Chapter 39 Kissing, I Want to Kiss You
Qiao Xi felt that Morax was somewhat indifferent. Although his attitude had always been so neutral before, things were different now. Their relationship had changed, so why was he still like this? He didn't even glance at her much. Qiao Xi still had so much to tell him.
Could it be that Morax has forgotten about them after being gone for so long?
At night, Qiao Xi lay in bed, finding it hard to fall asleep. The weather was getting warmer, and she had changed to a thinner blanket. She placed her hand on her forehead, her eyes closed and brows furrowed. Suddenly, she opened her eyes, let out a heavy sigh, and wondered, "Or... should I kiss Morax?"
The reason she had this idea was because Jinlan said that a kiss is the most direct way to see the other person's reaction. With that in mind, Qiao Xi began to fantasize about kissing Morax. Thanks to the random stories she had read, she found it hard to imagine.
Qiao Xi turned over in bed, finding it even harder to fall asleep.
At five o'clock the next morning, Qiao Xi did not see Morax. In the past, Morax would always come at this time if he was around. Why didn't he come now? Was he avoiding her?
Coupled with his cold demeanor when he returned yesterday, Qiao Xi wondered if Morax had really forgotten or regretted it.
Qiao Xi slowly got out of bed, picked up a red velvet coat, put it on, slipped on her shoes, and went out the door.
The morning dew was heavy, and the sky was still dark. Although the temperature was better than in the winter night, it was still difficult to see the road. Qiao Xi walked along the road with a bamboo pole in her hand. She was going to the foot of the mountain to see her osmanthus tree.
Walking along the road, if you smell carefully, you can smell the scent of early spring buds. The soil, which has been dormant all winter, awakens. The fresh scent represents the vitality of the future. The geography textbook for the first year of high school says that day and night are of equal length at the spring equinox. When the long night is equal to the day, the days will be longer and the nights shorter for the next three months.
There was still some mist in the mountains, and the Thousand Rock Army camp was beginning to assemble. When Qiao Xi passed by, Jin Lan was leading her team in morning exercises. She did not slow down or disturb Jin Lan.
She walked for an unknown amount of time before arriving at the osmanthus tree at the foot of the mountain.
The trunk is small, but it is budding.
Qiao Xi reached out her hand, wanting to touch it, but stopped just before she touched the bud, afraid of damaging the branches and leaves.
After sitting with the osmanthus tree for a while, she heard footsteps behind her. Qiao Xi turned around and saw Morax.
His elevated position added to his already imposing presence. He wore a dark brown robe, the hem of which swayed with his steps, yet he remained composed.
Qiao Xi stared at him blankly, wondering why Morax had suddenly appeared here.
Morax walked up to her, lowered his eyes, and asked in a low voice, "Can't you speak anymore?"
This was the first time he had spoken to her since he returned yesterday, and his tone of voice was no different from before.
Qiao Xi shook her head: "Why did you come here?"
"I'm looking for you."
"Looking for me?" The morning dew condensed on Qiao Xi's long, raven-feather-like eyelashes, making each blink feel a little cool.
Morax nodded: "I'm going to the Bamboo Garden; you won't be there."
"Then how did you know I was here?" Qiao Xi asked.
Morax looked down into her eyes and said, "I don't know. I saw that your bamboo pole was gone, so I guessed you came down the mountain."
Qiao Xi blinked and said "Oh".
Morax frowned slightly.
Qiao Xi looked up at him. Morax and she were still getting along the same as before. Unlike the stories she had read or made up, where two people fell deeply in love as soon as they became a couple.
so.....
Qiao Xi mustered her courage: "Morax."
"Hmm?" Morax looked at her expressionlessly.
Qiao Xi hesitated for a moment, then the words that came out were: "Are you alright? Are you hurt?"
During the long time they hadn't seen each other, this was actually what weighed on her mind the most.
Morax paused slightly and shook his head gently.
Qiao Xi paused for a moment, then looked up and smiled: "Then I'm relieved."
Looking at her smiling face, Morax tilted his head slightly: "That's it?"
Qiao Xi remained remarkably composed: "Of course!"
Morax continued to watch her.
Qiao Xi couldn't hold back any longer. She lowered her head, thought for a moment, and asked, "Um, do you remember what you said to me before you left?"
“I remember,” Morax said in a low voice.
Qiao Xi looked up, her bright eyes holding a hint of uncertainty: "Then, does it still count?"
Morax didn't understand why the girl was asking him that. Could it be that he had left for a while and the girl had changed her mind?
He frowned, his voice low: "It counts."
Upon hearing this answer, Qiao Xi actually felt a sense of relief.
She nodded: "Then you're quite a man of your word."
Morax frowned.
Qiao Xi smiled at him.
Morax: "Qiao Xi, stand up. It's inconvenient for me to see you while you're sitting."
"Okay, okay." Qiao Xi stood up obediently.
Morax looked down at her, and after a moment, smiled slightly.
Remembering Jinlan's suggestion, Qiao Xi suddenly called out to Morax when he was about to take her back: "Morax."
Morax stopped in his tracks: "What's wrong?"
Qiao Xi's face felt a little hot, but fortunately the morning sun hadn't fully risen yet, so the redness on her face wasn't noticeable.
She said softly, "I want to kiss you."
Morax didn't hear him clearly at first: "Huh?"
Qiao Xi held back her anger: "I want to kiss you."
As soon as she finished speaking, the surroundings fell silent. Morax had heard her words clearly. He frowned and looked at her, his eyes as dark as the deep sea, and he remained silent.
Qiao Xi regretted it a little. Although they had been in a relationship for a long time, this was only their second meeting since they officially confirmed their relationship. Was it a bit too much to make this request?
She looked at Morax with difficulty: "I won't force you."
She pursed her lips.
Morax continued to look at her for a long time, a helpless smile appearing in his eyes.
He nodded helplessly: "You can kiss me."
Qiao Xi was a little surprised that Morax was so easy to talk to.
Still uneasy, she asked again, "Don't you feel strained?"
Morax nodded: "No pressure."
After saying that, he added, "I'd be happy to."
His words made Qiao Xi feel a little embarrassed, but at the same time, she couldn't help but laugh when she looked at him.
She nodded hesitantly, looking at Morax with bright, smiling eyes.
Morax stood there tall and high up, so Qiao Xi didn't even reach his shoulder. He stood with his hands behind his back, waiting for Qiao Xi to kiss him.
For Qiao Xi, this was her first time killing fish, and it felt even harder than cleaning fish at the supermarket, even though she had never done it before and never planned to. Her mind was a complete mess, her thoughts racing from selling fish at the supermarket to battling dinosaurs.
She met Morax's gaze and took a small step forward. Her height increased slightly as she moved forward, but when she actually stood in front of Morax and was surrounded by his faint fragrance, Qiao Xi struggled to lift her head and realized that Morax was so tall that she would have to stand on tiptoe if she wanted to kiss him.
Not knowing where to put her hands, Qiao Xi imitated Morax by putting them behind her back. She stood on tiptoe, facing the direction of Morax's lips, closed her eyes, and tried to pout.
After a while, Qiao Xi felt no sensation on her lips. She wondered if Morax's mouth was made of air.
Qiao Xi secretly raised one eye, only to see Morax leaning back slightly, looking down at her with narrowed eyes and furrowed brows.
Qiao Xi's expression immediately turned puzzled: "What are you doing?"
Morax was also shocked: "You want to kiss me? On the lips?"
Qiao Xi pursed her lips, her eyes looking somewhat lost: "No, what else?"
Morax, unusually, couldn't hold back any longer. He coughed lightly, seemingly trying to mentally prepare himself.
Qiao Xi broke down: "Morax, this is my first time too, you know. The way you're doing this makes me look really, really weird, okay?"
Morax: "Strange?"
Qiao Xi felt like crying. She shouldn't have had that thought. Now she didn't know how to end this situation, so she just looked at Morax, not knowing what to say.
After a while, Morax relented: "Okay, let's kiss."
Qiao Xi looked at him with a wronged expression: "Can we kiss again?"
Morax made up his mind: "Yes."
Qiao Xi was somewhat wilted by all this back and forth. She shook her head and said, "Forget it, I don't want to kiss anymore."
She turned to leave, but Morax suddenly grabbed her by the back of her collar.
Morax used a little force to flip the girl over and pull her in front of him.
He said very seriously, "No going back on your word."
Qiao Xi pursed her lips, looked at him with a wronged expression, and then smiled.
Morax laughed too.
Qiao Xi tentatively stepped forward again, tiptoed, closed her eyes, and moved forward. This time, she touched soft, gentle lips.
Qiao Xi paused for a moment. The feeling was wonderful. Even though it was just lips touching lips, she could feel Morax's breath on her face like a feather tickling.
Even the usually composed Rock King Emperor could sense the unease in his breathing at this moment.
And, the increasingly distinct, faint fragrance, intertwined with the scents of the two, creates a unique aroma.
Qiao Xi slowly opened her eyes but found that Morax had not closed them at all.
A mischievous little deer was beating in her chest. She leaned forward slightly, her lips pressed tightly together for a moment, and then she pulled away.
Qiao Xi looked up at Morax, and the unreality she felt before suddenly became tangible.
Her face was burning hot, so hot that she couldn't think of what expression to make.
Morax, on the other hand, frowned, looked down at her, and then smiled.
Qiao Xi asked, "What are you thinking about?"
Morax asked, "Was that your first kiss?"
Qiao Xi nodded: "If you believe, it exists; if you don't believe, it doesn't."
Morax reached out and tapped her on the head: "What are you talking about?"
Qiao Xi rubbed her head and laughed, "Anyway, you're the first person I've ever kissed."
Morax looked down at her intently, then slowly bent down and gently kissed her forehead, meeting her gaze: "Me too."
He tentatively tried to hold Qiao Xi in his arms.
Qiao Xi also guessed Morax's intention at this moment.
In the comics she used to read, it seemed like they always started by holding hands, then hugging, and finally kissing.
But somehow the order got messed up when it came to her and Morax.
You really can't confuse comics with reality.
But just then, a deer's cry came from afar. Qiao Xi looked over and saw Master Yi Xiao absorbing the morning's spiritual energy in a very distant place.
