still have books to keep us company. By the way, no matter where we are teleported in the future, we should find the nearest post office, library, police station, bank, school, or convenience store, and just settle down anywhere. When we participate in the game, we should also tell our reliable teammates about this. As long as we spread the word widely enough, it will be easier to find other survivors in the future."
Li Chuxia nodded: "Hmm, that's a good idea. Anyway, I love libraries the most. If there's no library, I'll go somewhere else."
They both picked up a book they liked and started reading.
The desk lamp is new and the light is bright enough for them.
After they got tired of watching, they chatted for a while and then fell asleep on the ground.
It's hot now, but not too cold at night, so it's fine without a blanket.
The next day, when Jian Tanxi woke up, she found Li Chuxia sitting there in a daze.
Jian Tanxi asked, "Why aren't you reading or doing practice problems anymore?"
Li Chuxia said, "Sister Tanxi, what would happen if we participated in the game endlessly, for a lifetime?"
"Well... I don't think so. It will eventually come to an end."
"But you can't be sure, can you?"
Jian Tanxi said, "We haven't participated in enough games yet, so we don't understand those aliens or what they want to do. When we participate in more games and become stronger, maybe we'll find a way to fight them."
"However, our superpowers, gadgets, and physical enhancements are all thanks to them. In other words, their civilization is far more powerful than ours. Fighting against them is like an ant trying to shake a tree."
"Perhaps we don't necessarily have to fight. There might be a way to resolve the conflict peacefully. I think those aliens don't seem to be aiming to destroy humanity."
Li Chuxia said, "Yes, I feel it... The condition for passing each game is that everyone must survive. If anyone dies, the game cannot be completed. This is very different from the aliens I imagined. Actually, I have an idea."
Jian Tanxi asked, "What are your thoughts?"
"Don't we watch TV all the time? I'm wondering if aliens also like watching TV? But their TV isn't made by actors; instead, it's a game where people from other planets participate, and the game footage is broadcast live to their planet. If that's the case, it's pointless for us to participate in these games; it won't save us, it'll just provide the aliens with TV programs."
Jian Tanxi was somewhat surprised: "Your point of view is quite novel, and it makes some sense. However, no matter what those aliens' purpose is, the most important thing is that we survive. As long as we're alive, we can always rebuild. We're all still young, and young people are the hope of all mankind."
Li Chuxia nodded: "Yes, you're right."
Jian Tanxi said, "I think we shouldn't let ourselves be idle. When we're idle, we start thinking about these meaningless questions. Why don't we make a schedule and follow it no matter where we are in the future? Keep ourselves busy."
"Alright."
So they created a simple schedule, including what time to run, what time to practice combat, what time to rest, what time to take a walk, and so on.
It's still early, so they went outside for a run.
Li Chuxia's clothes weren't suitable for running, so they went to a clothing store and picked out a suitable outfit.
Jian Tanxi also picked out a sweatband and tied it to her head to absorb sweat.
They left their names and contact information as usual, stating what they had taken and that they would return the money if given the opportunity.
They ran outside and found a small hill not far behind them.
So they climbed up to get some fresh air.
Li Chuxia said, "Sister Tanxi, don't you think that the natural environment has suddenly improved a lot since humans disappeared from Earth?"
Jian Tanxi nodded: "Yes, humans have damaged the natural environment too much. There is one advantage to this situation: the Earth can recover its vitality."
"Hahaha."
They lived a regular life for a few days and gradually adapted to the environment.
One downside of random teleportation is that they have to start adapting all over again each time they are teleported to a new place.
Fortunately, they were young and adaptable, so they didn't feel anything was wrong.
Li Chuxia said, "Sister Tanxi, I plan to settle down near the library in the future."
Jian Tanxi asked, "This library?"
"It doesn't have to be here; it could be next to any library, but the library must be big. That way, I can read books very conveniently."
"Yes, your wish will definitely come true."
"But the prerequisite is that Earthlings have to come back. Otherwise, who will maintain this environment?"
"yes."
A few days later, Jian Tanxi and Li Chuxia went hiking again.
Just as they reached the top of the mountain, they heard a "bang," as if something had hit a tree.
Li Chuxia grabbed Jian Tanxi somewhat fearfully and whispered, "Sister Tanxi, could it be a wild animal?"
