wide awake
When Muhe was brought back, she was still unconscious. Cangze carried her all the way from the Northern Border. He gently placed her on the bed. Although the wound on her chest had healed, the bloodstains all over her body had not been cleaned. When Aohen saw that Muhe was injured like this, he immediately became anxious and hurriedly summoned a doctor to come and see her. While waiting, he looked at Cangze and couldn't help but feel a little dissatisfied.
"How could you two be injured while you were both in Muhe?" he asked in a low voice.
As he spoke, he couldn't help but look at Muhe. This child had been pampered since childhood and had never been injured. This trip had almost cost him his life, which inevitably made him, as her father, feel heartbroken.
"It's Xiao Xu's fault. He was under a spell while searching for Wu Yan and accidentally injured Mu He," Cang Ze said with a pained expression, kneeling honestly on the ground and letting Ao punish him severely.
He knew that Muhe was Aohen's most beloved daughter, and only sincerity could move Aohen at this moment.
Aohen stared at him in silence for a long time. Although the Wuyan was not a sharp weapon, it was still an ancient artifact, protected by ancient power. It was not easy to take it. Muhe had the lowest cultivation level, so it was inevitable that she would be injured.
"If that's the case, then has Wuyan succeeded?" Aohen asked rhetorically.
"It's lost," Cang Ze replied weakly, lowering his head.
"Lost? How could it be lost?" Ao fiercely stood up and shouted.
He finally got Wu Yan, who almost cost his daughter her life, and now he just lost her like that?
"Father, please don't be angry. It was because Lord Cangze was so eager to save Muhe that he used his body to refine the Ice Silkworm Crystal. The Qingyi clan took the opportunity to transform into Muhe's appearance and steal the Faceless Soul from Lord Cangze's body," Cui Heng hurriedly explained from the side.
Upon hearing this, Aohen's anger subsided somewhat. The Qingyi clan's transformation techniques were truly formidable; otherwise, they wouldn't have been unable to defeat them after such a long siege. Thinking of this, his expression gradually calmed down, and he said:
"It's good that you two love each other so much, so let shame be what it is! Have you retrieved the mermaid pearl yet?"
"Please take a look, Father," Cui Heng hurriedly took out the mermaid pearl from his bosom and handed it to Aohen.
Only then did Aohen nod in satisfaction at Cui Heng and say:
"You haven't entirely failed in your mission," he said, then turned to Cang Ze kneeling beside him.
"Get up! You are also a ruler of a realm, you shouldn't be kneeling before me."
Cang Ze then stood up, his voice tinged with flattery:
"Although he is the ruler, he is also the father's son-in-law, so it is only reasonable for the child to kneel before his father."
Aohen then smiled, forgetting all the unpleasantness of the past few days.
Before long, the physician arrived and carefully examined Mu He, then looked at Ao Hen and replied:
"The princess was treated in time and her life is no longer in danger. However, because her heart meridian was damaged, she needs to rest for a while. She lost too much blood, so she should eat more blood-nourishing foods."
Hearing the doctor say that, Aohen felt relieved and sat by the bed, gently stroking Muhe's hand.
"Alright, go and prescribe the medicine!" Aohen said to the physician, and only after the physician left did he look at Cangze and the other two and say:
"Since Muhe is alright, you two should stay here and take good care of her. I'll go check on the Queen and come back later."
"Yes," Cang Ze and Cui Heng replied in unison.
Aohen still missed Wang Xiaoxia. Having obtained the Mermaid Pearl, he rushed to visit her. Just as he opened the door, the Bad Guys had already returned.
The man from Bad Guys, who was guarding the bedside, suddenly realized that the fierce beast had arrived. He hurriedly stepped forward and bowed, saying, "Your Majesty!"
"How is the Queen?" Ao asked fiercely, then hurriedly walked to the bedside.
"I drank some water this morning and just went back to sleep," the Bad Guy said respectfully, following behind the fierce-looking man.
Aohen didn't ask any more questions. He walked to the bedside and quickly placed the mermaid pearl in his palm, gently sweeping it over Wang Xiaoxia's body. Spiritual energy flowed from his palm, passing through the snow-white mermaid pearl and into Wang Xiaoxia's body. Suddenly, a faint bloody light appeared on her body, which gradually disappeared. Wang Xiaoxia coughed lightly and woke up from her dream.
"Husband?" Wang Xiaoxia called out, feigning weakness as she lay on the bed.
She hadn't slept all night, and now she looked rather haggard due to lack of sleep.
When Aohen saw that she had finally woken up, he was immediately overjoyed. He quickly sat down by the bed and took Wang Xiaoxia's hand in his own.
"Lian'er, you're finally awake! You don't know how worried I was that you've been unconscious for the past two days," Ao Hen said happily, his rough hands constantly stroking Wang Xiaoxia's delicate hands.
"I have caused my husband worry these past few days; it is my fault," Wang Xiaoxia said tenderly, reaching out to gently stroke Ao Hen's face.
His face was bluish, and his brows revealed a fierce look. Why was Cui Heng so handsome among all the horned monsters? Wang Xiaoxia couldn't help but wonder.
Aohen had no idea what Wang Xiaoxia was thinking. He obediently rested his face in her warm hands, a smile on his face, and said:
"Lian'er, you don't know, but you've been feeling cold these past two days. Now that your hands are so warm, I think your injury has healed."
"I am fine, but I am still a little weak," Wang Xiaoxia said gently.
"Then Lian'er, rest quickly. I'll have the doctor come over later. I was so happy to see you awake that I ended up talking a bit too much and forgot about your weak spiritual energy and frail body," Aohen said hurriedly, his face full of concern.
Wang Xiaoxia shook his head and said:
"I'm overjoyed that my husband is willing to talk to me!"
Aohen was even happier by Wang Xiaoxia's coaxing. There were many women in the demon and ghost realms, some of whom were unreasonable and others were dissolute. So, for many years, Aohen had never been interested in any woman. Muhe's mother was from a military family and had a heroic air about her, while Wang Xiaoxia was gentle and tender, making up for the tenderness that Aohen had never experienced in his life.
However, although Aohen liked to stay by Wang Xiaoxia's side, he still missed Muhe in his heart, and his brows furrowed without him realizing it.
Seeing his tense expression, Wang Xiaoxia straightened up slightly, placed her hand on his brow and gently stroked it, asking with concern:
"Why is my husband so worried?"
Aohen quickly came to his senses and gently pulled Wang Xiaoxia into his arms, saying:
"Madam is so thoughtful. It's Muhe. Madam didn't know that Muhe was injured two days ago while going to the Northern Border to find the Mermaid Pearl for you, and is still unconscious!"
Wang Xiaoxia immediately looked at him with a pained expression and said anxiously:
"How could this be? It is I who have implicated Princess Muhe. What should we do?"
Ao patted Wang Xiaoxia's shoulder gently, then kissed her head tenderly and said:
"The doctor has examined him. His life is not in danger, but his injuries are too severe and he will need to rest for some time."
"Then my husband, please take me to see the princess. If anything happens to the princess, I'm afraid I'll never be able to forgive myself for the rest of my life," Wang Xiaoxia said, struggling to get up. Before she could even lift the blanket, she coughed a few times and weakly used her arms to support herself so that she wouldn't fall down.
The man from the Bad Guys watched, his eyes nearly popping out of their sockets. Wang Xiaoxia was putting on an act so well that he would have almost believed her if he hadn't just witnessed her lively and energetic demeanor. It seemed that Wang Yue had taught her quite a few skills this past year. But then he put on a pained expression. He knew that Wang Xiaoxia wasn't naturally the type to fawn over others, and this was a helpless act.
Ao Hen hurriedly hugged Wang Xiaoxia tightly, anxiously comforting her:
"Lian'er, don't worry. Muhe is fine. She'll be alright after a few days of rest. You're carrying a baby, so you must take good care of yourself."
After hearing Aohen tell the truth, Wang Xiaoxia stopped pretending and obediently lay down on the bed again, saying:
"But I am really worried. Husband, please go and take care of the princess. If anything happens to the princess, I will be guilty even if I die."
Aohen suddenly regretted his words. He shouldn't have spoken so harshly about Muhe's matter. His wife's kind heart had made her feel guilty. Helpless, he could only release Wang Xiaoxia, gently stroking her belly with a reluctant expression. The fetus was still too small to sense anything. He looked at her and said:
“Very well, Madam. I will go visit Muhe now and come to visit you again later.”
Wang Xiaoxia obediently nodded and said:
"My husband, please go and take care of the princess!"
Only then did Aohen reluctantly leave.
The Bad Guy breathed a sigh of relief after watching Aohun disappear from sight, but seeing Wang Xiaoxia's unhappy expression, he quickly went to her bedside and teased her deliberately:
"I never knew you had such abilities!"
Wang Xiaoxia, however, kept a straight face. Everything that had just happened made her nauseous. She sat up and said to the bad guys:
“If he doesn’t leave soon, I’m going to throw up. Go and have the maid change my bedding. I want to take a bath.”
As she spoke, she looked exhausted. The man looked at her with pity and couldn't help but sigh.
“Okay, I’ll take care of it right away. Don’t make things too hard on yourself,” said the Bad Guy.
Wang Xiaoxia could only nod wearily.
Muhe felt as if she were having a dream. In the nightmare, she wanted to move but couldn't, wanted to scream but couldn't make a sound. Finally, she struggled for an unknown amount of time before waking up from the dream. She suddenly opened her eyes, her chest heaving violently.
"He'er! You're finally awake!" Aohen, who had been guarding the bedside, was overjoyed to see Muhe awake.
"Father? Where is this?" Muhe asked, looking at her father with a blank expression. She looked around in a daze and realized that she had returned to the Demon King's Palace.
"How did I get back?" she murmured.
"It's good that you're awake. You and Ze'er went to find Wuyan, and you were injured by the illusion. Do you remember all of that?" Aohen asked gently in a low voice, with a kind father's smile on his face.
Mu He nodded, recalling her memories. She remembered that she was about to kiss her brother, but his face suddenly turned into Cang Ze's, and she felt a sharp pain in her chest. She fainted. Her brother?
"Father, where is my brother?" Muhe suddenly remembered something and grabbed Aohen's arm tightly, asking hurriedly.
Aohen was puzzled by her behavior. Although Muhe usually relied on Cui Heng, she would never be so out of control as she was today.
"Heng'er is going to rest. Ze'er will go and make your medicine and come back in a little while," Aohen hurriedly comforted him.
Muhe nodded. Fortunately, her brother had returned and hadn't gone with that witch.
"What about that demoness?" Mu He asked immediately afterward.
