Mountain God (4)
Yu Shu felt much better after resting for three days.
In fact, his fever subsided the next day after taking the medicine, and his limbs and muscles were no longer swollen and painful, and he could move normally. However, Ziyin and Jiang Yu were both more nervous than each other, and neither of them let him get out of bed.
"Come for a walk with me." Ziyin stood in the yard and looked inside.
Jiang Yudang was too weak to take care of himself, so he had to blow on the porridge in the morning until it was at the right temperature before feeding it to him, for fear that it would be a little too hot and cause burns.
He was unhappy when he heard his master ask Yu Shu to leave: "I haven't finished eating yet."
Zi Yin snorted and gave Jiang Yu a look: "I am blind and can't see. I didn't say it now, why are you in such a hurry?"
Jiang Yu was like a scolded child, his aggrieved eyes drifting towards Yu Shu's face.
Yu Shu touched Jiang Yu's hair and said to Zi Yin, "Okay, please wait a moment."
Ziyin nodded and walked out of the yard.
After Ziyin had walked away, Yu Shu said, "Don't talk to your master like that."
"He has been like this since he was a child. He just has a sharp tongue. I'm just joking with him. I'm used to it." Jiang Yu took out a tissue and wiped the stains from the corners of Yu Shu's mouth.
Yu Shu was stunned. He had always thought that Jiang Yu knew nothing and that was why he always argued with Zi Yin. It turned out that he knew that Zi Yin was tough on the outside but soft on the inside.
"We're used to it and can't change it." Jiang Yu stared at the archway in the courtyard, his tone softening.
"But don't ask me about my childhood today, Master. If you want to know, I'll tell you slowly in bed tonight."
Yu Shu poked Jiang Yu's dimple and said, "The abacus beads fell on my face."
"Why don't you fall for it today? You agreed the first two times I asked you."
"Third time is better than last time. I won't fall into the same pit three times." The first two times Jiang Yu said he told him in person at night, they were all lies, trying to coax him to sleep.
Jiang Yubi seemed petty, fearing that Ziyin would say a few more words and damage his image in front of Yu Shu. However, it was also because of this that Yu Shu felt it was real.
At twenty, people not only care about their image, but also about how their crushes view them. Yu Shu also had a crush on someone when he was twenty, and although he never said it out loud, he was very concerned about his image and how the girl he was attracted to viewed him. If Jiang Yu didn't even have this level of anxiety, then one had to wonder if he had just lived a fake twenty.
Yu Shu placed his fingers on Jiang Yu's chin, tapping and massaging it gently with his fingertips like a puppy playing, and said with a smile, "I like you no matter what you are like."
Jiang Yu's bright eyes were filled with joy.
The house is hidden in the woods. When you walk out of the yard, you will see the woods covered with snow. The small animals running by will drop some snow. After walking around for a distance and looking back, the house has disappeared out of thin air, and in front of you is the Tianchi Lake that is sparkling with tiny lights in the sun.
The scenery was impeccable, except it was too cold.
Yu Shu couldn't adapt to it for a moment and sneezed.
Ziyin's big tail slowly stretched out and wrapped around Yu Shu.
"It's not good to be seen by others." Yu Shu was afraid that some tourists would see and take pictures, and then Ziyin would become a "wanted criminal."
Zi Yin said indifferently: "Normally, you can't see it."
When Lu Jing first picked him up, he already had six tails. Lu Jing was afraid that people who went up the mountain would see the six-tailed fox and capture it to make elixirs, so he cast a spell on the entire mountain. Only those who wanted to see him could see him.
The former mountain god has passed away, but he still left the amulet to his last believer and only follower.
"Oh, that's good." Yu Shu breathed a sigh of relief.
The fierce cold wind made the snow sway, but not a single drop of it hit Yu Shu's face. Zi Yin's big tail blocked the way, and the soft fur slid across the tip of his nose, soft and with a faint fragrance of Chinese herbal medicine.
Last time, Zi Yin only showed one tail, but this time, six tails and three wounds were clearly visible.
Yu Shu's heart dropped with a thud.
Zi Yin noticed Yu Shu's gaze and spoke calmly, his tone casual as if he was discussing someone else's business: "Actually, you know, it's basically impossible for a newborn baby to survive a snowy night in the wild with just a blanket."
Yu Shu had doubted this statement before. It would be reasonable if it happened in a flat place, where there were no wild beasts in the mountains and no howling wind and snow.
"He did make it, but he didn't live long." Zi Yin's eyes were gentle, like the clear water flowing again after the ice and snow melted. "At that time, I thought, if I could be bolder and braver and not care about things like fate, it would be better."
So, Ziyin cut off one tail and saved it for Jiang Yu.
Because he had been blessed by the celestial fox by having its tail severed and had drunk its blood, Jiang Yu became a popular commodity coveted by all sorts of creatures. That's why Zi Yin forced Jiang Yu to learn magic and exercise.
Over the years, Ziyin always blamed himself for not lending a helping hand in the beginning, which caused Jiang Yu to lose his normal life. So when Jiang Yu was naughty and caused trouble as a child, at most he would just say a few words, make him stand in the corner, and make him clean Lu Jing's mountain temple, but he never really beat him.
The other two tails were from Jiang Yutianchi, who drowned. Saving the same person, it wasn't just one tail that was cut off; the second time, two tails were cut off, and the third time, four tails.
"I'm not saying all this to make you feel sorry for myself, it's just that there's not many people I can talk to, and I couldn't hold it in for so long." After laying the groundwork for a long time, Ziyin took a deep breath.
"Although Jiang Yu was a naughty brat when he was young and has a cold face now, he's actually a good person. He's young and if he does something wrong, you should be more tolerant of him. If that doesn't work, bring him back to me and I'll teach him a lesson."
Ziyin's high ponytail, casually tied with white satin, swayed in the wind like flowing ink.
"I'm not saying this to speak well of the brat, it's just that things aren't as good as they used to be. It's more difficult for you to be together and you're more likely to encounter problems. Difficulties and problems can sharpen people, but they also drain your patience and emotions. Sometimes, impulsiveness can lead to inappropriate decisions."
Ziyin turned around. His nose and cheeks were slightly red from the cold, and his eyelashes were stained with white. He smiled, and a puff of white mist blew out, adding a captivating, hazy beauty to his charming face.
"Yeah, okay, thank you Master for telling me this." Yu Shu felt a sense of melancholy in his heart: "I have never met Master, but if Master knew, he would definitely feel sorry for you."
Who says it isn't? The little fox he once held in his arms and protected now imitated him to become a mountain god and a parent. Lu Jing's decision was so sudden that he didn't even give Ziyin time to adapt or prepare.
In some ways, Yu Shu also had a certain gentleness similar to Lu Jing's. Zi Yin pinched his nose, blowing away the sourness that was blocking his nose. He was not wrong. Jiang Yu must have accumulated good fortune in his previous life to meet someone as gentle, considerate, and caring as Yu Shu.
"Here, take it."
Zi Yin took out a warm jade longevity lock and tied it around Yu Shu's wrist.
"I watched that brat grow up, and I know his stubborn character well. He won't change what he has decided on. He brought you back because he means it from the bottom of his heart." Zi Yin took a small step back, and seeing that Yu Shu looked pretty good in it, a satisfied smile appeared on his face.
"I am half his father, and according to custom, I should give you something. From now on, that brat will be in your care, and I will finally not have to suffer anymore." After Lu Jing left, the apprentice he had raised since childhood finally found a home, and a feeling of loneliness instantly surged in his heart.
Ziyin joked in a lazy and relaxed tone, but a hint of loneliness flashed in his eyes.
Yu Shu said frankly and seriously, "Actually, I've also thought about whether I should just call you dad."
Zi Yin was feeling a little sad just now, but when he saw Yu Shu's serious expression, he couldn't help but burst out laughing: "Forget it, let's leave this kind of thing to you two when the time is right."
"Why should I call him dad? At most, I call him uncle." Yu Shu was confused.
Zi Yin raised his eyebrows and curled up the corners of his mouth in an ambiguous way: "Sit here for a while, I don't want to go back and see that brat."
"Uh-huh."
Changbai Mountain is filled with rich spiritual energy. Yu Shu has been here for several days, but he still hasn't fully experienced it. Since there is no topic to talk about right now, he closes his eyes and takes it in.
It is different where there are mountain gods. The air you inhale is cold, but the spiritual energy you feel is gentle and inclusive, as if you are surrounded by a ball of cotton that is soft and warm after being baked by the sun.
But this warmth was different from what Ziyin felt. It was as gentle as spring water with the accumulation of time, while Ziyin's was sharper.
Yu Shu exhaled, and the white mist slowly dissipated: "Master has never left."
After hearing what Lu Jing said, Zi Yin couldn't help but wagged his tail twice.
Did he leave? Did he? This mountain is full of traces of him, but I can't find him. Ziyin repeated this in his mind several times, but he didn't say it out loud.
"The wind is blowing." Jiang Yu chased after them with thick clothes and put them on Zi Yin and Yu Shu.
Zi Yin immediately put away the extra tail, fearing that Jiang Yu would see the wounds of the three broken tails.
Zi Yin frowned and looked at Jiang Yu for several seconds: "You little brat have changed. This is the first time I've seen you do something like this in all these years."
Jiang Yu directly retorted: "This is the first time in all these years that I've seen you acting so stupidly. You're standing outside in this kind of weather."
Yu Shu pulled Jiang Yu to sit down together and gave Jiang Yu a light kiss on his red knuckles.
Zi Yin flicked his tail, twitching Jiang Yu on the forehead, another act of bluffing.
"Get out of here right now. I'm tired of seeing you. I've been here for several days and I'm tired of you. Take your wife and get out of here!"
Zi Yin always said one thing and meant another. When they met a few days ago, he said that Jiang Yu hadn't come back to see him for so long, and now he's chasing him away. In fact, he couldn't bear to leave Jiang Yu, but his apprentice had grown up and had his own life. He should live the life he liked, instead of staying in this mountain for him.
The longer his apprentice and his wife stayed, the more reluctant he was to leave. The more he feared that when they left, he would be left alone to guard the mountain.
Jiang Yu said with a grin, "My legs are on me and I won't leave. What can you do to me? I'm determined to stay here for two or three months. If you chase me away, I'll tell everyone in the mountains that Ziyin chased me away."
"My place is not soundproof, so be careful, kid. If you dare to disturb me, I will throw you into the snow and let you freeze." Zi Yin snorted, then turned to talk to Yu Shu and his expression immediately changed. He said gently, "These fancy clothes of yours are not warm enough. Since you will be staying here for a while, you need to wear something thicker. I will make you some clothes."
Yu Shu was stunned for a moment, thinking about how to refuse. Although he liked the soft and fluffy hair on Zi Yin's tail, he couldn't bear to see Zi Yin pluck his own tail hair to make clothes for him.
"I don't have a share?" Jiang Yu asked as a matter of course.
Zi Yin rolled his eyes in resentment: "No, I have to make you a quilt if you marry a wife, so if you don't have one, your protest is useless, just stay away."
