Reunion

Reunion

“Ghosts are spirits, and he is no ordinary ghost. It will not be easy to kill him. I have only heard that there is a sacred object in the demon realm called the Soul-Suppressing Cauldron. The divine artifact made from that cauldron can surely make the ghosts’ souls scatter. However, that divine artifact requires Bai Ze’s blood as a catalyst. Sacred objects are easy to find, but Bai Ze’s blood is extremely rare,” said the Bad Guy in a detached tone.

“I know,” Wang Xiaoxia said, her eyes lowered as she looked at the ground. The demon race and the ghost race were about to have their wedding, which was also the purpose of her visit.

Legend has it that a hundred years ago, the Ghost Clan and the Demon Clan searched for the Soul-Suppressing Cauldron together. The Demon Clan's eldest prince died because of it, which angered the Demon King. The Demon King and the current Ghost King joined forces to kill the former Ghost King. Later, a person who claimed to be the Demon King's illegitimate son returned with the cauldron, and that's when the cauldron came into existence.

Over the past century, she has sought countless ways to kill that person, but in the end, she discovered that it was not easy for a mortal like herself to kill a ghost. Only by killing his soul could she kill him. And that sacred artifact of the demon race was the nemesis of the ghost race. No matter what, she had to find that thing.

Perhaps someone like him married that demon princess for this sacred object.

"Are you two envoys not ready yet?" The voice of the ghost messenger came from afar outside the door.

"Here it comes out!" the Bad Guy immediately replied loudly, glancing at Wang Xiaoxia out of the corner of his eye.

Wang Xiaoxia silently stood up, straightened his clothes, grabbed a straw hat from beside him, and put it on his head. Only then did the Bad Guys open the door and the two of them went to greet him.

The wedding banquet was held in the Ghost King's Palace. Along the way, many ghost messengers were busy decorating various places, and the originally dull Ghost King's Palace was now full of joy.

Wang Xiaoxia and the Bad Guys quickly blended into the busy group. Led by a palace eunuch, they inspected the various areas and then cheerfully conveyed the king's request for cold dishes.

For example, what kind of buffet should be served depending on the location and the guests being entertained? Besides the buffet, there should also be fresh flowers. The ghost realm is not as vibrant as the human world, so many buffets need to be decorated with fresh flowers, and these flowers must be purchased from the human world…

Wang Xiaoxia felt as if he were listening to some obscure and difficult scripture, completely bewildered and unable to understand what they were saying. Only the Bad Guys on the side seemed to understand it very well, echoing his words.

"You know a lot about these trivial matters?" Wang Xiaoxia asked the Bad Guys in a low voice while the eunuch was speaking.

After a night, they had gotten to know each other quite well.

"It's just an ordinary thing. You're so focused on researching medicine that you never come into contact with it, so you don't understand," the rogue explained gently.

In front of outsiders, he rarely appeared to be a refined gentleman.

Wang Xiaoxia pouted and nodded perfunctorily twice. She looked around listlessly and then inadvertently saw a couple walking hand in hand not far away.

The man, dressed in fine brocade, possessed an extraordinary air about him. Beneath his sword-like eyebrows and cold eyes, a thin mouth held a faint smile. He tilted his head slightly, his eyes filled with the beautiful woman beside him.

The woman was dressed in red, her skin was like jade, and her graceful movements and gentle smiles exuded nobility.

Wang Xiaoxia was so stunned that she stood there motionless. When the Bad Guys saw her in a daze, they looked over and were also stunned.

"You two, quickly pay your respects! Those are our sovereign and future queen!" The eunuch hurriedly knelt down upon seeing the two figures in the distance, tugging hard at the sleeves of the ruffians.

The Bad Guy snapped out of his daze and turned to look at Wang Xiaoxia. Her eyes were blank, as if she were in a daze. He didn't bend down, but only had a wicked smile on his face. Seeing that the two were getting closer and closer, the eunuch hurriedly grabbed the Bad Guy's sleeve and dared not utter a sound. The Bad Guy, however, did not move and just watched quietly.

Before the palace halls, everyone who passed by bowed and knelt in worship, making these two standing figures stand out even more.

"Who goes there? Why do you not bow before His Majesty!" the woman in red shouted first.

The man beside her, however, had a furrowed brow and was staring intently at the thugs, his face showing a mixture of surprise and ferocity.

"Your Majesty, please forgive me! Your Highness, please forgive me! This is an envoy sent by the Netherworld Crossing Moon Pavilion regarding the wedding banquet's buffet. They are not from our clan and do not understand the customs of our realm. Please, Your Majesty, Your Highness, please do not take offense!" The eunuch knelt on the ground and hurriedly explained, his head bowed low, not daring to get up.

The man in brocade did not look at him; his gaze remained fixed on the rogue.

"Hmm, this is none of your business. You may leave!" the man in brocade said coldly, frowning as he raised his hand slightly.

The eunuch hurriedly retreated, not daring to linger.

At this moment, the two noblemen had already approached. Wang Xiaoxia lowered her head somewhat evasively, her large bamboo hat covering half of her face. The strong smell of blood from her memory wafted up again, and she instinctively tried to back away, but was caught by the Bad Guy. She turned her head and looked up at the Bad Guy, who smiled faintly.

"Brother, how have you been?" the Bad Guy said, a wicked smile playing on his lips.

The man in brocade forced a stiff smile, his lips slightly parted, and after a long while, he managed to squeeze out a few words.

"You've arrived," Cang Ze said somewhat displeased.

"Brother Cangze, I've never heard you mention having a younger brother before. I'm sorry I haven't met him," the woman beside me said softly, sounding a little aggrieved. Upon seeing that the person was an old friend, she lowered her posture and acted like a little bird clinging to someone.

Upon hearing the name Cang Ze, Wang Xiaoxia was visibly taken aback. Noticing this, the Bad Guy simply placed his hand lightly on her shoulder and chuckled like a playboy.

"Muhe," Cangze called softly, turning his head to look at her with eyes full of gentle smiles.

“My father adopted a godson in his early years. After my father passed away, he disappeared without a trace. We haven’t seen him for many years, so we haven’t mentioned him,” Cang Ze explained softly.

Mu He nodded and gave the Bad Guys a polite smile.

"My name is Wu Huan, and I pay my respects to my sister-in-law!" The Bad Guy followed suit, bowing with his hands clasped in greeting.

When Wang Xiaoxia heard the name, her heart skipped a beat, and the strong smell of blood began to torment her again, causing her to bury her head even deeper.

Upon hearing the name Wu Huan, Cang Ze's expression twitched slightly, but he quickly relaxed his furrowed brows. He then glanced at Wang Xiaoxia, who was wearing a bamboo hat beside him, and felt strange. Although this person was dressed as a man, he appeared rather short and weak, and the half of his face that was exposed looked exactly like someone else.

An old friend.

The way she addressed Muhe as "sister-in-law" made her beam with joy.

"So it's Brother Wu Huan. I didn't recognize you at first sight, please don't be offended," Mu He said politely.

"You flatter me, sister-in-law," the man said politely.

Mu He smiled and her gaze fell on Wang Xiaoxia again.

"But what is this?" Mu He asked Wang Xiaoxia softly.

"This is my betrothed, Wang Xiaoxia," the Bad Guy said calmly.

Wang Xiaoxia! It really is her!

Upon hearing the name, Cang Ze was startled and his eyes widened. His gaze was fixed on the petite figure. He had dreamed of this figure countless times over the past century. It must be her, no doubt about it.

For many years, a certain restlessness suppressed in his heart began to take control of him again, causing him to raise his hand tremblingly toward the straw hat, wanting to confirm whether the half-face covered was the person in his dream.

Wang Xiaoxia lowered his head and took a step back. The next second, a pale hand grabbed the outstretched arm. The Bad Guy stepped forward, staring fearlessly into Cang Ze's eyes, and smiled wickedly.

"What are you doing, brother?" the Bad Guy asked in a cold voice.

"Brother Cangze?" Muhe noticed Cangze's unusual expression and called out with concern.

Cang Ze snapped out of his daze, immediately withdrew his hand, and chuckled softly.

"Excuse me, but my sister-in-law kept her head down and I couldn't see her face. I was just curious," Cang Ze said, his expression turning cold.

So what if it's her? What can change now that the bond that should have been severed a hundred years ago has been broken?

"Your Majesty is the King of All Ghosts, with an extraordinary bearing. How dare I, a mere mortal, look directly at you?" Wang Xiaoxia said softly, gently removing her bamboo hat and lowering her head with her gaze down.

It's her! It really is her! That face that's so familiar.

Memories began to pierce Cangze's heart like knives. Even though he had already let go of them, his once peaceful heart began to stir again for some reason.

At the moment of her death, he thought they would never see each other again in this life.

"Is my sister so beautiful, yet she is just a mortal?" Mu He stared at Wang Xiaoxia and couldn't help but ask.

The woman was too beautiful, and coupled with Cang Ze's reaction just now, Si Ye instinctively became wary of Wang Xiaoxia.

“A hundred years ago, my daughter died once. For some reason, her soul could not be reincarnated, and she did not remember anything from her previous life. So she had to stay in the Netherworld. Although she died once, her body is still that of a mortal, so she is still considered a mortal,” Wang Xiaoxia explained in a low voice.

She glanced at Cang Ze indifferently, smiled faintly, and was as polite as if she were meeting him for the first time in her life.

Cang Ze responded with a faint smile, but his gaze never left that face for even a moment.

"So he was just a mortal," Mu He murmured.

Since she was just a mortal, she posed no threat, so Mu He felt relieved and stopped paying special attention to her.

"We have heard that Your Majesty and Princess will soon be getting married. As envoys of Wangyue Pavilion, we have been entrusted by Your Majesty and should share your burdens. Important matters such as the cold meal should be handled as soon as possible. We hope Your Majesty and Princess will forgive us," Wang Xiaoxia said, bowing his head and pleading for forgiveness. His tone was calm and without the slightest ripple.

Her gaze remained lowered, conveying a perfectly balanced indifference and detachment.

Cang Ze's gaze gradually dimmed, as if he had made up his mind to give up something.

"Very well, if that's how it is, then you may leave!" Cang Ze said coldly, showing no intention of lingering.

"Yes, Your Majesty, Wu Huan, let's go!" Wang Xiaoxia said in a low voice, then turned and left without looking back.

The word "Wu Huan" pierced Cang Ze's heart like a long needle, yet he remained expressionless as he watched that familiar figure leave him once again.

"Yes, my lady!" the Bad Guy replied loudly on purpose, giving Cang Ze a provocative look before leaving with Wang Xiaoxia with a grin.

Even though he walked very fast, it still took him some effort to catch up with Wang Xiaoxia. His slender body was weighed down by some emotion, and he walked as if he were a fierce wild bull.
