Chapter 80 Drunkenness

"Qinghe, Qinghe?" Meng Zhao called out tentatively twice.

Hearing someone call his name, Shen Qinghe focused his gaze on the person. Although he still looked as calm as usual, his reaction speed was indeed much slower, and Meng Zhao knew that he was really drunk.

Of the people at the table, Meng Dashan was completely drunk, while Xu Yunrong and Gu Shi were chatting together and seemed to be relatively sober.

Meng Zhao called Xu Ping to serve the dumplings together. After eating some herself, she prepared to take her parents home.

But ever since she called Shen Qinghe's name, he probably thought she was going to order him around, so he kept following her closely. When she went to get dumplings, Shen Qinghe handed her the bowl; when she went to get water, Shen Qinghe helped her carry the bucket. Meng Zhao's shoes were almost stepped on and fell off by him.

So all I could do was serve him a bowl of dumplings, push him to the table, and order, "Eat your dumplings. Don't move until you've finished."

After receiving clear instructions, Shen Qinghe finally stopped and sat quietly at the table eating dumplings. Seeing that he was quite well-behaved, Meng Zhao went to make arrangements for the other people.

Gu's face was slightly flushed, and her eyes were somewhat drunk. Meng Zhao asked Shen Qingze and Shen Qingyu to fetch some water for her to wipe her face, and then led her to the room to rest.

Meng Zhao, along with Xu Ping and the two children, first covered the unfinished food with lids, and then soaked the used tableware in a basin of water.

The remaining task was to take Meng Dashan and Xu Yunrong home. Although Xu Yunrong was also a little drunk, she was still relatively sober. She reached out and pulled Meng Dashan, trying to wake him up, "Meng Dashan, we're going home, wake up."

Meng Dashan was completely drunk, and he kept muttering as he hugged Xu Yunrong, "Wife, please let me have one more drink. Hey, where's my wine glass? Wife, did you hide my wine glass?"

Xu Yunrong was quite angry with him and said angrily, "What are you drinking for? If you're not leaving, I'll leave on my own. You can sleep in this courtyard."

"No, I don't want to sleep in the yard, I want to go home with my wife," Meng Dashan insisted, hanging his whole body on Xu Yunrong. Luckily, Xu Yunrong was also tall and strong, otherwise she would have been crushed by him.

Seeing this, Meng Zhao quickly stepped forward to support her, saying, "Mother, let me take you back first."

"No need, I'll take your father back. You've been busy all day, you should rest." Xu Yunrong felt sorry for her daughter and quickly refused.

"It's okay, I'm not tired. If Dad falls asleep on the way, you won't be able to lift him up by yourself."

Upon hearing this, Xu Yunrong realized that it made perfect sense; with Meng Dashan's large physique, she really couldn't lift him up on her own.

So Meng Zhao and Xu Ping each took Meng Dashan's arm, one on each side, preparing to take them home. At this moment, Shen Qinghe, who had finished eating dumplings, followed them, wanting to go out with them.

He's still drunk; he's just making things worse. "Second brother, you shouldn't follow me."

Seeing that Shen Qinghe still wanted to follow, Meng Zhao wanted to find him something to do, so he casually instructed, "Just stand in a horse stance in the yard. Don't get up until I come back. Be good, go ahead."

Shen Qinghe's previously somewhat confused eyes were now full of incomprehension, as if she was trying to understand Meng Zhao's meaning. In the end, she nodded and went to the courtyard to practice her horse stance.

This scene amused Xu Yunrong. Normally, Shen Qinghe was very proper in his speech and actions, and seemed very composed. She never expected him to be so obedient after getting drunk.

Meng Zhao and the others chatted as they walked towards the Meng family home. Although Meng Dashan was drunk, he was still quite well-behaved. After they arrived safely, Meng Zhao told Xu Ping to go back first.

"Xiaoping, hurry back before it gets dark. And please tell Aunt Feng'e that she should come to work tomorrow." The half-pig at home can't be left out for long; the business needs to get going quickly.

“Okay, cousin.” Xu Ping nodded and then went back to Shenjia Village.

No sooner had Xu Ping left than Meng Dashan vomited. Meng Zhao and Xu Yunrong were busy again, first fetching water for him to wash his face, and then applying a towel to his wound.

Worried that they would feel unwell the next day if they drank alcohol, Meng Zhao found the small stove in the house again, thinking of making them some hangover soup.

This hangover soup is easy to make. Just put ginger slices in cold water, bring it to a boil, then add sugar and vinegar, turn to low heat and simmer for a few more minutes.

After the hangover soup was cooked, Meng Zhao first had Meng Dashan and Xu Yunrong each drink a bowl. Remembering that there were still two people at home who had been drinking, she took a jar, filled it with some more, and prepared to take it back with her.

When she was serving the soup, she suddenly remembered that she had casually told Shen Qinghe to practice horse stance when she came out. She wondered if he was still practicing horse stance in the yard.

Uh, very likely.

She quickly put the lid on, extinguished the fire, told Xu Yunrong, and rushed home. When she entered the courtyard, she saw Shen Qinghe looking at her with a mournful expression.

Meng Zhao quickly went over and helped him up. He saw that there was sweat on his forehead and his legs were trembling slightly. "Second brother, how could you be so silly? You're tired and you don't even know to get up by yourself."

Shen Qinghe looked as if he had heard the most unreasonable thing in the world, his face showing disbelief. "It was my sister-in-law who said that you weren't allowed to get up because you weren't back."

"Ah, did I say that?" Meng Zhao felt a little guilty. She had just been busy helping Meng Dashan and had only said it casually. She didn't really remember it.

As if to prove his point, Shen Qinghe nodded emphatically and said loudly, "Yes!"

With that exertion, he swayed violently and almost fell to the ground again. Meng Zhao quickly steadied him, thinking, "Oh no, this kid is so vengeful, he might hold a grudge."

Seeing his dazed look, Meng Zhao guessed that he wouldn't remember these things when he woke up tomorrow, so she poured him a bowl of the hangover soup she had brought back and placed it in front of him.

I poured another bowl, intending to give it to Madam Gu, but seeing that she was fast asleep, I didn't wake her. I then quietly brought the bowl of soup out.

Shen Qinghe was sitting at the table, staring intently at the bowl of soup. When she came over, she asked, "Sister-in-law, is this poison?"

At this moment, Meng Zhao looked at him like a naughty child who didn't like to take his medicine. But Shen Qinghe was already taller than her and no longer looked like a child. Meng Zhao was too lazy to coax him and simply reached out, picked up the bowl, and held it to his lips.

"It's poison. Come on, drink it quickly and go to sleep."

Shen Qinghe looked very resistant, but dared not refuse to drink. After he finished the first bowl, Meng Zhao picked up another bowl. Since he had already done it, it would be a waste not to drink it, so he forced Shen Qinghe to drink it.

After drinking two bowls of hangover soup, Shen Qinghe seemed to have all her strength drained away. She was completely listless, her pale skin flushed slightly, her eyelids drooped slightly, and her beautiful peach blossom eyes were now covered with a layer of mist, radiating a shimmering light and revealing a docileness that she didn't usually have.

Seeing this, Meng Zhao coughed lightly, thinking to himself that this person should drink less in the future.

After he wiped his face with a towel and went back to his room to sleep, Meng Zhao was exhausted. He had had a very fulfilling day.
