Extra: Captain Fang and Forensic Doctor Qin
When Fang Changling slapped the on-site investigation report on the conference table, his knuckles made a dull sound.
He raised his eyes to look at Qin Xiyang opposite him, his gaze behind the lenses was as calm as a deep pool.
"The edges of the strangulation marks on the deceased's neck show signs of life, but the degree of contusion of the muscle tissue does not conform to the typical characteristics of hanging. Are you sure it was suicide?"
Qin Xiyang was fiddling with the fiber sample in the glass dish with a scalpel. He didn't even raise his head when he heard this.
The crisp sound of metal equipment colliding was particularly clear in the conference room.
"Captain Fang, I spent three hours looking at it under a microscope in the forensic room. The angle of force applied to the strangulation marks is completely perpendicular to the point where the beam was suspended. How can you ask me to deny that it was suicide?"
He suddenly raised his eyes, the cold light of the scalpel reflected in his pupils.
"You can't force me to fabricate a homicide conclusion just because you think the suspect's eyes look suspicious, right?"
"I didn't ask you to fake it."
Fang Changling's voice became colder, and he used his fingertips to highlight the key points in the report.
"But the deceased's bank statements show that he just received a remittance of 500,000 yesterday. Would a person who was about to commit suicide receive this money?"
"Maybe it's to buy a coffin."
Qin Xiyang sneered and pushed the glass in front of him.
"Look for yourself. This is the fiber extracted from the ligature mark. It is exactly the same material as the deceased's pajamas."
He suddenly reached out and poked Fang Changling's report with his gloved fingertips.
"But you, can you please stop treating the suspect like a piece of cake? After three hours of interrogation and not getting anything out of him, you're going to kill him?"
Fang Changling slammed the report shut, and the metal clip made a sharp sound.
"Qin Xiyang, investigating a case is not like dissecting a corpse. Not all answers can be found under a microscope!"
"It's better than some people's guesswork!"
Qin Xiyang put down the scalpel with a snap, and tore off his rubber gloves and threw them on the tray.
"I'm going to do the tissue section this afternoon. If you want to check the flow, go check it yourself!"
The entire crime squad buried their heads and pretended to sort through the documents, but no one dared to miss the moment when the two men stared at each other.
Fang Changling's jawline was tense, and Qin Xiyang's eyes were sullen, showing no sign of weakness.
It was clearly a tense situation.
But everyone remembers that it was Fang Changling who gave his umbrella to Qin Xiyang and ran back to the police station in the rain yesterday.
And in the breakfast that Qin Xiyang brought this morning, he specially put a pickled mustard greens bun, which Fang Changling liked to eat.
The next morning, Qin Xiyang opened the door of the forensic room and saw a cup of warm soy milk on the table.
There was a note on the wall of the cup, with Fang Changling's neat handwriting:
"When the deceased's family members come to identify the body in the morning, remember not to wear your bloodstained white coat."
He held the note and laughed, "Minding my business", but subconsciously slowed down his drinking of soy milk.
The temperature was just right, not too hot for his mouth.
The day Lai Yun broke this strange balance, Fang Changling was bending over to refill Qin Xiyang's thermos cup with water.
Qin Xiyang was fixing his tie - it got twisted when he was chasing the suspect yesterday.
Lai Yun stood frozen at the door holding an empty paper cup, and after a long while he managed to utter a sentence,
"You two...are you really not dating?"
Fang Changling's hand trembled, and the hot water splashed on the wall of the cup. Qin Xiyang's hand, which was holding his tie, also paused.
The two looked at each other and said in unison,
"Are you out of your mind?"
"Me and him?"
Qin Xiyang let go of his hand and patted Fang Changling's shoulder in disgust.
"He's more rigid than a corpse when handling a case. Who can stand it?"
Fang Changling handed him the thermos cup and said calmly,
"It's better than some people talking about anatomical details during dinner."
But when he turned around, Fang Changling quietly hung the coat that Qin Xiyang had just taken off on the back of the chair——
I know he is a germaphobe and doesn't like his clothes to be stained with dust.
Lai Yun curled his lips, took the autopsy report in boredom, and complained,
"You two better not kiss secretly behind our backs..."
---------
Later, the two left the serious crime team.
Fang Changling was promoted to the captain of the criminal investigation team, and Qin Xiyang became the director of the forensic department, so they had fewer opportunities to meet.
But there is always a tacit understanding in various details that others cannot understand.
The new intern forensic doctor followed Qin Xiyang to the criminal investigation team to deliver a report for the first time. He happened to see Fang Changling throwing a folded coat to Qin Xiyang.
"The weather forecast says it will get colder tonight."
Qin Xiyang took the coat and put it on his shoulders, then threw a thermos bucket over.
"You have a bad stomach, so ask the canteen to make you some yam soup."
He caught a glimpse of the intern's wide-open eyes and suddenly frowned.
"What are you looking at? Go write your autopsy report!"
The intern ran away with his neck shrunk, but that evening, he saw a hot post on the internal forum:
"On the Criminal Investigation Team and Forensic Medicine Department Director Qin's Two or Three Things to Say",
The poster used vivid words to describe the daily life of two people fighting over coffee, bickering with each other, but also tacitly bringing meals. There are already hundreds of comments below.
When Qin Xiyang saw it, he slammed his phone on the table, but his ears turned red.
Fang Changling stood behind him without knowing when, his eyes fell on the screen, and suddenly reached out and pressed the save button.
"The writing is good, but I am portrayed too harshly."
Qin Xiyang turned around suddenly and met his smiling eyes. He suddenly grabbed the scalpel on the table and pretended to throw it.
"Fang Changling, do you want to read fan fiction too?"
Fang Changling smiled and dodged, then picked up the yam soup on his table and took a sip.
As the warmth spread over his throat, he thought,
Maybe such noisy days are also good.
Author's ps: I take back what I said before about the two of them being pure brothers, this is really worth it!! I feel so passionate when writing this...
