When they came out of the hospital, it was already four o'clock in the afternoon. Li Rongrong's physical examination was completed and nothing serious happened to her. Li Rongrong's parents breathed a sigh of relief and suggested taking everyone out for dinner.

"Teacher, I won't go. It's too late. I have to go home, otherwise my mother will worry." Jiang Zhizhi said.

She was not familiar with her homeroom teacher, Li Rongrong's parents, or even Li Rongrong herself. She could imagine what these people would say during the meal, and such a scene was too embarrassing for her.

It would be more meaningful for her to spend this time reading a book.

But the purpose of inviting everyone to this meal was to thank Jiang Zhizhi. If Jiang Zhizhi doesn't come, what's the point of having this meal?

The class teacher Xu Haiyan knew that Li Rongrong's parents wanted to thank Jiang Zhizhi, so she wanted to persuade her.

But before she could say anything, Xu Qingbo said, "Teacher, I won't go either. My parents are going to take me out tonight, and it will be too late if I don't go back."

Since Jiang Zhizhi and Xu Qingbo were not going, Lu Xiye didn't want to go even more.

He and Li Rongrong have absolutely no connection at all.

"Then I'll go home too." He put his hands in his pockets, looking uninterested.

Lin Qingyu said: "Teacher, let me take Jiang Zhizhi home. Her foot injury hasn't healed yet, and it's not convenient for her to travel alone."

Xu Haiyan felt a little embarrassed, so she turned around and said to Li Rongrong's parents, "The children are tired. Let's forget about eating. I'll take them home early. You can take Rongrong back too. She must have been scared today."

"Okay, then we'll go to school another day." Li Rongrong's father said politely.

Xu Haiyan drove Jiang Zhizhi, Xu Qingbo, Lu Xiye and Lin Qingyu home. Jiang Zhizhi originally only wanted Xu Haiyan to take her to the gymnasium entrance, but they insisted on taking her home. She had no choice but to take them to the small rental house where she and her mother lived.

Cheng Yuping had not returned yet, so Jiang Zhizhi opened the door and everyone went in together.

The small rental house, which was not spacious to begin with, was almost unable to move out after five people suddenly rushed in.

Although the room was cramped, it was very clean. The sunlight poured in through the large windows, making it warm and dry.

Jiang Zhizhi sat down on the stool in front of the desk. "My mother will be back soon. Teacher, please take them home. I can do it on my own."

"Okay, teacher will leave you my phone number. Call me if you have any questions." Xu Haiyan took a pen and paper from the table and left her cell phone number for Jiang Zhizhi.

Xu Qingbo placed Jiang Zhizhi's old clothes and the medicine prescribed by the hospital on the table and said, "Jiang Zhizhi, remember to change the medicine."

After saying that, they followed Xu Haiyan out of Jiang Zhizhi's house.

Lu Xiye was walking at the back. He paused at the door and looked back at her.

He wanted to say something, but stopped himself, turned around and followed him away.

Jiang Zhizhi breathed a sigh of relief and took out a copy of "The Life of Newton" from the bookcase next to her. Just as she opened the book, her cell phone rang.

It was a text message.

[No tutoring today, no deduction of money.]

She didn't leave any notes, and the text message still contained a string of numbers.

However, she did not delete the message she sent before, and it was obvious that it was from Lu Xiye.

Jiang Zhizhi glanced at him and replied.

【I will make up for two more hours tomorrow.】

She didn't want to take advantage of him.

Almost as soon as the message was sent, Lu Xiye replied.

[You don't even need a break even though your feet are like this? ]

【We are closed today.】

[…You’re awesome.]

Jiang Zhizhi turned off her cell phone, put it aside, and concentrated on reading.

Before going out today, Jiang Zhizhi specifically told Cheng Yuping that after returning from Hongye Mountain, she would go directly to Lu Xiye's place for tutoring. Cheng Yuping did not rush back, and it was already past eight o'clock in the evening when she got home after setting up the stall.

As soon as she came in, she saw Jiang Zhizhi's bandaged foot and hurried over to see her, "Zhizhi, what's wrong with your foot?"

"It's nothing. I just got scratched when I was out playing with my classmates. It's no big deal." Jiang Zhizhi comforted her.

"How did you get scratched?" Cheng Yuping noticed the gray-blue hospital gown Jiang Zhizhi was wearing. "Where did you get this gown from?"

Jiang Zhizhi had no choice but to tell Cheng Yuping what happened today.

However, she did not say that she jumped into the water to save people. She just told her that she and her classmates went to save Li Rongrong and accidentally scratched her foot.

Cheng Yuping was horrified by what she heard. She sighed, her face filled with worry. "From now on, you kids shouldn't go out to play together. At least have an adult with you. We were lucky we were able to rescue your classmate today. If something else happens in the future, what will you do?"

"I know. We won't go to dangerous places to play in the future. Don't worry." Jiang Zhizhi said obediently.

Cheng Yuping still felt scared. She held Jiang Zhizhi's calf and said distressedly, "How deep is your wound? Let me see."

"It's okay. Let's wait until I change the dressing before going to bed." Jiang Zhizhi said with a sweet smile like a spoiled child, "Mom, I'm hungry."

"Okay, Mom will go cook now, what do you want to eat?"

"I still want to eat noodle soup."

Outside the window, the night is deep.

There was no light on in the room. Xu Qingbo sat on the small balcony of the room, staring at the starless night sky outside, lost in thought.

"Qingbo, it's time for dinner... Oh, why didn't you turn on the light?" Xu Qingbo's mother, wearing a blue plaid apron, pushed open the door and was startled by the darkness in the room.

But her eyes quickly adjusted to the darkness, and she saw Xu Qingbo sitting on the balcony with a lonely look on his face.

Xu Qingbo's mother was stunned for a moment, then walked over to Xu Qingbo and changed her tone, asking gently, "What's wrong? Didn't you have a good time out today?"

"Mom, I feel a little uncomfortable." Xu Qingbo was not wearing glasses. In the darkness, his pupils looked empty, as if he was very confused.

Xu Qingbo's mother gently held him in her arms and said, "If you feel bad, tell me what's in your heart and I'll comfort you."

"Today, when we went to Red Leaf Mountain to play, a classmate fell into the water."

"Ah? How is she now?" Xu Qingbo's mother asked in surprise.

Xu Qingbo said, "It's okay. Another girl from our class rescued her."

"The girls in your class?"

"Well, she seems to be two months younger than me." Xu Qingbo held his mother's hand and pursed his lips tightly. "Mom, I can swim too, but I didn't jump in to save that classmate. I don't know why, but when I saw her fall into the water, I was completely stunned. I wanted to go in to save her, but I was afraid I couldn't do it... I didn't dare to go in."

As he spoke, he choked up, "Mom, I'm not as good as you say. Compared to Jiang Zhizhi, I'm timid and cowardly. Her bravery makes me feel so despicable and selfish... I'm obviously not like that..."

Since he was a child, he has been the child of other people's families. He has a wealthy family, excellent grades, is well-behaved and sensible, has a wide range of interests, and has no bad habits. As long as it is something he wants to do, he can always do it to the best of his ability, and has won praise from countless people.

But what happened today completely hit him.

Compared with him, Jiang Zhizhi was still a female classmate, thin and not as strong as him.

She jumped without hesitation.

"That's not right, Qingbo. You're wrong to think that way." Xu Qingbo's mother hugged him tightly, distressed. "You're still a child. Saving people isn't a child's responsibility. You don't need to blame yourself like this."

"But Jiang Zhizhi is also a child." Xu Qingbo felt distressed. "Saving people isn't the responsibility of children, nor is it the responsibility of adults. It's the responsibility of the emergency personnel. But if they had waited until the emergency personnel arrived, Li Rongrong would have drowned long ago."

"Qingbo, everyone has their own advantages and strengths. You should learn from Jiang Zhizhi, and Jiang Zhizhi also has things to learn from you, right? You should be happy that you have a classmate like Jiang Zhizhi." Xu Qingbo's mother comforted him.

This made Xu Qingbo feel better. He nodded and said, "I really should learn from Jiang Zhizhi."

The next day, Cheng Yuping made breakfast, changed Jiang Zhizhi's medicine, and then hurried out to buy supplies. There were more people on holidays, and fruits sold better than usual. Although she also wanted to take care of Jiang Zhizhi at home, as a single mother, she could only grit her teeth and go out to make money.

Jiang Zhizhi was actually not seriously injured. Although the wound on the sole of her foot was a little deep, it was only an external injury after all.

She put the trauma medicine, alcohol and cotton balls into her schoolbag, took the books she borrowed from the library, and limped out.

She finally had a vacation and the chance to go to the library, so she definitely couldn't miss it.

Besides, I have already finished reading these books, so I need to replace them with new ones as soon as possible.

After taking the bus to the library, Jiang Zhizhi returned the book first and then started reading in the library.

Until noon, when many people went out to eat, she went into the bathroom, removed the gauze, washed the soles of her feet, and sat on the floor to apply medicine and bandage herself.

The men's and women's restrooms were on either side of the bathroom. A young man in his twenties came out of the men's restroom and saw Jiang Zhizhi sitting on the floor struggling to apply medicine and bandage herself. He walked over with concern, "Little sister, are you hurt?"

Jiang Zhizhi looked up at him. The young man looked like a scholar, wearing a pair of black-framed glasses. He was gentle and polite, not like a bad guy.

She said calmly, "I brought some medicine. Just rebandage it and it will be fine."

"Let me help you, it's inconvenient for you to do it yourself."

As he spoke, he took Jiang Zhizhi's medicine without saying anything and gently pinched her foot with his other hand.

His actions were very clean, and he didn't have any intention of taking advantage of Jiang Zhizhi.

Seeing that he was really kind, Jiang Zhizhi didn't struggle and simply let him apply the medicine to her. "Thank you, uncle."

"Your wound is so deep, how did you get injured?"

"It was cut by glass." Jiang Zhizhi said in a light tone.

Her calm tone surprised the man. A girl of her age who had suffered such a serious injury would have been crying for her parents, but she was so calm, as if it was not a big deal at all.

The man bandaged Jiang Zhizhi's foot, and his eyes suddenly noticed the three books he had taken from the bookshelf placed next to her.

The book on top is "Newton's Three Laws".

The man was stunned for a moment, "Little sister, what grade are you in?"

"Sixth grade." Jiang Zhizhi said while putting on her shoes.

"You haven't even started junior high yet, why are you reading a physics book?"

Jiang Zhizhi didn't want to explain too much, so she said, "I like physics."

Xu Honghan, a doctor of physics, looked at Jiang Zhizhi in front of him and suddenly had a feeling in his heart.

This little girl seems to be quite spiritual.
