Meng Zhao was a little puzzled. The two of them had been together for a month. If the woman really had an infectious disease, the first person to be infected would probably be this little boy. But this child was full of energy and ran very fast. Today, he almost couldn't catch up with him. He didn't seem sick at all.
Meng Zhao's mind raced, and another possibility gradually emerged. She frowned slightly and asked, "Have you seen a doctor along the way?"
The little boy shook his head. "Waaah, Sister Wei said she has a disease that is incurable and refuses to see a doctor. I don't know what a disease is either."
He cried and shook the unconscious woman in his arms, but no matter how much he cried and shook her, she did not wake up.
Meng Zhao felt as if a heavy stone was pressing down on her heart. It was obvious what kind of harm a young woman would suffer in a bandit's den.
If that's really the case, it would explain why the child was unharmed despite her spending so much time with him.
In ancient times, sexually transmitted diseases covered a wide range of conditions and did not refer to any specific disease. Before figuring out what disease it was, Meng Zhao did not dare to help rashly.
Turning around to ask Shen Qinghe's opinion, she found him standing there in a daze, his eyes revealing a hint of fear and confusion.
Meng Zhao then realized that as a modern person with some medical knowledge, she knew that the disease was not transmitted through the air, so although she was a little nervous, she was not too scared.
In ancient times, venereal disease was a disease that people feared, and Shen Qinghe was young, so he must have been worried.
Meng Zhao pulled him out of the earth god temple and asked with concern, "Qinghe, how are you?"
Shen Qinghe's body trembled slightly. She reached out and tightly grasped Meng Zhao's hand, her eyes filled with fear. "Sister-in-law, he just touched you."
Meng Zhao then remembered that the little boy had touched her when he slapped her hand away because he was afraid she would touch the woman.
Shen Qinghe's voice trembled slightly, "Sister-in-law, it's all my fault, I shouldn't have brought you here."
He was the one who suggested coming to the local temple; if something happened to his sister-in-law, he really wouldn't know what to do.
Seeing how scared he was, Meng Zhao quickly comforted him softly, "Second brother, don't worry, I'll be fine."
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are primarily transmitted through close contact. While indirect transmission is possible, the risk is not high. In fact, they only briefly touched hands and did not have much physical contact, so the chance of infection is extremely low.
Even standing outside, the little boy's cries inside could still be clearly heard by Meng Zhao. Meng Zhao glanced at the gate of the earth god temple and continued, "Qinghe, I think we should ask a doctor to come and take a look at this."
The woman is unconscious, and the child's words are unclear. We need to call a doctor to make a decision.
If it were up to Shen Qinghe, leaving now would undoubtedly be the best course of action. However, judging from his sister-in-law's expression, she seemed to feel quite sorry for the woman inside. So he nodded and said, "Alright, I'll go and fetch a doctor."
Before leaving, Shen Qinghe, with a worried expression, instructed Meng Zhao: "Sister-in-law, I know you are kind-hearted, but listen to me, don't touch her or go back in until the doctor and I return."
Meng Zhao nodded emphatically and then reminded him, "When you call a doctor, make sure you explain the situation clearly so the doctor can prepare in advance. If the doctor is unwilling to come, there's no need to force him."
Watching Shen Qinghe's figure gradually disappear into the distance after agreeing, Meng Zhao's heart couldn't help but clench.
The air grew colder and colder. Meng Zhao gripped the hand warmer tightly in both hands, feeling the warmth inside, and paced back and forth in front of the earth god temple.
The little boy came out twice, and Meng Zhao told him that he had gone to fetch a doctor. He didn't know how the woman inside was doing, so Meng Zhao placed the hand warmer in front of the earth god temple and asked the boy to take it to warm the woman.
Meng Zhao didn't know the time either, so she could only wait. She kept pacing back and forth in front of the temple when she suddenly heard a rapid "crunch crunch" sound of footsteps on the snow. She looked up and saw that Shen Qing had indeed brought the doctor over.
The visitors were an old man and a young man. The younger one was an acquaintance of Meng Zhao, Li Shize from Huichuntang. Meng Zhao hurriedly went to greet them and said, "Doctors, the person is inside. It's so late at night, we really have to trouble you."
When Li Shize saw it was her, he nodded to her. The old man walking in front was very silent. After arriving, he didn't say anything, but took out some powder from his medicine box and sprinkled some on Meng Zhao, which made her sneeze. Then he sprinkled some on himself, Li Shize, and Shen Qinghe.
Then he took out a stick of incense about the thickness of a thumb from the medicine box, lit it, and went into the earth god temple. Not long after the two went in, the little boy named Xiaochuan was also covered in medicinal powder and chased out.
Seeing the doctor go in, Meng Zhao's heart finally settled down a little. She was able to ask about Shen Qinghe's condition. Seeing that he was sweating despite the cold weather, she wanted to give him a handkerchief to wipe his sweat, but then realized that she had forgotten to bring one in her haste to come out.
Shen Qinghe's gaze fell on Meng Zhao's hand. Seeing that the hand warmer was gone, he frowned and a hint of displeasure appeared on his face. He looked at Meng Zhao with a reproach in his eyes. Meng Zhao blinked and explained, "I didn't go in. I just put the hand warmer at the door and the child took it in."
Shen Qinghe couldn't help but glare at the little boy who was leaning against the door of the earth god temple, sighed softly, and told Meng Zhao about what had just happened.
After leaving the local temple, he visited two clinics. The first clinic was closed, and the other opened but closed the door without saying a word after hearing that it might be a case of "venereal disease." Finally, he took a long detour to Huichuntang.
