041 | (Forty) Don't leave after class
"Crazy." Xie Qingyan cursed. She was careless and couldn't discern any extra emotions. She just felt confused. It was still self-study class, and all she could do was roll her eyes at Zhou Jianyang fiercely.
Along with the pen cap, a curled piece of paper was thrown back.
Their handwriting was wild and sloppy, just like their personalities. It is said that one can see a person's character by their handwriting. Xie Qingyan's handwriting was careless, and his personality was also carefree. Zhou Jianyang was used to being arrogant and conceited, and his writing was flamboyant and unrestrained.
In contrast, she often saw Su Xingmao holding a pen and writing, his handwriting neat and tidy, every stroke carefully executed.
Before Xie Qingyan could even read the contents of the paper, Zhou Jianyang cleared his throat and smiled at her with raised eyebrows.
The next second, a shadow appeared from the front. Beneath the blue and white school uniform, an disciplinary roster was pressed under his elbow, and he brazenly snatched the note from her hand. He bent down and leaned closer, his overwhelming presence like a tight embrace. Xie Qingyan's breath hitched slightly. In her hasty look up, she met calm, expressionless eyes, like the bottom of a deep lake, with ice shards floating, coldly watching her.
Xie Qingyan felt a little flustered for no reason, but thankfully he quickly looked away and, in a calm tone, wrote down her name: "Xie Qingyan, it is self-study time now, and you have violated class rules."
He lowered his eyes, put down his pen, turned to a clean page, and wrote the three characters "Xie Qingyan".
Xie Qingyan bit her lower lip, unable to determine whether this bastard had acted impartially or not.
Su Xingmao turned to the side and looked at Zhou Jianyang expressionlessly. He flipped back to the old page of the roster and added Zhou Jianyang's name under a series of densely packed names: "Zhou Jianyang, you too, no talking or passing notes during breaks."
Zhou Jianyang frowned, dismissively clicking his tongue, and gestured for him to write: "Class monitor, are you done writing?"
Zhou Jianyang immediately stood up. The two were of similar height, and Su Xingmao switched from looking down to looking at eye level.
"How old are you? Still playing the 'tell the teacher' trick?" Zhou Jianyang grabbed the desk and chair, scraping them against the floor and making a loud noise. He sneered and said sarcastically, "Bye, I'm not going to class this time. You can add a note to your record and report it to Qin Xin."
The sarcastic tone of the song subtly implied that Su Xing Mao was the homeroom teacher's lackey.
The quiet classroom was suddenly filled with whispers because of the confrontation between the two. Everyone's inquisitive eyes kept lingering on the class monitor and Zhou Jianyang, and occasionally they would also glance at Xie Qingyan.
Su Xingmao frowned slightly, remaining silent as he watched Zhou Jianyang clatter and knock his way through the desks and chairs, finally opening the classroom door with a loud "bang" that drew the attention of the entire class.
He added "truant" to Zhou Jianyang's name, turned around and went back to his seat, only glancing briefly at Xie Qingyan, who looked completely bewildered, as he looked back.
The students, unaware of what had happened, began asking around to find out what had occurred.
Someone in the front row whispered, "Xie Qingyan and Zhou Jianyang were caught passing notes by the class monitor."
Some people gloated: "Doesn't he deserve it?"
Some people wondered, "Are they talking? They're even passing notes."
"Holy crap, if they really report it to Qin Xin, we're doomed. The sports committee member got caught dating someone from the next class and got a public reprimand a while back..."
Xie Qingyan was speechless. This was an utterly undeserved disaster. What did it have to do with her? She was about to open her mouth to retort.
"Quiet down." Class monitor Zhou Hanyu stood up abruptly, gave Xie Qingyan a reassuring look, and together they maintained order: "After class, I will urge the subject representatives to collect the papers that were handed out last weekend. Have you finished writing them? You have so much free time to chat."
The crowd felt awkward, and the noise gradually subsided.
Xie Qingyan quietly took out her phone and sent Zhou Hanyu a Kuromi kneeling emoji, a gesture of deep gratitude that needs no words of thanks.
As soon as I switched out of WeChat, another message popped up at the top of the screen.
[XX]: I came to the lab during my lunch break.
Xie Qingyan stared blankly at the line of words, reading it three times in turn. Then, in disbelief, she looked up at the row of dark heads and fixed her gaze on Su Xingmao's back. The quiet and upright figure showed no sign that he was secretly using his phone to send her a text message.
As the class monitor, he played with his phone during class, openly violating discipline.
Why didn't Su Xingmao write down his own name? Isn't that blatant double standards?
Xie Qingyan was furious, but she couldn't expose him in public.
Otherwise, not only would it expose their overly close and secret relationship, but it would also unjustly add the charge of "using electronic devices in class."
She took a pen and drew a chibi-style character in a school uniform with a "Discipline Committee Member" armband on the draft paper. She drew a handprint in red and put a big X on the face, with a bubble above it to indicate "insidious villain" and "scheming".
She'll go just because you tell her to? Dream on! She's not going to some damn lab.
