No Face
“I love you, Muhe,” Cui Heng said gently, wiping away the tears from the corners of her eyes with his fingers.
"Brother, I love you," Muhe said through tears, tilting her head back and bringing her lips close to Cui Heng's, trying to kiss those cool lips.
Cang Ze was following behind Mu He when he suddenly felt a blinding white light. When he opened his eyes again and came to his senses, he found himself back in the human world a hundred years ago, in that small courtyard he dared not think about. He was standing on the top of the wall, and diagonally opposite was Wang Xiaoxia's room. He could see her admiring her wedding dress in front of the mirror in the distance.
The room was dimly lit, and Wang Xiaoxia's delicate figure was reflected on the window paper. From the shadow, it looked like she was lifting the hem of her wedding dress and twirling in front of the mirror.
For a moment, Cang Ze was in a daze. If he hadn't killed her back then, would things be different now? He couldn't help but jump down and open the door to that room again.
"Wu Huan!" In the candlelight, Wang Xiaoxia, dressed in her wedding gown, gracefully approached him. The red dress accentuated her rosy cheeks, and she smiled shyly as she spoke.
Cang Ze suddenly felt his heart skip a beat. He never dared to dream of such a day again. He couldn't help but gently hug her waist and hold her cool body in his arms. For a hundred years, this was the moment he had longed for.
"Little one, I love you," Cang Ze murmured without being able to stop himself.
"Then let's live here forever, okay? Wu Huan," Wang Xiaoxia said in a childish voice, looking up at him with a pure and innocent expression.
She looked just like Wang Xiaoxia, but her eyes lacked that innocent, watery quality. Cang Ze stared at those eyes for a moment, then suddenly snapped out of his daze.
'Okay, stay here, stay here forever,' Cang Ze wanted to say, but, Xiao Xia! You are a fake after all! A fake Xiao Xia is not worthy of living in the space that originally belonged to Wang Xiao Xia.
Cang Ze raised his hand, and a short knife immediately appeared in his hand. He plunged it into that familiar chest again without the slightest hesitation.
"Ah~" Mu He's miserable scream suddenly rang out, and everything around her was torn apart. Wang Xiaoxia's appearance gradually blurred and turned into Mu He's appearance. A knife was stuck in her chest. Cang Ze looked at Mu He in front of him with a face full of surprise.
"Muhe?" Cangze murmured in surprise, startled and suddenly let go of the knife, which vanished in an instant. Blood spurted from the wound and splashed onto his face, leaving him panicked and unsure of what to do.
Mu He raised her eyes and watched as Cui Heng's face gradually transformed into Cang Ze's likeness. Her heart suddenly felt empty, and the immense loss caused her legs to give way and she fell to the ground, but Cang Ze caught her in his arms.
"How could it be you? Muhe," Cangze said with some regret, holding her tightly in his arms and placing his hand on the wound to slowly inject spiritual power to stop the bleeding.
Mu He fainted as soon as she raised her eyes. If she died, Ao Hen would definitely not let him go!
Cui Heng followed the trail of blood to the deepest part of the cave. The white blood gradually dissipated, and several pitch-black insects appeared at the end of the blood. The insects greedily sucked Cui Heng's blood, completely unaware that their master had arrived.
Cui Heng took out his short knife and transformed it into a folding fan. He waved it gently at the insects, which suddenly rose up and gathered together, eventually coalescing into a dark humanoid shape.
"As expected of the demon beast Bai Ze, it does have some skill!" the insects hummed in low, hoarse voices.
“You guys are too stupid,” Cui Heng said disdainfully.
He waved his hand again, and the fan blew sharply, but the insects suddenly scattered. After the wind howled past, they reformed into human form.
"Whether you can live with yourself or not depends on your own abilities!" the insects buzzed, their buzzing sounding as if mocking him.
Cui Heng remained silent, raising his hand. Suddenly, the folding fan in his hand transformed into a sharp longsword. The cold light reflected on his stern face. He suddenly slashed, and the cold light cleaved the insects, scattering them in all directions. Several of them fell to the ground and were cut in half.
In an instant, the uninjured insects swarmed together again and attacked Cui Heng. Cui Heng dodged left and right and fought with the insects. Before long, there were several more insect corpses on the ground.
Cui Heng calmly picked up a few dead insects from the ground, crushed them into powder in his hand, and smeared the powder on the blade of his sword. He raised the sword in front of him, and as the insects swarmed forward again, he struck the sword with all his might. The powdered insect corpses instantly transformed into sharp ice crystals that flew towards the charging insects, who scattered and fled once more.
Cui Heng coldly watched the insects. When they gathered together again, the ice crystals were attracted and melted into the group of insects. Suddenly, the black shadow cracked open and burst out with white light, shattering the intact insects into dust. In the end, only a few weak insects were left and scattered and fled.
Cui Heng did not exterminate the insects. He waited for the black light to dissipate, and then a colorful light appeared on the cave wall behind them. Cui Heng reached out to the light and took out a seven-colored stone, which was Wu Yan.
Legend has it that Nuwa used this stone as a guide to create the countless humans in the world. Later, after the goddess Nuwa mended the sky, this stone was left behind in this northern land and has not been seen by anyone for thousands of years.
Cui Heng raised the sword in his hand, transforming it into a dagger. He cut open his chest, took out his heart's blood, and poured it onto Wu Yan. The bright red blood began to emit colorful light. Cui Heng murmured until the blood gradually melted into a small, colorful pill. Only then did he feel at ease and carefully put the pill in his clothes and put it away.
Only after he had finished doing all this did he feel relieved enough to smooth out the wound on his chest, straighten his clothes, and take the shameless object out with him, tucking it into his sleeve.
Actually, the cave wasn't very big, but because it was trapped by an illusion, no one had been here for many years. When Cui Heng reached the cave entrance, he looked at Cang Ze and Mu He. Mu He was lying in Cang Ze's arms, covered in blood.
"What's wrong with Muhe?" Cui Heng couldn't help but ask.
At this moment, Mu He was still unconscious. The knife had pierced her heart. Even a demon would lose half its life if its heart and lungs were injured. Blood had stained half of her body red.
"I hurt her," Cang Ze said, sitting on the ground with his eyes downcast. There was no remorse for his mistake in his eyes, only worry about the unknown trouble ahead.
Cui Heng hurried over to check on Mu He. Fortunately, she had some cultivation, and although her injuries were severe, she was not going to die immediately.
"It seems we can't leave anytime soon given her condition. I'll take her back to the cave to heal her wounds. You go and make some Ice Silkworm Crystals; perhaps there's still a chance to save her!" Cui Heng said immediately.
"Alright, did Wu Yan succeed?" Cang Ze asked with concern.
Cui Heng had no intention of hiding anything, and directly took out the faceless object and handed it to Cang Ze, saying:
"It took some effort, but we succeeded."
After Cui Heng finished speaking, he took Mu He from Cang Ze's hands. Mu He was weak and needed to be healed quickly.
Cang Ze held the Wu Yan in his hand and looked around. He didn't find anything special about it; it was just a colorful stone.
“So this is what it means to be faceless,” he said, a smug smile on his face.
"Let's go!" Cui Heng urged, as it was not a good place to stay, and Mu He urgently needed to heal her injuries.
"Okay," Cang Ze replied, stood up, and followed Cui Heng out.
Wang Xiaoxia saw them emerge from the cave from afar. In the end, Cui Heng carried Mu He away, while Cang Ze went in another direction.
Cang Ze returned to the snow once again. Cui Heng had just knocked out a few ice crystals here, and he picked them up intending to keep them for later use. However, the ice crystals were shattered beyond recognition, and it seemed that he would have to start all over again. He had no choice but to sit on the ground and wait for the ice silkworms to arrive.
Perhaps due to the effect of the ice crystal fragments, the ice silkworms arrived even faster this time, and soon a lot of ice silkworm crystals formed on his body. Suddenly, a woman in white stood in front of him. He looked up and saw Wang Xiaoxia wearing a hood and looking at him with a smile.
"It's you, you, Xiaoxia?" Cangze frowned and called out tentatively.
The bright white light around him made Xiaoxia's body somewhat blurry. He seemed not to have fully woken up after just experiencing the illusion. He stared at her in a daze, wondering if she was really Wang Xiaoxia.
Wang Xiaoxia squatted down and reached out to stroke Cang Ze's face. A familiar fragrance wafted over, and a few ice crystals fell directly into her wide sleeve. Her hand was still warm, and Cang Ze couldn't help but press his face against her warm palm.
"Wu Huan, do you still love me?" Wang Xiaoxia asked, bringing her face closer. Her warm breath brushed against Cang Ze's nose, so comforting.
"I love you, I love you every single moment," Cang Ze murmured absentmindedly, his eyes unfocused. He brought his mouth closer, but Wang Xiaoxia stopped him with her hand.
"Where are Wu Huan and Wu Yan?" Wang Xiaoxia asked, looking into his eyes.
Cang Ze frowned. What was Xiao Xia doing? His strong willpower desperately tried to pull him out of his daze. Seeing that things were not going well, Wang Xiaoxia quickly increased the dosage of the medicine.
"I'm not looking anymore, I'm not looking anymore," she said, gently stroking his brow with her hand. Gradually, the wrinkles between his brows smoothed out, and Cang Ze fell into a daze again. She stopped asking questions and simply reached into his clothes to search for him.
This time, Cang Ze did not resist. The familiar scent made him feel as if he were having a dream. In the dream, he and Wang Xiaoxia were lying in a cave in the human world, surrounded by the fragrance of flowers, and Wang Xiaoxia's body also carried a faint scent of grass.
Wang Xiaoxia spent a lot of effort to steal Wuyan from the sleeve. Fortunately, they came out in a hurry, and Cangze's spiritual power was damaged one after another. Otherwise, given his cautious nature, he would not have left Wuyan lying around. She hurriedly put her into her sleeve and got up to go find Cui Heng. Cangze was already asleep on the ground.
His body was covered with a thin layer of ice in the snow.
