Chapter 211 Dead

Qiao Yan held the door open and answered whatever the police asked. It wasn't until they put away their pen and notebook that she turned around and asked, "Excuse me, what happened?"

"Yes, the resident of Room 403 was found dead at home. The body has been sent for examination. We are now conducting routine inquiries with the surrounding residents. Don't worry."

"Dead?" Qiao Yan's eyes widened. "When did he die?!"

Seeing her reaction, the two police officers looked at each other and said, "It is roughly estimated that she has been dead for more than 24 hours. The specific time and circumstances need to wait for the autopsy report."

"More than... 24 hours?" Qiao Yan murmured, then looked at the policeman: "Excuse me, can I ask again, was he, was he playing the erhu when he died?"

"He was indeed holding a erhu in his hand. Do you have any clues to provide?" After another eye contact, the police officer standing in the front asked.

"I heard him playing the erhu this afternoon." Qiao Yan's face turned pale, and she clasped the door tightly with both hands, her fingertips turning white.

"Are you sure you heard correctly?"

"I'm sure the erhu music didn't stop before I fell asleep."

The policeman adjusted his hat and said to her, "Could you please come with us to room 404?"

[No, so Grandpa Lu... died a long time ago?]

[This must be fake! Three people heard the erhu music this afternoon!]

[I don't want to watch it anymore. This instance seems normal, but it gives me an indescribable feeling. I feel a little uncomfortable.]

[Me too, especially after just experiencing the host's sleep from a first-person perspective. I feel like vomiting and feel very uncomfortable.]

Several people left the live broadcast room one after another, but more people insisted on staying because they really wanted to see the end of this copy.

Qiao Yan didn't know what this matter had to do with Room 404, but she knew that Chen Meng lived in Room 404.

Maybe it was because Chen Meng and he heard the sound of erhu together in the afternoon?

Seeing the two policemen again, Chen Meng sniffed. Her eyes were still red, and there were some remaining tears on her eyelashes that had not been wiped away.

"I'm sorry to bother you again, Ms. Chen."

"It's okay. Is there anything else you want to ask?" Chen Meng shook his head and simply closed the door and walked out. Only then did he see Qiao Yan who was blocked by two policemen.

"Is it because of the sound of the erhu?" She immediately guessed the purpose of the police's return.

"Yes." A policeman nodded, and his notebook was pulled out again. "Because you all claimed to have heard the erhu in the afternoon."

"We just heard it." Qiao Yan said, looking at Chen Meng, who nodded in confirmation.

The police wanted to ask something else when his cell phone rang at the right moment, just like some classic scenes in movies, Chen Mengxiang.

After a low, evasive phone call ended, the police officer turned back to the two of them and said, "My colleague has confirmed with Master Yu, and he also heard the erhu sound at the time."

"I'll tell you! I really wasn't hallucinating!" Chen Meng clapped her hands. "So when you told me someone called the police to report that the resident of Room 403 had died, I was so scared!"

Qiao Yan nodded and asked the police, "Excuse me, sir, can we know who called the police?"

There was nothing to hide. The policeman nodded and said, "The person who called the police was Ms. Liu. You should all know her."

Aunt Liu?

Qiao Yan was a little confused, "Why is Aunt Liu here?"

"According to Ms. Liu, her son contacted her and said he had not received rent from Mr. Lu this month. As of now, he has been in arrears for four months, so she came to collect the rent."

"I didn't expect to smell a foul odor as soon as I got to the door. No one in the house responded, so I took out the spare key to open the door."

"According to her, Mr. Lu, as an elderly man living alone, rarely communicates with others, but Ms. Liu has a good relationship with him and sometimes comes to visit and take care of him, so Mr. Lu gave her the spare key to his home."

"After opening the door, Ms. Liu discovered that Mr. Lu was dead and subsequently called the police."

Chen Meng and Qiao Yan listened to what the police said and thought that Aunt Liu must have been scared to death at that time.

So Chen Meng asked, "Excuse me, where is Aunt Liu now?"

"Ms Liu is now being taken to the hospital for treatment by our civilian staff due to feeling unwell."

The two nodded, answered some more questions from the police, and then watched them leave.

Qiao Yan looked at the open door of room 403 and the cordon at the door. Although it was inclined to be a natural death, the relevant personnel still needed to collect evidence in the house.

"Are you going to my house?" Chen Meng asked her in a low voice. Perhaps because of what she had experienced today, her face did not look too good.

Qiao Yan nodded, and then walked through the door of 403 with her.

She took a quick and cursory glance and found a small wooden chair with a backrest placed in the entrance hall, facing the door.

There were no lights on in the house and the curtains were drawn. Only staff members wearing special clothes were lying on the ground and using special flashlights to carefully examine everything inside.

With just one glance, Qiao Yan followed Chen Meng into her home.

"Would you like some tea?" Chen Meng asked her, taking out a pair of blue guest slippers from the shoe cabinet.

After changing her shoes, Qiao Yan sat down on the small sofa in her living room, while Chen Meng went into the kitchen to make tea.

This is a very cozy little home, Qiao Yan thought, at least judging from the color of the decoration, it is very cozy.
