The room was pitch black. Even after inserting the key card and flipping the switch, the lights remained the same, though the elevator was clearly functioning normally. Nari simply put the key card back into her pocket and used her phone to illuminate the room.
Because the bathroom was right next to the door, she pushed it open first, but there was nothing inside except a uniform aromatherapy smell.
Nari then walked back into the house.
With just one glance, she saw a human figure lying on its side on the quilt of Yang Feiyu's bed.
Nari first activated her phone's camera, confirming the figure was still visible before slowly approaching. She reached out and nudged the mass, receiving a few unintelligible movements and a humming sound.
It was Yang Feiyu's voice, and Nari felt a little happy.
She thought that after the fire broke out, Yang Feiyu had really been woken up, so she had actually brought her to this world a long time ago.
She reached out and pulled the other person's quilt down.
Yang Feiyu likes to put part of the quilt under her limbs when she sleeps, saying that it makes her sleep soundly. Now Nari can see that she is indeed sleeping soundly.
She reached out and poked the other person's face, but Yang Feiyu just tilted her head slightly, so Nari pinched her nose instead.
“Hmm…!”
This trick was quite effective. Yang Feiyu soon frowned and struggled. She was forced to breathe through her mouth for a few times, but she felt uncomfortable. So she tossed and turned like a fish that was fished ashore, and then opened her eyes in a daze.
"Ah!" As soon as she opened her eyes, she was startled by the face that was so close to her.
Nari had already loosened the hand that was pinching her nose, and with her other hand she took away the phone that was placed on her chin. Yang Feiyu glared at her: "What are you doing! You pinched me and scared me!"
The lively and familiar tone made Nari's depressed mood improve a little. She took a photo of Yang Feiyu with her mobile phone, and after confirming again that this person really existed, she grabbed the other person's hand and talked about business.
Yang Feiyu originally thought Nari was simply trying to keep a record of her "ugly photos," but after hearing what Nari said next, she wondered if her friend was stupid. "Why do I feel like you're the one who's still asleep?"
Nari knew that she couldn't easily believe what she had just said, but it didn't matter. She first took the mobile phone that Yang Feiyu had placed on the bedside and handed it to her.
Yang Feiyu gave her a strange look, then unlocked her phone at Nari's suggestion, and said in surprise, "It's already afternoon?!"
"Yeah, but you didn't hear any of your five alarms, right?"
Yang Feiyu was silent for a moment, then nodded, "But this happens sometimes when I sleep too deeply and can't hear the alarm." She quickly found a reasonable explanation for this matter, but Nari looked at her expression and knew that she was actually a little undecided.
So Nari didn't argue with her any further and just said, "Go out and take a look, and you'll know."
She took the coat that Yang Feiyu had thrown on the chair, and after she put it on, she led people out. During the way, Nari also asked Yang Feiyu to try the switches in the house, but none of them responded.
Yang Feiyu also turned on the flashlight on her phone. She held Nari's hand and said, "It's just a power outage."
"I came up by elevator." Nari opened the door.
"It may be divided into two power systems. Didn't you say that the venue on the other side has two systems? The power system of the elevator may be the same as the one over there..." Yang Feiyu's voice became lower as he spoke, and he obviously felt that his statement was not very tenable.
Nari didn't refute her. After leading the group out of the room, she raised her hand slightly and shone the light on the portrait. "Look."
"Ah!" Yang Feiyu subconsciously looked up and saw the portrait closing its eyes. She was stunned. A moving painting... right in front of her...
She tightened her grip on Nari's hand, turned her head back stiffly, and said nothing more. She fell silent and just moved closer to Nari.
Nari gently tugged at her hand in comfort, but then dropped another bombshell: "I don't know how I can ever get back to my old world."
Yang Feiyu froze and swallowed. The sound of swallowing was very obvious in the silent environment, "gulp".
"Should we go back to the room then?"
Kanari shook her head and said, "The cafeteria here doesn't work." So if you do nothing and just stay in the room, you will starve to death.
"It's too dark..." Yang Feiyu had no choice but to follow Nari. Nari asked her to turn off the flashlight on her phone to save power, so that when Nari's phone ran out of power, hers could still be charged.
There was only that little light source for the two of them, which made Yang Feiyu very uneasy. She herself was a person with low sense of security and average courage. She would wrap herself tightly when she slept, but now, she was surrounded by empty darkness.
She was almost hanging on Nari.
"It's so scary..." Yang Feiyu followed Nari while secretly looking at the paintings on the wall. The eyes of the people in the paintings really followed their movements little by little, and the picture was extremely weird.
"Don't look, just pretend you don't know." Nari wasn't actually feeling very comfortable either. Anyone would feel a little uncomfortable being stared at by such emotionless eyes, but she had Yang Feiyu "hanging" on her, so she couldn't walk fast and couldn't escape the scene quickly.
Yang Feiyu grabbed Nari's arm and lowered her head. "I'm just scared, but I can't help but want to see."
“…”
The two people walked into the elevator feeling uncomfortable. Yang Feiyu looked at the slowly closing elevator door. As Nari said, the elevator was operating normally.
Then she saw a huge duck head in the corner of the elevator and quickly hid behind Nari: "Is this the duck head you were talking about?"
"Yeah." Nari nodded. The duck's head was a little dry now, the feathers had lost their brightness, and the tongue stopped moving. It just lay quietly in the corner of the elevator.
Yang Feiyu couldn't help but keep looking at it. She would take a look and then immediately look away and shake her body, repeating this over and over again, like a desensitization training.
The elevator dropped them off on the first floor. Nari stared in surprise at the empty ground outside the elevator door. Where was Duckhead's body? The elevator had clamped its head, and after it was torn apart, its body should have remained on the first floor. But there was no blood or body on the first floor.
Did someone take it away?
