Searching for fake people (1)

Searching for fake people (1)

The days passed peacefully for a few days.

A few days later, Jian Tanxi and the others were teleported into a new instance.

This looks like an ordinary village, with a relatively dense population and well-built houses, so it should be a fairly wealthy place.

Besides Jian Tanxi and others, there were two strangers at the scene, a man and a woman, both middle-aged.

The man was pot-bellied, wore glasses, and had a smile on his face, but he exuded an air of authority.

The woman had a sharp appearance, with high cheekbones, thin cheeks, and a slender figure; she also had a rather imposing presence.

Jian Tanxi felt that the two of them must have held certain positions in the past, perhaps even being leaders.

After a brief introduction, everyone learned that the middle-aged man was named Yang Fulai and the middle-aged woman was named Hao Yu.

Yang Fulai said, "You can call me General Manager Yang."

Hao Yu said, "You can call me Director Hao."

The others were somewhat surprised, but not wanting to offend the newly acquainted players, they addressed them as requested.

Jian Tanxi felt that her guess was correct. The two people had similar personalities; they were both the kind of people who were very controlling and valued their status.

Hopefully, no conflicts will arise in the upcoming cooperation.

Hao Yu sized up Jian Tanxi for a few moments and asked, "A college student?"

Jian Tanxi nodded and said, "Yes, I'm a junior now."

Hao Yu nodded and didn't speak to her again.

Then, Hao Yu looked at Qin Man and asked, "Housewife?"

Qin Man smiled sheepishly: "I'm not exactly a housewife, but I have a part-time job as a Chinese language teacher."

Hao Yu's questioning style, devoid of personal pronouns and subjects, was very uncomfortable, as if she were interrogating a criminal. She didn't continue speaking to Qin Man, as if she felt Qin Man was unworthy.

However, Hao Yu felt a sense of respect for Professor Pan and asked, "You look like a professor or scholar."

Professor Pan said, "Yes, I am a biology professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences."

Hao Yu: "My maternal grandfather is also a professor. It's an honor to meet you, Professor Pan."

Professor Pan smiled and said, "You're too kind."

"You can call me Hao Yu."

"OK."

At that moment, a large piece of paper floated down from the sky, depicting a general on horseback.

The general said, "Welcome to the new instance—Finding the False Man. I am the referee for this game, General York. Contestants: Jian Tanxi, Qu Chen, Qin Man, Pan Xian, Hao Yu, Yang Fulai."

Let me explain the game rules:

For the next ten days, you will be staying in this village. Seven fake people have appeared in the village, but they are unaware of it themselves, and the other villagers have not noticed anything unusual.

You need to identify these seven imposters and explain your identities to me on the tenth day. If you identify even one wrong one, everyone will die.

The condition for passing the level is to find all the fake characters correctly.

Jian Tanxi asked, "What are the characteristics of a fake person?"

“The fake people look similar to normal people, but their behavior is always strange, and you need to judge for yourselves.”

Qin Man asked, "Is the blood from the fake mannequin also red?"

Referee: "Yes, their physical characteristics are no different from those of ordinary people."

Professor Pan asked, "Seven fake people suddenly appeared in the village. Didn't the other villagers know about it?"

Referee: "Those fake people are living here in place of the original villagers. So, there aren't many more people in the village; the number is still the same as before."

Yang Fulai asked, "If I find all the imposters by myself, how will the credit be calculated?"

Referee: "Then you will naturally receive the reward you deserve, don't worry."

Yang Fulai: "If my companions are holding me back, can I shake them off or kill them?"

"Can."

Qin Man shielded Qu Chen behind her and asked Yang Fulai sharply, "Yang Fulai, who do you want to kill?"

Yang Fulai chuckled dryly, "I was just asking a question, I don't necessarily have to kill anyone. Do you think you and your son are useless, so you're on guard against me? Actually, I don't necessarily have to kill anyone. As long as you keep quiet and don't hold me back, that's fine."

Qin Man sneered: "Then you'll have to be able to kill them. Do you really think you can complete the mission all by yourself? If so, why were so many people teleported in?"

Qin Man was originally gentle and kind, but when she saw Yang Fulai's murderous intent, she also revealed a side that was not to be trifled with.

Yang Fulai was somewhat angry that the first person to retort to him was the unassuming Qin Man. In his mind, someone like Qin Man, who had little social standing, especially a woman, had no right to argue with him.

So, after Qin Man retorted a few times, he became extremely angry, feeling that times had truly changed, and that such a rebellious act against the Heavenly Order had actually occurred.

If we were at work before, who would dare to talk to him like that?

Therefore, he was too busy being angry to say anything.

Jian Tanxi said, "Finding the imposter is not as easy as we imagine. A person exhibiting abnormal behavior is not necessarily an imposter; they may have changed their nature or have other motives. It is very difficult to make an accurate judgment. We must pool our wisdom and efforts and not fight amongst ourselves beforehand. If we do not have this awareness, Sister Qin Man, Professor Pan, and I will deal with that person first to prevent them from interfering with the game."

As she spoke, Jian Tanxi stood together with Qin Man, Qu Chen, and Professor Pan.

Yang Fulai and Hao Yu then realized that Jian Tanxi, Qin Man, Professor Pan, and others knew each other and were even part of a team.

If Yang Fulai had known this would happen, he would never have dared to say those words.

Hao Yu said with a smile, "Jian Tanxi, so the three of you, no, the four of you, are a team. Why didn't you say so earlier? When did you meet?"

Jian Tanxi said, "We've known each other for a long time. I'll introduce you to him when I have the chance."

"OK."

There were six players in total, four of whom knew each other. Even someone as arrogant as Hao Yu had to be cautious and spoke much more politely.

At this point, the referee said, "Listening to you Earthlings talk is exhausting. Your residence is the first one on the east side, a three-story gray house. From six in the morning to six in the evening is your time to go out and visit other people's houses. Outside of this time, you must stay in your residence. Have a good game."

As he spoke, the referee disappeared.

Jian Tanxi has a time machine and can know the exact time. She checked the time machine and found that it was 10:00 AM, which was free time.

Villagers came and went, some glancing at them, others not paying any attention.

For a moment, no one knew how to complete the task. They all looked blankly at the surrounding villagers, trying to find the fake person among them.

However, it's not clear at the moment.

Jian Tanxi suggested, "Why don't we go and see our accommodations first and assign rooms?"

Everyone agrees.

So the group headed towards the first house on the east side.

Upon entering the house, everyone found it to be quite luxurious, decorated in a creamy style with soft sofas and cushions, and a large light-colored carpet in the living room.

The curtains have two layers: a blackout curtain and a white sheer curtain. Sunlight filters through the sheer curtain into the room, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

However, no one was in the mood to enjoy it.

If they fail to complete this mission, these will be their last days.

This house has three floors and about ten rooms in total.

Jian Tanxi decided to share a room with Qin Man and her son, while Professor Pan lived next door to them.

Yang Fulai and Hao Yu each had their own room.

Everyone's rooms were next to each other, so they could look out for each other.

After the rooms were assigned, everyone went to the living room to discuss how to play the game.

Professor Pan said, "We currently know of seven imposters, but they themselves are unaware of it, and the villagers are not aware of it either. In other words, we cannot obtain clues by questioning the villagers; we can only observe them ourselves. We have a total of ten days, which is quite a lot of time."

Today our task is to find out how many households and how many people live in this village. Then, we'll assign tasks to each player, with each player responsible for a few households. For the next few days, keep a close eye on your assigned households and see who is acting suspiciously.

During the day, we kept an eye on the villagers outside, and when we came back at night, we reviewed the situation to see who the seemingly fraudulent villagers really were and what our evidence was.

Yang Fulai said, "Okay, but I'm young and strong, so I want to take on more households. You're either old or young, or inexperienced college students, so you'll have to rely on experienced and strong old players like me."

Hao Yu scoffed, "Anyone who's gotten this far isn't a veteran player. I think even that kid Qu Chen might be better than you."

Yang Fulai frowned: "What do you mean? If you say there is someone in this world who is better than me, then I'll accept it; but if you say there is someone here who is better than me, that's impossible."

"Don't be arrogant. Leaving aside others, I'm definitely better than you. Professor Pan, I think I should be allocated a few more households. This isn't a competition of intelligence, but of brainpower. Only truly intelligent people can find the right imposters to help everyone pass the test. What do you think?"

Yang Fulai was very angry, but before he could refute, Professor Pan said, "I think we don't need to argue anymore. No one who has come this far is weak or stupid. I think that in terms of intelligence, we are all about the same."

Qu Chen's situation is special; he will definitely need to stay with his mother. Therefore, only a few of us adults will participate in the household registration allocation. We'll divide it equally among everyone; that way, it's fair and just, and no one will object.

Seeing Professor Pan say this, Hao Yu and Yang Fulai no longer objected.

So, everyone went out to collect household registrations.

Jian Tanxi went directly to ask the village chief, while the others counted from house to house. Using two methods in parallel reduced the chance of errors.

At 1 p.m., the players gathered at their accommodation.

The census results are in; the village has 150 households and a population of over 500.

So, each of the five players gets 30 households, which averages out to more than 100 people.

It would be quite difficult to observe more than 100 people within ten days and identify the imposters among them.

Without delay, everyone divided up the areas and immediately began visiting.

When Jian Tanxi arrived at the first house, she said that she was from out of town and wanted to visit them.

The family was quite welcoming to Jian Tanxi, preparing snacks and tea for her, and even giving her the TV remote so she could choose what she wanted to watch.

Jian Tanxi thanked them repeatedly and said that she was fine on her own and did not need to be entertained too much, and that they should all go about their own business.

Upon hearing this, the adults in the family didn't stand on ceremony and told Jian Tanxi to make herself at home and to call them if she needed anything.

With that, they went upstairs, leaving the two children to play on the first floor.

Jian Tanxi couldn't go upstairs with the adults, so she could only observe the two children from the first floor.

The two children were playing with their toys and seemed to be having a good time, so there was no need to interfere.

Jian Tanxi took a nap, and when she woke up, she found that the two children were missing.
