The books published by adventurers always record their thrilling stories of escaping death, and there are many magical creatures among them.
There's a nine-headed water monster living in a lake in a desert oasis, and there's a female demon who kills countless girls for their blood in order to maintain eternal youth...
But the most popular and popular legend is the one about the siren.
In the earliest version, the siren has a human head and a bird's body. It spreads its wings and flies above the sea, as if patrolling its territory.
Sometimes it would fall into the water, and once in the water, its wings would disappear and a beautiful huge fish tail would grow out of its lower body.
When he is in the sky, he has claws that can tear people's hearts and livers; when he is in the water, he has a voice that can lure people into falling into the water.
The adventurer's song was so captivating that he and his companions jumped off the ship under the spell of the Siren's song. He was saved because one of his companions was deaf and mute.
But despite this, three people in his adventure team drowned.
Later, this story was constantly modified as the version changed, and even more stories were extended.
Because the siren's human head and bird body were ugly, people removed that part, leaving only the siren's beautiful giant fish tail. Because its sharp claws were terrifying, people only kept its beautiful singing voice.
Then, someone used the image of the sirens, who had human bodies and fish tails, to create the image of mermaids who had beautiful singing voices and were beautiful and harmless, and arranged for them to fall in love with humans. This trend was once popular in the city-state.
"Siren!"
Richard's shout brought Song Shixin back to her senses from Yingying's story. She glanced at Richard, then at the bewildered sailors, and said, "If you want to survive, leave him alone."
There are no more living people at sea.
Broken limbs and arms floated in the red sea. Some were partially eaten by monsters, while others were still intact. From a distance, they looked like a hot pot with tomato soup base.
Without a target, the monsters began to swim back.
Richard, standing at the bow, didn't even look at them, his eyes always following the shadow in the sky that frightened others.
The Siren did not need to flap her wings all the time when flying. A rare breeze blew over the calm sea, blowing her hair back and revealing her beautiful face.
It flew after the monsters, but it didn't look like it was going to land on the cruise ship.
"It wants the monster to follow him?" Yingying guessed.
"It treats them as its own kind." Song Shi thought to himself, and finally glanced at Richard, then pulled Yingying and followed the sailors into the cabin.
There were only three people left in the cabin. Seeing that their companions had returned but the captain had not, they couldn't help but feel a little confused.
"The captain has gone crazy," one of them said. After a moment of silence, someone asked, "Raise your hands if you agree that Brother Zed should be the new captain!"
Song Shi counted in his heart and found that almost everyone raised their hands, which meant that Richard's position as captain fell easily into the hands of someone else.
But this is the internal "rule" among those who drift on the sea and do shady business. Compared with complicated discussions, it is best for everyone to promote the most prestigious and experienced person as the new captain in the shortest time.
Zed had no objection. His maritime experience was indeed the most extensive here, and he had also personally conducted many transactions with Richard.
"What about the two of them?"
Someone finally noticed them, Song Shi thought, and spoke before Zed could say anything: "Actually, in this situation, there is no way for the two of us to go back."
Yingying turned to look at her, seeming to understand what she was going to say.
"If you don't mind, we can serve as service personnel on the ship." There were only sailors in the cabin, and those service personnel probably had another place to hide.
"We don't need so many waiters," Zed said.
"But you need two assistants who are good at dealing with outsiders. They should be harmless enough and have some knowledge of aristocratic etiquette. They can help open up new sales channels and attract new customers..."
Song Shixin licked his lips. What he said was against the law and morality, but facing the possibility of being thrown into the sea, these two things were completely unimportant.
Her words touched Zed a little, because he really needed helpers who could help with his 'business', which these current sailors and waiters could not do.
"We'll see how you perform after we get to the new land." Zed rolled his eyes and made a decision.
Song Shixin loosened his clenched hands behind his back, and Yingying's body was no longer so tense. Her attention was focused on the special glass of the cab.
It turned out that this group of people had watched people outside killing each other here and then jumped into the sea to try to escape.
"It's like watching a movie." Yingying whispered in Song Shixin's ear. The large glass in front of them was like a movie screen, and everything outside was the content of the movie.
Richard was still at the bow of the boat. Song Shixin saw the Siren fold its wings and fall into the water.
From the driver's seat, one could only see Richard's back, but Song Shixin knew without a doubt how enthusiastic and delighted his face would be at this moment.
Just as she guessed, Richard was staring at the dreamy figure in the water.
"I knew you really existed, and it wasn't just my illusion! No!" He held on to the railing tightly, but the cold touch of the railing didn't wake him up at all.
The moving singing sounded again, but this time the singing was completely different from the previous monster.
