The Dragon's Treasure (2)
That solves the problem. Jian Tanxi was in charge of recording, while the others were responsible for searching for the treasures and reporting their names.
All I could hear was other people talking incessantly:
"Gold, silver locks, sapphires, emeralds..."
"Pearl necklace, white jade bracelet, green jade pendant, yellow jade ornament..."
"Bronze wine vessel, cat's eye tourmaline bracelet, amethyst pendant, white rutilated quartz necklace..."
"Aquamarine crown, ruby ring, sandalwood comb, gold-threaded woven bag..."
Jian Tanxi spent a full hour taking notes, until she felt dizzy and her eyes were blurry.
However, other players have only seen a small portion of the treasures.
It would take at least several days to read through everything and write it down.
Moreover, some of the items were unfamiliar to Zhuge Jing; they must be treasures from other planets.
In that case, it would be impossible to count all the treasures.
Zhu Xiaofeng said, "I have an idea. The treasure the dragon wants should be extremely valuable, so we don't need to count everything in this cave. I have a special ability to detect the most valuable item among a pile of treasures. We just need to find the most valuable treasure in the cave and then search for it."
Professor Pan said, "That's possible, but what if we go through all sorts of hardships to find another treasure, only to discover that it was something that was already in the cave, but we just overlooked it?"
Jian Tanxi said, "I have a special ability: I can remember everything I see in half an hour. Later, please show me everything here so I can memorize it. That way, when I find treasure outside, I can determine whether it's something from the cave."
Displaying all the treasures within half an hour is a bit difficult, but it's worth a try.
Zhu Xiaofeng first activated his "Insightful Eyes" ability, scanning all the treasures in the cave.
Then, he picked out a bracelet from among them.
This bracelet is blue, and each bead is like a miniature universe, faintly revealing the sun, moon, stars, mountains, and rivers. At the joint of the bracelet is an ornament that resembles silver, but it is not silver; rather, it is made of a material that no one has ever seen before, seemingly capable of drawing one's gaze.
This bracelet may seem unremarkable at first glance, but once you look closely, you can't take your eyes off it. I guess all expensive things have this quality.
Professor Pan asked, "How much is this bracelet worth?"
Zhu Xiaofeng said, "If we calculate it according to China's currency system, it's worth about 100 million. The treasures we're looking for next have to be based on this standard, otherwise they won't catch the dragon's eye."
Zhuge Jing said, "Actually, I have an idea. Could it be that the dragon doesn't want gold and silver treasures? It has plenty of jewels already; perhaps it wants something else."
Professor Pan: "That's possible, but we don't know exactly which item would suit its taste. Let's look around first, and if we happen to find a special item that the dragon would be interested in, we'll bring it back."
"Um."
Next, Jian Tanxi activated her "super memory" ability.
Then, the other players approached her, each carrying a pile of jewels, so she would remember them.
Each player fills every available space with jewelry, including their neck, hands, waist, and head. Waist chains can be worn, and crowns can be worn on the head.
After Jian Tanxi finished looking at the jewelry someone was wearing, that person would take off all the jewelry and immediately cover their entire body with other jewelry, so as to show Jian Tanxi as much jewelry as possible.
Apart from Qu Chen playing on the side, the other players were all very nervous because they only had half an hour.
Jian Tanxi desperately tried to remember everything she saw, while the other players frantically showed off their skills; no one had a break.
Jian Tanxi felt her head was getting increasingly painful because she had so much to remember.
But in order to pass the test, she endured her headache and even asked Professor Pan for a few sobering pills.
Jian Tanxi herself didn't have any sobering pills, but Professor Pan did, and he gave her three.
Three pills are already the limit; any more than that and your body won't be able to handle it.
The tense and busy half hour finally passed, but the other players had only shown Jian Tanxi less than a quarter of the jewelry.
Because there were so many jewels in the cave, it's unknown how many years it took the dragon to collect them.
Jian Tanxi's "super memory" ability can only be used once per game, and cannot be used a second time.
Zhu Xiaofeng couldn't help but complain, "How can this dragon have so many treasures... It's already like this, yet it's still not satisfied and wants to find other treasures. Why doesn't it just fly to the heavens?"
Zhuge Jing said, "What do we do now? I think we can remember some of the jewels ourselves, but not as many as Jian Tanxi, and it's impossible for us to remember them all. If we look at all the remaining jewels, it will probably take several more days. Should we look at all the jewels, or go out and look for treasures directly?"
Professor Pan said, "It's pointless for us to waste time in the cave. We'd be better off spending more time searching for treasures outside. The rules of the game don't stipulate that we can only bring back a certain number of treasures, so we can bring back as many as possible. Maybe we'll find something the dragon wants."
I have a Pomodoro Technique. We'll stay here for another hour and try to memorize as much jewelry as possible, then Jian Tanxi will take a break. We'll set off in an hour.
Professor Pan's arrangement was quite suitable, so the other players began to look through the remaining jewels, trying to remember as many as possible.
Jian Tanxi's brain can no longer store anything, just like a hard drive with no storage space.
She could only close her eyes and rest.
She was still holding onto Qu Chen with one hand to prevent him from running away.
An hour passed, and the other players also remembered some of the jewelry.
Then, everyone walked outside.
It took another half hour to walk out of the cave from its depths.
Stepping outside, the group discovered they were in one of a range of mountains, shrouded in mist and clouds, their height unknown.
The surrounding mountains rise and fall, and the mountain where the giant dragon is located is right in the middle.
Moreover, this mountain was bare and looked completely empty. The mountains in the distance, on the other hand, were lush and green.
The group was somewhat bewildered, unsure of where to begin or what to look for.
Jian Tanxi said to Qin Man, "Sister Qin Man, let go of Qu Chen and see where he goes and what he does. He seems to have the ability to find key clues; let's see if it can be used this time. Just follow him, and if you find anything valuable, pick it up and store it in your personal space."
Qin Man nodded and released Qu Chen's hand.
Qu Chen immediately started running around, with Qin Man following closely behind.
Jian Tanxi then said to the others, "I have a flying magic carpet. I'll fly up to a high place first and see if there's anything special. You can just wander around this mountain as you like, as long as you're not going in the same direction as Qin Man and her son. If I see a place with treasure in the air and need your help, I'll come down and let you know."
Zhu Xiaofeng, a high school student, said, "I also have the ability to fly, so I can explore with you."
Jian Tanxi said happily, "That would be perfect. I'll take care of the east and south, and you can take care of the west and north."
Zhu Xiaofeng nodded.
Professor Pan and Zhuge Jing were left, and they wandered around the mountain, trying their luck.
Jian Tanxi boarded the magic carpet and flew eastward.
Zhu Xiaofeng took two wings out of his bag and stuck them to his body. The two wings were very small, like those of a sparrow.
Zhu Xiaofeng said, "Activate your superpower—wingsuit flight."
Then, his two small wings flapped, carrying him high into the sky, where he flew fast and steadily.
Jian Tanxi flew slowly in the sky, observing below to see if there was anything unusual.
After a while, she noticed a group of deer wandering around the edge of the cliff, numbering about sixty or seventy.
Jian Tanxi went down and activated her ability to communicate with animals, asking one of the deer, "What are you doing on the edge of the cliff?"
The deer replied, “We want to go to the other side of the cliff. There are too many predators on this mountain, and our survival is constantly threatened.”
Jian Tanxi looked across and estimated that the two mountains were more than 50 meters apart, which the deer could not possibly jump over.
However, there is a stream flowing below these two cliffs.
Jian Tanxi felt that she could activate the "things will work themselves out" ability. This ability could be used anywhere there was a river.
Jian Tanxi said to the deer, "I can build a bridge for you, but you must help me find a precious treasure."
The deer called out twice, "Oh dear," and said cheerfully, "Alright, what do you want? I've been on this mountain since I was born. Tell me what you want, and maybe I can find it for you. If I can't find it, my companions might. But if it's on another mountain, we don't know."
Jian Tanxi said, "Anything is fine, as long as you think it's precious."
“Okay, then I’ll take you to find the treasure first, and then you can help us cross the bridge.”
Seeing the deer's sincerity, Jian Tanxi was overjoyed. She felt that animals were sometimes much better than people.
Jian Tanxi continued, "My special ability is about to expire, and I won't be able to understand you in a moment. So you don't need to talk to me, just take me to the location of the treasure."
"OK."
The deer first greeted its companions, then turned back to look at Jian Tanxi, gesturing for her to follow it.
Jian Tanxi followed.
After walking for half an hour, the deer led Jian Tanxi to a mountain stream.
There was a spring here. After the deer drank a few sips, it gestured for Jian Tanxi to drink as well.
Jian Tanxi took a sip and was amazed. The water here was incredibly sweet and refreshing; she had never tasted such delicious water before.
Jian Tanxi looked around but didn't see any treasures.
She asked, "Little Deer, did you bring me here to find treasure? Where is the treasure?"
The deer looked back at her, then at the spring, and did this several times.
Jian Tanxi then realized: "You mean, the spring water here is a treasure?"
The deer nodded.
Jian Tanxi felt that this made sense.
Such delicious water is a treasure even for deer.
So Jian Tanxi filled a container with some spring water, hoping the giant dragon would like to drink it.
Then, the deer tugged at Jian Tanxi's sleeve, signaling her to continue following it.
Jian Tanxi followed.
The deer walked a long way up the mountain and then came to a place overgrown with bushes.
The deer walked into the bushes and brought a leaf to Jian Tanxi.
