Minghui was stunned for a moment, then thought of the things in the cardboard box and nodded, "Is this box yours?"
"No." Xiao Yi shook his head, then smiled at Minghui, revealing eight white teeth: "It belongs to someone else."
"Is that so..." Minghui was so frightened by his laughter that he looked away awkwardly and laughed dryly.
"Where are you going?" Xiao Yi seemed to be completely oblivious to his discomfort and took a step forward.
Minghui looked at his movements and subconsciously took a step back, but quickly withdrew it embarrassedly, thinking that he had overreacted. The child probably also found him confusing.
"No, brother just couldn't sleep so he got up to take a look." He looked at Xiao Yi. The boy's entire face was shrouded in shadow, with his eyelashes drooping, making it difficult to tell what his mood was.
"Brother, do you want to go out for a walk?" Xiao Yi asked.
Minghui thought he wanted to take him out to play, so he thought it was a good idea to take the child out to relax, so he nodded.
After getting this answer, Xiao Yi once again gave him his standard eight-toothed smile. Ming Hui rubbed his arms and said, "Let's go."
Minghui walked in front, Xiaoyi followed behind him. When they were out of the door, Minghui realized why the child walked so quietly. He turned around and noticed that Xiaoyi was not wearing shoes.
"Why aren't you wearing shoes?" Minghui frowned and looked at his bare feet, which were just stepping on the floor.
"We'll be discovered." Xiao Yi tilted his head. Minghui heard a 'click' and trembled all over.
A bit weird.
His expression turned serious, and he said to Xiao Yi, "Stop messing around and put your shoes on."
"..." Xiao Yi looked at him for a long while, then replied faintly, "Okay."
He turned around and opened the door, his movements not gentle at all. Minghui was startled, fearing that the noise of opening the door would wake up the other children.
But obviously, his worries were unnecessary, because the children were already... awake.
Pairs of distinct black and white eyes stared straight at him, and Minghui was frightened and didn't move immediately. His black pupils reflected the faces of these children, and only then did he realize that they were all wearing the same pure white pajamas.
“He saw it.”
"He saw it all."
“He saw it.”
“He saw it.”
The children's voices were not loud, but Minghui could hear them very clearly. His eyes fell on the only person still lying in bed.
"Qian Xingxing!" he shouted.
Suddenly, all the children turned to look in the direction of Qian Xingxing.
"Ah——" A heavy gasp sounded in the room. Qian Xingxing's body moved, and then he slowly stood up from the bed.
Minghui's breathing became rapid, and he called out anxiously, "Qian Xingxing!"
But the next moment, Qian Xingxing's head on the bed turned 180 degrees. He kept his back to Minghui, but his face was facing him.
Qian Xingxing grinned, "You saw it, you saw it all."
Minghui looked at Qian Xingxing's strange appearance in shock. His entire eyeballs were black, and when he spoke, Minghui could see that his entire mouth was also black.
"You saw it!" Qian Xingxing shouted, as if she was irritated. Immediately, the children in the lower position lay down on the bed, and the children in the upper position jumped to the ground with their limbs facing down like toads.
“He saw it.”
"He saw it all."
Children's limbs are as soft as boneless, so they do not have a fixed posture when walking. Their hands and feet are folded randomly, and it is more like crawling than walking.
Seeing this, Minghui ran away, but just like in a horror movie, he couldn't open the doors and windows of the orphanage and had no way to escape.
In desperation, he could only choose to run inside and hid in a room with an open door in a panic.
He slammed the door shut with a bang, shaking his head with lingering fear. What the hell was going on?! How could the world be like this after I woke up?!
After calming his breathing and not hearing any sound outside, Minghui swallowed and turned his attention to this room.
"This is..." He looked at the room filled with red light in shock, and suddenly realized which room he had entered!
But how could he get in?! When would this door be opened?!
Minghui felt that his mind was in a mess. All sorts of messy things flashed through his mind, making it difficult for him to tell which was real and which was false.
He looked at the room, the red light making every surface of it look like it was painted with blood.
But the most eye-catching thing was the shrine nailed to the wall. Minghui walked closer and saw that there were things on it, but because of the height, he couldn't see it clearly.
He brought the red ladder against the wall, opened it and placed it in front of the shrine, then climbed up slowly.
The golden statue was sparkling with colorful lights under the red light, as if the gods had appeared.
The statue's face was covered with a mask. Minghui licked his lips, not deciding whether to take it off, so he simply looked at other things in the shrine.
But there didn't seem to be anything special about the other things, except...
He looked at the pile of incense ash in the incense burner. It seemed to be divided into two layers. So he reached out and fiddled with it. Sure enough, under the upper layer of gray incense ash, there was another layer of "incense ash" with a faint white hue.
Mustering up courage, he pulled out a few burning incense sticks from the incense burner and glanced at the statue. The eyes behind the mask seemed to be staring at him, causing Minghui to pause for a moment.
