Chapter 80: Dark and Windy Night of Murder

“Knock, knock, knock!”

"Who?"

"It's me, Xue Jiuyao. I need your help with something."

Xue Jiuyao's tone was a little respectful, just like any normal person asking someone for help.

Immediately afterwards, he heard Zi Sui's response coming from the room.

"The door is not locked, just push it open and come in."

Xue Jiuyao went in as he was told, with the same cold and calm expression he usually wore when he was with Yue Jian.

He didn't waste any time and went straight to the point with his request: "Could you please switch shifts with me?"

"Something happened to my relatives. I have to leave Yuebaiting for a while. I won't be back until at least tomorrow at noon."

"Ah...night shift," Zi Sui said, showing just the right amount of reluctance. "Have you asked your boss?"

"Well, the boss said, if you can accept it, then change it."

Tears welled up in Xue Jiuyao's eyes, and he spoke faster, making his pronunciation a little unclear and choked.

"Please, as a reward, I will give you my wages for today and tomorrow."

There was a hint of greed in Zi Sui's eyes, which disappeared when his eyes deliberately met Xue Jiuyao's.

He nodded, deliberately raising his voice slightly, "Really? Fine then! I'll trade with you!"

Then there was a round of mutual compliments and polite words, such as "thank you very much" and "you're welcome" one after another.

After a while, Xue Jiuyao, who needed to maintain the image of being "in a hurry", finally spoke up and interrupted the confusing polite conversation.

"Mr. Yue Jian, I need to report to the boss again. When I'm done, I'll treat you to a nice meal."

"Okay, I'm looking forward to it," Zi Sui's tone was inexplicably sincere, "You go ahead and get busy."

He obviously didn't want to continue these meaningless topics.

He decisively saw the guest out, then closed and locked the door of the room in one go.

Now, the appetizers are over and we just have to wait for night to fall.

Yuebaiting at night is not as brightly lit as large cities such as Qiongfang City and Chen City.

Because Yuebaiting did not install street lights on both sides of the road.

Even if there is a mineral vein, it is not displayed openly after all.

In fact, he still belongs to an underdeveloped area, and mediocrity and inconspicuousness are his main theme and protective color.

However, Yuebaiting is not extremely dark.

The Moon White Rock, which can be seen everywhere in the city buildings, emits strands of soft white light after dark.

The inconspicuous glow during the day will gather into a soft nebula at night, enveloping this riverside city.

The white light was only dotted across the town, and the most eye-catching thing was the pier on the riverside that was almost entirely built of moon-white rock.

The ground paved with Yuebai Rock and the pillars carved from Yuebai Rock are quite conspicuous at night.

Not to mention the dreamy sight created by the light filtering through the glazed tile roof.

When Zi Sui stepped onto the dock, he looked up and saw the glazed dome that became extremely gorgeous under the refraction of light.

However, no matter how beautiful the dock's ceiling was, the workers were too lazy to look at it anymore.

I've been working here for years and seeing the same scenery every day, so I've gotten used to it.

Workers in groups of three or four are still counting the goods in the temporary warehouse.

One of them raised his head to relieve the pain caused by bowing his head for a long time.

And out of the corner of his eye, he just happened to catch a glimpse of Zi Sui walking towards him.

"Good evening, Mr. Yue Jian."

As his greeting prompted, the workers around him also began to greet politely.

"Okay," Zi Sui interrupted them, "Hurry up and go back to rest when you're done."

"Okay, thank you, Mr. Yue Jian."

"We're wrapping up here, and it will be over soon."

After a moment, Zi Sui watched the workers close the list of all the goods, put the goods away one by one, and seal the boxes.

Then the numerous cargo boxes were placed in order at the designated location.

Only after completing all this can the workers go home from get off work.

They said hello to "Mr. Yue Jian" and left, leaving only Zi Sui to look after the goods.

Silence began to spread in the cloudy night, and the soft glow of the sun could only provide insignificant comfort.

It was a dark and windy night, a time for murder and arson.

The outsiders have left, so when are they going to take action?

Zi Sui jumped onto the top of the cargo box. He sat casually with one leg propped up, playing with the flesh and blood crystal in his hand out of boredom.

"call--"

The cold river breeze blew at night, lifting the ends of the wild black hair.

The next moment, something strange happened!

The entire dock suddenly became dark, and an arrow came rushing towards him with the wind, aiming directly at the back of Zi Sui's head!

“clang!”

A black long sword replaced the bright red crystal and suddenly appeared in Zi Sui's hand.

He swung his knife backwards, and the arrow that was close to him was instantly knocked away.

“Chi!”

The sharp arrow that was knocked away by the sideways attack pierced the darkened moon-white rock floor nearby.

The moment Zisui's gaze turned to the direction of the arrow, the end of the arrow suddenly exploded.

With a slight crisp sound - "Boom!", billowing smoke instantly enveloped Zisui.

A black shadow appeared at this moment!

He rushed into the fog that blocked his vision at lightning speed, like a fish in water in the dark environment.

The matte clothing and weapons combined with his superb skills made him blend into the dark mist.

Zi Sui did not open his eyes. He was not sure whether the other party could see in the fog or had some other tricks.
