25. Going the Wrong Way

25. Going the Wrong Way

Ever since this bizarre and humiliating incident, Vivian's mood had sunk to rock bottom. During the day, she had to keep herself together, pretending nothing had happened, and playing her professional role. But when she was alone, her face drooped and she became overwhelmed with worry.

It wasn't all about the money. While a six-figure loss was painful, the humiliation was worse, and I had no one to share it with.

Including Chen Chen, with whom she could talk about anything. Vivian was determined to keep all the details of the Qiu Fang incident deep in her heart. She wished so much that none of this had happened. Even if she foolishly suffered ten emotional wounds in ordinary relationships, it would be much better than this constant self-humiliation.

She hopes she can still be that pure love warrior.

Her mind was in great confusion now.

In fact, even if Qiu Fang didn't have her, there were still many other people around him. Even Mrs. Qiu's concern wasn't about her husband's infidelity, but the fact that if things continued like this, they would probably spend too much of their joint property.

In everyone's consideration, the word "emotion" does not even exist.

She is not the only one with flawed morals.

She told herself there was no need to blame herself. But she had never experienced such humiliation in her life. Even in her dreams at night, she felt so embarrassed that she wanted to scream out loud, and she couldn't face the questioning in her heart.

It didn't take long for Qiu Fang's affair to spread. While there were plenty of scandals in this industry, it was rare for a wife to personally cause such a stir. Onlookers were simply watching the spectacle, fearing it wouldn't get any worse.

Qiu Fang disappeared from his social circle and public appearances. The stories about him grew increasingly outrageous, leaving only fragments of his story, some of which were difficult to discern, for people to chew over and over at dinner parties.

The life lesson for Vivian is: never become the subject of gossip. It's terrible. Gossip has the tenacity of a cockroach, lingering for years, constantly discussed in social circles, even revisited, and eventually morphed into something you can't even recognize.

Fortunately, Vivian kept her mouth shut about this matter and never revealed anything to anyone, thus avoiding it from becoming part of the gossip. Furthermore, she had to convince herself that it had never happened. Only in this way could she wash away the humiliation.

But for weeks, she felt so down that she feared she might slip into depression. Her colleagues often invited her to dinner after work, but she always found excuses to decline, returning to her tiny apartment early. But now it was filled with terrible memories, a reminder of her past mistakes, her greed, and her foolishness. She had already paid six months' rent, so what could she do? She simply stared blankly at the gradually brightening neon lights in the twilight.

Weiweian was in a bad mood. She hadn't seen Feng Simiao for a long time. Feng Simiao was very unhappy and insisted on asking her out, emphasizing that it was her boyfriend Lin Tyang who invited her. This way, she couldn't refuse again.

They met at a karaoke bar near Yintai, a truly old-fashioned get-together. Vivian hadn't been to a karaoke bar in at least two years. She guessed it was Feng Simiao's idea. Feng Simiao loved singing and also loved being the center of attention.

She finished her work and rushed over. Pushing open the door, she found herself in the music room. Sitting next to Feng Simiao and Lin Yang was a man she didn't recognize. Vivian greeted them, and Lin Yang introduced her to the young man with the retro, slicked-back hair, saying he was the vice president of his company.

Vivian exchanged a few pleasantries with the other party and said nothing more.

Feng Simiao saw that her face was a little stiff, so he came over and said, "We didn't mean any other things. We just happened to be in a meeting together, so we asked him to come along. It's a good song, and more people will make it more lively."

"Please stop trying to match me up, please. Just be happy on your own." Vivian put her arm around Feng Simiao's shoulders and squeezed them hard, causing her to cry out in pain. "Okay, okay, just sit with me and ignore everyone else."

Just as I sat down, the door opened and Eric walked in.

Weiwei and Feng Simiao were sitting in front of the screen choosing songs. When they saw him walk in, they froze for a moment. Feng Simiao whispered, "Lao Lin just asked a question and he came. Actually, I hadn't planned to invite him to come."

Ever since what happened with Yang Ziqi, Feng Simiao obviously disliked Eric less.

Feng Simiao is indeed an innocent person. He never needs to lower himself to get anything, and naturally despises anyone who does so.

Lin Yang asked Eric to sit next to him. Vivian nodded to him without saying anything.

Feng Simiao deliberately asked him: "Didn't Ziqi come with you?"

Lin Yang didn't wait for Eric to speak and answered directly: "I originally asked Ziqi to come with me, but she said her father was coming to Beijing and had plans in the evening, so she might not be able to make it."

At this time, Feng Simiao had already clicked on a screen of Faye Wong's songs and shouted, "Vivian, the other microphone is right next to you, come with me."

Vivian waved her hand and let her sing a solo first and enjoy the praise.

She was used to doing this. Even though Feng Simiao and Lin Yang were there at the table hoping to match her up with someone, and even though the singing and music were melodious, Vivian still couldn't escape the bad mood that lingered in her heart.

"I see you're not in a good mood?" The phone screen flashed and Vivian received his message.

This was stupid, if you looked at it from a different perspective. They had exchanged secrets like this before, in the presence of Feng Simiao and Lin Yang, but the circumstances were completely different then. Neither knew the other's background, so it could still be considered a little fun. Now, after all, they had dined and drank together, sitting in the same private room. Why was he so cold, acting like he didn't know anyone at all?

Something must be wrong when things are out of the ordinary. Feng Simiao, who had been singing happily nearby, saw it all.

"Nothing. Work." Vivian replied to him.

"Can we talk after this?"

Vivian read the message, gently turned the phone over, and didn't answer.

When they were alone, they could be old acquaintances or ordinary friends. But doing it in public would be like having an affair, so why bother?

After Feng Simiao finished singing three songs, he came over to sit next to Weiweian and clinked beers with her. The two chatted so much that they even dragged her along to the bathroom. Weiweian felt a little relieved, so she cheered up and told Feng Simiao the story of Yang Ziqi accusing her as a joke.

"It's amazing! How did her parents raise her? She's really stupid," Feng Simiao said with disdain. "She's probably really stupid. I heard she was planning to give some money to her boyfriend for investment. I told Lao Lin to take advantage of this opportunity and get some money back."

"That's great. She has money anyway, so it doesn't matter who she gives it to. Supporting her boyfriend, isn't that the best of both worlds?"

"What does she know? Anyway, Old Lin was a little regretful before, but he was too embarrassed to break up. Now, it's just right. Sister Yang fell from the sky, and she foolishly just wants to please men. Let me tell you, if a woman supports a man, there will be no good ending."

Vivian laughed: "You are so young, why are you so emotional?"

"It's true. If you don't believe me, just wait and see. I also told Lao Lin that making friends should be simple. Just play games and eat together. Don't mix money into it, otherwise no one will be happy in the end."

"Yang Ziqi seems... to really love him." Vivian blurted out.

Feng Simiao sneered, "Sister, you can't be so naive, right? A girl from a family like hers doesn't care about love. If she likes someone, then of course she likes him. With her situation, there's no need for her to force herself to be with someone she doesn't like. But love really isn't that important."

"Why do you say that?"

"She's just spoiled. She's still young anyway, so she should enjoy the other person first. It doesn't matter if the relationship ends in nothing after a few years. As for marriage... it's still too early. Believe it or not, her father will definitely find a way to arrange it. This kind of family must be well-matched and have complementary resources." Feng Simiao smiled brightly, "Of course, Lao Lin and I are different."

"Of course, there are only a few couples in the world like you, childhood sweethearts, unparalleled in the world."

"Why are you mocking me?" Feng Simiao curled his lips. "I bet you, they can't get married."

"I don't gamble, it's childish."

"Come on, let's bet on TRB, wanna?"
