Saturday morning.
The group waited for someone at the entrance of G University.
Looking around, the main character still hadn't appeared.
Chu Jiang also made a voice call on his phone, and the other party answered quickly.
"Hello!"
Where are you?
Xi Ran's soft voice rang out, "We're almost at the main gate. If you're in a hurry, you can go back first. I'll go to Aunt Bai's convenience store myself later. I know the way."
"That won't do. You know how crowded the subway is on Saturdays. I'll be your protector."
Xi Ran said helplessly, "It doesn't matter if it's crowded. I'm used to it. Even if you take me there in the morning, I'll still have to come back by myself at night. I'll still be fine without a protector. There's no need to go through all that trouble."
Chu Jiang thought about it and realized it was true. As Xi Ran said, he would deliver things when he had time, but when he didn't, she would go to work at the convenience store by herself, often running between the school and the store. She was doing just fine, and he seemed to be being a bit presumptuous.
"Stop dawdling, we've been waiting for you."
"Okay! I'll be right there."
Xi Ran rushed over in a flurry, and Chu Jiang stood beside three unfamiliar faces, momentarily stunned.
Are you guys going out to have some fun?
Chu Jiang scratched his head, a little embarrassed, and said, "I invited them to my house for a couple of days. My house is big, and there's room for them to sleep. I'm also inviting you. I've already told my parents that I'll be bringing three men and one woman home as guests."
Xi Ran looked troubled. "But today is Saturday, and I have to work a full eight hours. That's what I promised Aunt Bai."
"That's easy. Just come to my house after you finish work. My house isn't far from the pretty auntie's convenience store. I've already asked my mom to tidy up the room."
"Let me introduce you. These three are my roommates. We've been friends for three years, we know each other very well, and they're my good brothers and buddies."
Chu Jiang then introduced them to Xi Ran one by one.
Xi Ran greeted them shyly, "Hello!"
"Hello, junior!"
"Hello, beautiful lady!"
"Hello, sister-in-law!"
As soon as Qiu Bojie's unconventional way of greeting came out, everyone looked over.
"Why are you all looking at me like that? Am I wrong? Isn't she Brother Yi's girlfriend? I call her Sister-in-law, you didn't get the address wrong."
Upon hearing this, Xi Ran's face turned as red as an apple, and she didn't know what to do with her hands and feet.
Chu Jiang also threw a punch, "What are you yelling about? I don't have a title yet."
"Oh? I thought you and your sister-in-law were boyfriend and girlfriend. Sorry, junior."
Xi Ran waved her hand, "It's okay, it's okay. I'm going to be late for work. Everyone, let's hurry to the subway station."
The crowd marched in a large group toward the subway entrance.
Chu Jiang handed the breakfast in his hand to Xi Ran, "Here! You haven't had breakfast yet, have you?"
Xi Ran was a little embarrassed, "I don't want it."
"Why?"
"It's really not good for me to eat and drink for free all the time."
"What's wrong with that? Classmates should help each other, don't you think?"
Xi Ran nodded hesitantly.
"That's fine then. You absolutely have to eat breakfast today, do you know why?"
Xi Ran looked over with a puzzled expression, waiting for what was to come.
"Because this is what the four of us left over, the waiter packed it up. I really don't have any more room to eat, so I'm sorry to trouble you to eat it. I really can't eat anymore, so please just eat it and it would be such a waste to throw it away."
Xiao Zhebin chimed in, "Yes, yes, we're all full. It would be such a waste to throw it away. Just consider it helping out."
Qiu Bojie tried to say something, but Wen Jincheng tightly covered his mouth, preventing him from making a sound.
Xi Ran looked at the fragrant steamed buns in Chu Jiangyi's hand and couldn't help but swallow hard.
"Oh well."
Xi Ran took the steamed buns and ate them in small bites. She was reluctant to eat them after eating half of them, so she could save the other half for lunch. That way, her lunch for the day would be taken care of.
Chu Jiangyi seemed to have seen through her thoughts. "I'll have lunch at my house. When it's time, I'll pick you up from the pretty aunt's convenience store."
"This isn't a good idea."
"There's nothing wrong with it. I've already spoken to the pretty auntie, and she's agreed."
Xi Ran had no choice but to reluctantly agree.
After Chu Jiang and Xi Ran had walked away, Qiu Bojie raised the question that had been on his mind.
"Why did you lie, Brother Yi? Those steamed buns were clearly bought especially for Xi Ran. Why did you say they were leftovers? That's not right."
Xiao Zhebin rolled his eyes at him helplessly, "With your brain, you're not suited to hearing about such complicated things. It's better if you don't know."
Xiao Zhebin left after saying those words, not even sparing Qiu Bojie a second glance.
Qiu Bojie looked at Wen Jincheng pleadingly, "You and I are the best of friends in the dorm, tell me what happened?"
"Sigh! This matter can't be explained in a few words. Let's talk about it as we walk."
"good!"
After listening to Wen Jincheng's analysis, Qiu Bojie suddenly realized, "Oh, I see. I understand now."
"Once you understand, don't undermine me. If I hadn't been quick-witted and said it, you would have said it, which would have made everyone very embarrassed."
"It won't happen again next time."
"This child is teachable!"
