Xie Quan straightened his back. "The cordon outside is well-placed and the seals are intact, so the police are checking inside to see if the theft could have been done from somewhere else."
Qiao Yan nodded to show that she understood, and then asked him if he was going to go to work part-time.
Xie Quan shook his head. The bakery operates on a shift system and it was his turn to rest today.
"Do you want to go get breakfast? Come with me, I know a place that makes delicious dumplings."
To get good dumplings, you have to walk through that familiar alley. It feels okay to walk here during the day, Qiao Yan and Xie Quan were talking.
"Did the police mention the cause of Grandpa Lu's death?"
Xie Quan shook his head. "I don't know, but I was there and heard someone say it seemed like a natural death. The police were planning to come over to wrap up the case, but they didn't expect the chair to disappear."
"It's really hard work." Qiao Yan sighed, and then saw the small iron gate in front of her opened. Aunt Liu walked out from inside, holding a mobile phone in her hand, looking tired.
"Aunt Liu."
The two called her, and she looked over and forced a faint smile: "It's you guys. I've been a little busy these past few days. Are you all right?"
"Not bad." Qiao Yan nodded, "You look very tired."
Aunt Liu waved her hand and sighed, "My old man is not in good health. He caught a fever in the evening yesterday. I didn't sleep all night. The police just called again to say that Old Lu's house was robbed. I have to go over there now."
As she spoke, she sighed again: "If I had known earlier, I wouldn't have saved that little money and installed a few surveillance cameras, and there wouldn't be so much trouble."
Aunt Liu's departing figure looked very heavy. Qiao Yan and Xie Quan watched her walk away, and continued on their way in silence.
Because of the alley's location, sunlight couldn't penetrate deeply, and Qiao Yan felt a little cold as she walked.
But fortunately, it is within the range of tolerance.
"Has anyone ever died in our building before?" she asked Xie Quan.
The other party shook his head: "I haven't heard of it."
"I looked at the notice board yesterday and it said people should be careful of suspicious people."
"It seems to be the case." Xie Quan thought for a moment, "But that notice has been out for a while, right? No one has seen any suspicious people since then, so there's no need to worry too much."
Is that so? Qiao Yan blinked. Is it really safe?
The dumpling restaurant is small, but very clean. Xie Quan was right, the dumplings are delicious.
While eating, Qiao Yan recalled the messy things that happened in the past few days, both real and dreams.
When she was thinking, she would stare at the road outside, her eyes a little distracted. Xie Quan stretched out his hand and waved it in front of her, bringing her back to her senses.
"What are you thinking about?" he asked cheerfully. Just as Qiao Yan was about to answer, she saw a black figure running past the door of the dumpling restaurant.
She stood up suddenly, and the chair made a noise as it rubbed against the ground, which scared Xie Quan.
"What's wrong?!" Before he finished chewing the dumplings in his mouth, Qiao Yan had already run out. He quickly swallowed the dumplings and wanted to follow her out, but was stopped by the shop owner.
"Don't even think about free dining!"
Xie Quan quickly explained that he didn't have any, then paid the bill and asked the boss to keep the dumplings for him. Only then was he able to get away.
Qiao Yan stopped in the alley. The black shadow ran too fast. When she chased it out, the other party had quickly disappeared at the alley entrance.
Xie Quan rushed over and patted her on the back: "What happened?"
Qiao Yan turned her head and bit her lip: "I saw a sneaky man dressed in black."
Xie Quan's eyes widened immediately: "Could it be that the suspicious person mentioned in the notice has returned?!"
"It's possible." Qiao Yan nodded.
"Then be careful. I'll tell the security guard later."
In the end, the two of them went back to the dumpling restaurant and finished their food, after all, they had already paid.
When they returned to the community, there was no longer a crowd of people upstairs, and the door of Room 403 was closed again.
Qiao Yan felt a headache, and Xie Quan said he would go get her some medicine from home and asked her to go back and wait.
Holding her head down, Qiao Yan walked towards her home. She happened to see the door of Room 401 open and a woman came out with a child.
"Hello." Mrs. Zhang greeted her with a smile. She looked in good spirits. The little girl also greeted Qiao Yan with a smile.
"Good morning." She replied and asked, "Want to go out and play?"
"Just take a walk downstairs." Mrs. Zhang shook her head. Seeing that she looked unhappy, she asked a few more questions, and Qiao Yan explained that she had a headache.
"I have medicine at home, I'll get it for you!"
"It's okay, no need to bother."
"It's not a trouble. How can there be any trouble? Just wait." Mrs. Zhang's attitude was a bit tough. The little girl came over with a smile, took Qiao Yan's hand and shook it.
"Sister, just wait a moment. Mom said you should be helpful!"
The child spoke softly, and Qiao Yan had no way of refusing.
Madam Zhang quickly brought her some medicine, along with two fever-reducing patches. She then reached out a hand and placed it on Qiao Yan's forehead, frowning, "It's a low-grade fever. I guessed that."
She didn't notice Qiao Yan's stiff body. Just when Mrs. Zhang leaned over, Qiao Yan froze completely.
Because she suddenly realized that Mrs. Zhang's figure was too similar to the figure in white mourning clothes in her dream last night...
Those hands, except that they were not stiff and cold, when they covered her forehead, she could feel that the size of the hands seemed to be about the same as last night...
Also, the calluses on the fingers are the same.
