Chapter 746 Shen Min

Chapter 746 Shen Min

The two exchanged a glance and raised their eyebrows.

Both Shen Ci and Shen Xing felt unfamiliar and distant from their maternal grandmother, or rather, from the relatives living in their ancestral home in Funan.

I don't recall ever seeing them more than a few times. My mother rarely took them back. I can't remember the last time it was, maybe a few years ago.

My aunt was even worse; as far as I can remember, she only went back once.

"Hello, Mom."

When the call connected, Shen Jingjing's tone was as flat as usual.

But the old lady on the other end of the phone spoke anxiously: "Jingjing, Xiaomin ran off to Longcheng! Go pick her up quickly, don't let her get lost!"

"What?" Shen Jingjing's brows furrowed immediately upon hearing this. "Xiaomin came to Longcheng? What's she doing here?"

"Oh dear, how would we have known!" The old lady seemed quite angry. "That brat has grown up! She disappeared this morning, and your brother and sister-in-law thought she'd gone out, but then she got a message on the plane saying she went to Longcheng to work. She's never been far from home before! How could she possibly find work in Longcheng all by herself?"

"Aren't you in Longcheng? Her plane just took off. If you go to the airport now, you can definitely pick her up. Once you get her, buy her a ticket and bring her back. That brat, just wait until she gets back, your older brother will break her legs!"

Shen Jingjing was even more shocked. Xiaomin was working?

She's even younger than Aci, shouldn't she be in school?

"Isn't she about to start school?"

"What's the point of starting school? She said she wouldn't study anymore just because she didn't get into university after the college entrance exam." The old lady didn't want to talk about these things, but urged Shen Jingjing, "You should take this seriously and go pick her up quickly. Don't let anything happen to her alone in Longcheng."

Shen Jingjing dared not be negligent, for if something really happened, the old lady would definitely blame her: "Okay, I understand."

Shen Ci kept her eyes on her mother, knowing that her grandmother's phone call must have been urgent. Only after her mother hung up did she ask, "What's wrong? What's wrong, Grandma?"

“Xiaomin secretly took a plane to Longcheng all by herself. Your grandma asked me to pick her up and then send her back.” Shen Jingjing said, already standing up, and couldn’t help but complain, “I can guess what happened without even asking me. With your grandma and your uncle and aunt’s sexist nature, Xiaomin must have suffered a lot of grievances back in her hometown. Otherwise, would she have run away secretly?”

Her older brother, Shen Mingming, was a few years older than her, but Shen Jingjing gave birth early, while Shen Mingming got married and had children after graduating from university.

Therefore, although Shen Min was Shen Mingming's first child, she was two years younger than Shen Ci.

Shen Mingming had a total of four children, including one daughter, Shen Min, and three sons.

"Mom, I'll go pick her up. I'm the only one free today."

Shen Ci called out to her mother, put the last wonton in her mouth, and stood up: "You go to the company first, I'll pick someone up and tell you."

"Can you recognize her?" Shen Jingjing was a little worried, after all, her daughter hadn't seen Xiaomin for several years.

They say girls change a lot as they grow up, and she probably wouldn't even recognize Xiaomin now.

Shen Ci didn't have Shen Min's WeChat, and she didn't have anyone's WeChat from her hometown, so she looked at her mother and said, "Ask Grandma for a recent photo of Xiao Min. When the flight from our hometown lands, I'll look for her one by one at the exit. I'm sure I'll be able to recognize her."

Shen Jingjing hesitated for a moment before nodding: "Okay, you're the same age. You can persuade her to stay in Longcheng for a few days if she wants, but she must go back in the end. Otherwise, we can't bear the responsibility if something happens."

Shen Ci understood her mother's meaning: "Don't worry, I will make arrangements for her."

Before arriving at Longcheng Airport, Shen Ci had already checked the flight information. Based on the time, there was only one flight from her hometown, which would land at 9:30.

It was almost time, and passengers began to emerge from the arrival gate. Shen Ci looked at the photos on her phone to make sure she wasn't mistaken.

About half an hour later, Shen Min finally appeared.

She was wearing a coat and pulling a huge suitcase, as if she had packed all her belongings into it. She came out of the exit looking bewildered and helpless, clearly a complete stranger to the big city.

Shen Ci recognized her at a glance and walked over to her: "Xiao Min!"

Shen Min turned around and saw a stunningly beautiful woman walking towards her. She looked around in confusion, and didn't recognize Shen Ci until she stood in front of her.

"You know me?" Shen Min looked at Shen Ci with suspicion.

Shen Ci smiled helplessly. Not to mention that Shen Min didn't recognize her, she wouldn't recognize her either if she didn't have a photo.

"I'm your sister Aci, do you remember me?"

"Sister Aci?" Shen Min was immediately startled, clearly remembering her, and stared at Shen Ci from head to toe: "You, you've become so beautiful?"

Vague memories began to resurface. Shen Min vaguely remembered that Sister Aci seemed to have been very beautiful even when she was a child.

“You secretly ran away to Longcheng. Your grandma called your aunt, so I came here specifically to pick you up,” Shen Ci explained.

Shen Min felt a little annoyed upon hearing this. She had completely forgotten that her aunt had moved to Longcheng. She should have known that her aunt had gone to Jinghai.

Shen Ci noticed Shen Min's thin clothing. Funan was not like Longcheng; winters there were also above freezing, and it was already spring in March.

In March, the temperature in Longcheng was still below zero.

"You're dressed too lightly. Get in the car with me first."

Xiaomin was somewhat resistant, afraid of being deported, but looking at the huge airport in front of her, she felt timid. She clearly didn't have a proper understanding of big cities. After arriving, she realized that she was completely lost and didn't even know where to go.

So he nodded and got into the car with Shen Ci.

She had never ridden in such a nice car before; the seats were as soft and comfortable as clouds.

"You haven't eaten, have you?"

There was bread on the plane, and I ate one.

"We'll get to the city around noon. Let me take you to get something to eat first. Don't you have any warm clothes?"

Xiaomin glanced down at her coat and shook her head: "This is my thickest coat. I can buy a down jacket online."

Shen Ci looked at her and sighed with some heartache; she was just too thin.

Her body shape was similar to Lianxing's, who always maintained her figure, so she sent Lianxing a message asking if she had any spare winter clothes that she didn't wear and could "help out".

Once in the city, Shen Ci found a restaurant that was relatively ordinary for her.

Even so, it was still a luxury for Xiaomin. She stopped her sister at the door and said, "Sister, you don't need to eat such expensive things. Just eat some fast food noodles or something."

She wasn't just being polite; she was saying it very sincerely.

Shen Ci felt sorry for her understanding nature and took her hand in return, saying, "It's not expensive here, let's go in."
